"When I applied to Vassar I was nervous that I wouldn't be accepted. But coming from Arizona, with an interest in learning Russian, I had a lot to offer the college. They accepted me based on my whole self, and not just on my SAT scores. I was treated a lot like a foreign student, and I made friends with a lot of other foreign students. I had to ask for 3 final exams to be delayed so I could spend Christmas in Norway at the home one of my new friends. Although the dean had just denied the same sort of request from a girl who wanted to go on vacation in the Caribbean with her family, my request was accepted with great excitement. I was going to spend a month in the world's northernmost town. That was exactly what the dean considered a good reason to postpone a final. They even made me a loan to pay for the airfare! At Vassar, I found that the school was willing to do almost anything to further my education. If you love to learn, I think you'd be a good fit here."

"Vassar students learn to think for themselves, and write well critically. A wide variety of course offerings and few required courses allows students to help shape their own educational experience."

"Vassar was perfect for me and I then attended a great grad school (Wharton/UPenn) for my MBA. Total academic freedom, small classes, excellent access to professors, wonderful facilities. I have done alumni interviews and college fairs for Vassar for over 30 years, and the type of student that is a good fit for Vassar hasn't changed since I was there."
