"West Chester University's Social Work BSW program was phenomenal. The staff (professors, chair, field instructors, etc.) provided their students with exceptional resources for success. They always had an open door, and led you through real-life examples that were relevant to your field of work. The professors allowed the students to feel welcomed in class, and the environment was always very warm and inviting. I am beyond grateful to have gained my education through this social work program at WCU!"

"I am a non-traditional student. I found it very difficult to take my general education requirements because they were all offered during the day. My advisor and several West Chester professors created classes called independent studies just for me! This allowed me to work full time and still graduate in a timely manner. I love West Chester University and I am thankful for my professors treating me like a person and not another number."

"West Chester has a calm feeling when you walk through the campus that makes you relaxed and happy to be there. If you like small towns, this is the place to be with the beautiful trees on the campus and the smaller buildings with smaller groups if students per class. This allows professors to have one-on-one time with each student."

"The communication sciences and disorders graduate program at West Chester University challenges me and my peers every single day. Our hours are not confined by the typical 9 to 5 routine. We work constantly and tirelessly, supported by our program. This program is helping us achieve our degree so that we may one day help others."

  • Degree: Fine Arts
"My undergraduate experience at West Chester University was a positive one. I went into college pursuing a Fine Arts degree. I choose West Chester for the location and because I knew it had an Art department, however while I was there, I had the privilege of taking courses with an amazing professor who changed the path of my life by inspiring me to become an art teacher. She became a mentor to me and with her encouragement, I went on to obtain my teaching certification in Art because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others the way she had made a different in mine. The education that I received at West Chester University was exceptional, and contributed to my success as a graduate student and teacher."

  • Degree: Special Education
"I found West Chester's program in Special Education excellent. The support from my adviser Dr. Wandry helped me complete the program in 4 years and meet my needs as a non-traditional student. Further, through the relationships developed at West Chester, I was highly motivated to continue pursuing my education at a graduate level. Upon graduating, I had no difficulty in finding employment, and felt that support given while in school to plan and prepare for employment was excellent. I would highly recommend this program to others. The only other suggestion I would give is that I you enter this degree program seek to add a math/science certificate onto it to make you a more marketable candidate."

  • Degree: Performing Arts
"Loved the communities I became a part of at WCU - however, career placement was tough. My friends and department were my family for four years though, and as a theatre major - I spent every waking hour with them all, working together and having fun - including staying up through the night rehearsing sometimes. I wouldn't trade it for the world!"

"I am VERY happy that I went to West Chester University. I feel prepared to begin a career in education and I believe that this school provided a great program. Although I am having difficulty with my loan repayment right now, it will be much easier once I get a full-time job in my field."

"The CACREP accreditation in this program is a major asset. The tuition is very reasonable. However, one drawback is that classes are only scheduled from 4:15 p.m. and later, Monday through Thursday. I am one of many students who has a job that involves evening hours, so daytime classes would be much appreciated."

"My graduate program is INTENSE! I'm being challenged at every class and I'm loving it. It is hard work, and the area is not cheap to live in, but they have plenty of on campus housing. Most grad students commute, though."

"It would be better if West Chester offered the Music Therapy degree themselves instead of simply partnering with Immaculata University. The communication between the schools leaves a lot to be desired and the conflicting classes is sometimes hard to deal with. The music program at WCU is one of the best however."
