Degree: Diesel Mechanic
Graduation Year: 2002

I think things have change at WyoTech. When i went there it was one campus. They just where setup the PA Campus. I took the diesel and management class. Instructors knew what they were teaching and could make you comprehend. We had decent students to be around. About 40 student per class two instructors. Diesel Mechanics section had it the best, the new engines and new buildings. All student hated the BS of shaving and hair cuts. It was even stricter than what the recruiters approved of. Refrigeration course was excellent with diesel classes. ASM classes were drudge to get through. Like being back in high school. But they did teach you the BS to apply for loan and make business plans. General account practices, which was nice. They also taught you how to struct your shop profit on jobs and deal with employees. It's very useful if you apply it. Now the housing was a joke, huge mess. The motto at the school was the housing was a joke but the classes are very good to teach your job. So we deal with it. It was before the campus rooms and it was all off site with the old Buford, Plaza, downy and log cabin hotel. Now the kicker. 4 of the 4 phase of classes in diesel mechanic. The teacher give you the low down. Your only good enough to change oil or brake. If you lucky a water pump. Ryder will love you but your won't be mechanic maybe a techinician if you lucky. What they did is more start you on a career path that 10 year later in the field if you apply yourself you will be useful and have a good job. That's the little BS twist when they ask you at orientation who wants a job and we all raise our hands. They say too bad we only prepare you for carreers. 10 year later now i understand. I started changing tires at wyotech at $7.00hr with some brake jobs, in two years i was fleet mechanic for a place(making $40,000), now i make $26 in a very rural area. It's a good living and i could not advance with out fundamentals but Wyotech prepare to fight in the grease and tire pits where you have to start. But it will making you get out them fast if you have knowledge from Wyotech Overall 8-10 would do it again.

Absolutely a wonderful experience beginning to end. The professors care but push students to excel. They pay attention to each person in a hands on environment, setting young people up for success. There are many opportunities for different specializations.

This school was the best decision of my life. I had 15 students in my class. I got great one on one win my instructors. I heard some horror stories about WyoTech but it seems like they got their shit together when they got bought by Zenith Education Group. Now they are non for profit. There was no pressure w applying.had a great experience and top notch training with the DATE Mack/Volvo program. Got a good job working for Mack dealer in Tennessee. If you apply yourself you'll get great training. Very strict with following rules and professionalism. There are top notch employers that show up at career fairs to interview with.they delivered what they promise if you're willing to show up for class and learn. Campus housing is rent free and all utilities were included. Is a decent place to live but needs new carpet. Only had to pay for my food for 9 months.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL. ALL THEY DO IS MAKE PROMISES TO HELP YOU FIND A JOB BY THE TIME YOU GRADUATE. YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE GOING TO YOUR LOCAL BODY SHOP AND GETTING A JOB AS A HELPER. THE ONLY THING WYOTECH DID FOR ME IS TAKE 9 MONTH FROM MY LIFE AND 30K IN DEBT. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY, BE SMART AND STAY AWAY. ITS BEEN SEVEN YEARS SINCE I GRADUATED AND THEY DIDN'T HELP WITH ANYTHING. AND THE SNAP-ON DISCOUNT IS ANOTHER LIE TOO.

If you go to this school you will get nothing out of it. You will learn more if you play Papa's Burgeria then went to this school. The teachers do not teach you very much and they were very rude to me. I was very upset about how this school is run and I would not not go to this school again if it was between life or death.

When I was at Wyotech it was the greatest experience of my life. The teachers are great and are very good at what they do. People will see Wyotech on my resume and see that I am a hard worker and am passionate about what I do. I definitely recommend that you go to this school.

I was so excited when I started at Wyotech. I did not stay excited long. I had instructors just give answers to the test because they did not want to teach it. Instead of helping when I needed it they stood around making bets on the next time I mess up. The job out come was a lie my resume gets laughed at for having Wyotech on it. I have been working in the medical field just to make ends meet for the horrible loans that I can not even get transcripts for. read your loan contract well they will get you there. I really don't recommend this school anything is better. Every job fair while I was there I had put I Applications and had at least 2 interviews and in all my classes I tried hard was class and shop leader studied. I have a family to support and can not hardly do that because of the loans. I just hope if anyone thinking of this school really looks in to it and ask questions to many people have been royally screwed by this school.

I enjoyed the school and the teachers. I was always in the top 5 of my class. Many people hated the school due to the strict rules and dress code, but I did not mind it. It is a school for those who are willing to give their all. If you're looking for a party spot as you go to school then Wyotech is not for you! The one thing I regret about the school is that I did not have my own project car to bring in and work on, so I just got all the odd job projects in the shop, but it gave me a wider range of stuff to learn from in cassis fab. The school offers job fairs and a ton of extra certificates you can work to get. I left the school with 6 certificates, and a job that paid $26 an hour. I then joined the navy as an aviation mechanic and received a 4 pay grade advancement dou to my past college with Wyotech. After I got out of the navy I got a job paying $45 an hour. The interviews told me the main reason I was hired was because of the skills I have learned at Wyoming tech! The school will help you find a job in many ways if you try! And they will help you find grants and loans to pay for the school and very low rates. My loan was at 1.5%. You can't ask for much better then that. After grants and scholarships I was left with $20,000 in loans. But I had them paid off in 6 years. It would have been sooner if I did not join the military, because I took a pay cut joining.

I went to Wyotech in Laramie and it completely ruined my entire outlook on wanting to be a mechanic. The teachers are great people and great friends. Great teachers they aren't. The school is a joke. Please do not make the same mistake I did. The administration makes it their goal to make you as uncomfortable as possible. You are forced into shaving no matter what your medical condition is. Please don't consider Wyotech unless you want to be depressed and miserable for a minimum of 9 months.
