"This online program was enticing as it offers a few pros. Firstly, it is very affordable and the course structured allowed for a 1 year completion with enough flexibility to complete while maintaining a full time job. This is however where the pros end and the cons begin. This degree does not properly prepare a student for landing a job in the Marketing field. It lacks in classes which are required for marketing employment such as Analytics and deeper understanding of SEO and Google ads. I have been interviewing for entry level jobs in the Marketing field and this degree has not enhanced my status in securing these jobs. In addition, this degree did not teach me certain fundamentals which are necessary to secure employment in this field. If you are looking for a series of finance classes sloppily strung together with a few vague Marketing classes, this degree might be for you. If not then you should look elsewhere for a program which leans heavily on analytics and other data. Honestly a google certificate may be more useful to your career ambitions. Do not recommend."

"I attended Youngstown State University and ultimately decided on general studies for my bachelors because of my credits being spread out among several subject areas. I focused primarily on public and allied health, but took courses in criminal justice and environmental science as well. My overall experience with the university was a good one, where I had caring professors, manageable coursework, and support in the form of tutoring in any subject area I struggled. The only area where I particularly struggled was mathematics (as I know a lot of people do), but they had a great tutoring center dedicated specifically to help with any type of math you were taking. Overall, this university is a solid and affordable choice when getting your undergraduate degree, I enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue on with my masters in business administration here as well."

"small campus with affordable tuition. Major reason why i chose to receive my B.S degree here. YSU leadrship is pushing STEM....hard science, math engineer and math. The school has always been strong in those areas, not surprising given it's industrial heritage. The urban setting of the school gave me a great measure of comfort due to being in the middle of the real commercial world. I will say that your definition of what a good school is can be found through exploring the atmosphere of the city, classes, professors, and students by visiting, calling, looking on social media, and every other option you have to see the social media footprint people there have made. You might think what you find is good, and you might think it isnt. You might just not like the textbooks used in the courses you want to take, and thats a very strong predictive indicator of the quality of a course."

"YSU is a wonderful school, with many terrific programs, majors, and opportunities for the incoming freshman. The school is growing and expanding in an effort to offer the best experience possible for its students. It is also affiliated with the nearby medical school, which greatly benefits students heading in the medical direction."

"I am currently getting my Master's Degree in criminal Justice and I absolutely love this school. I went here for my Bachelors in Exercise Science and continued to get my Master's. It is a wonderful school and I suggest it to anyone interested. I am originally from out of state and everyone made me feel like I was at home. I learned more about myself by living within Youngstown and the education was a great experience."

"Meet with your advisor, meet with all of your professors, meet with your registrar. Be informed about where you want to go and how long it will take you to get there. Keep track of the resources and people who are there to help you and keep in touch with them. Don't be afraid of asking for help"

"Youngstown State University was a fine college to get an Education Master's degree. The professors were knowledgeable and worked to make their classes interesting and applicable to the needs of a teacher, This is a university that I would return to for other classes in the future if I decided to obtain another degree."

"The class sizes are typically small. You get to know and work with instructors closely. The campus is nice."

"I completed my bachelors degree in Social Work from Youngstown State University through Lorain County Community Colleges partnership program. I enjoyed every aspect of this program. The class sizes were smaller, and scheduled class times were convenient to complete an internship placement as well as other employment opportunities. I thoroughly appreciated that the teachers knew who we were as individuals and genuinely cared for our education. My Advisor was extremely supportive and educated. She made it her personal mission to prepare each of us for our careers in Social Work. The program was also structured to prepare students to take the Ohio Licensed Social Work exam. I found the program to be affordable and flexible to the needs of its students. Overall, I am extremely grateful for my education experience through this institution. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in advancing their education in a Bachelors of Social Work."

"I thought it was great. The classes were a good size, the campus is nice, and it is a welcoming environment."

"My college degree program is and was a great opportunity for someone who cannot afford to live in campus at a university. I started off at a community college and obtained an associates degree in Police Science. Because my community college was only a two year degree I had to seek my bachelors elsewhere. Luckily for me the community college I attended has a partnership program, where they partner with universities, so students like me can obtain a bachelors and not have to go to the actual campus. I started the partnership program through Youngstown state university, and have been able to take bachelors classes, not to far from my home. The partnership is a distance learning experience because the instructors are not on my actual campus, they are miles away. Therefore I watch them lecture from a monitor screen in a classroom at my community college. I have learned so much and have had nothing but great interaction with my instructors, considering they're on a different campus. I would recommend my program to any student who is like me and couldn't afford to go to an actual university."

"The Master of Social Work (MSW) program located at Youngstown State University is accredited by CSWE which is necessary in order to get licensed within the US and is needed should you ever want to work with the govt. They had multiple options for the length of program including advanced standing, for individual who have a BSW; a two year full-time program and a couple part time options. I went for the full-time option and had classes in the evening and weekends with a typical semester load being about 15 credit hours. In additional to classroom coursework we had to do a yearlong internship both years of the program. The program serves a very large area in Ohio and Pennsylvania and thankfully they have networked with potential internship sites in that large service area. I did end up driving quite a ways for both of my internships although my second year internship was paid which was extremely rare. It also was very difficult to find a mental health internship at the time I attended. While attending the program I saw what I thought were a lot of flaws- I felt we could have done more in the community and more hands on activities to really prepare us for graduation but in reality once you graduate you're still under supervision for your clinical license so you really do learn more on the job and in your internships. I decided to leave the area after graduation but I know many of my classmates stayed and received jobs at their internship sites. The education I received really did prepare me for my career and I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and passed my clinical exam on my first try. I would recommend the program because of the preparation, affordability, flexibility and location."

"The YSU DPT program is a very competitive program that readies you for the National Physical Therapy Exam and for your career as a physical therapist. The course load of the program is very large, but is very pertinent to school."

"The biggest complaint I have about the program is the lack of safety that the campus provides. It is a little too scary to walk around the campus after sunset."

"Pros: Super affordable school, great peers and some truly amazing instructors (especially adjunct faculty). I also ended up with two great internships that gave me some great experience. Cons: I would have liked to have online course options and more elective opportunities."

"The staff, for the most part, of this university over all is Incredibly helpful and available for any needs, from study help to recommendation letters. The specific graduate program I am enrolled in is still in its newer years. Despite the few bugs that need worked out, the faculty has gone above and beyond to provide the best experience possible to learn the future profession. Though I am still working through the program, I feel I am already decently prepared for my future career. As far as the campus goes, it is a beautiful campus, unfortuneatly nestled in a less than safe city. Downtown Youngstown is relatively safe, however the surrounding areas can be a bit scary. If you know where to go, it isn't terrible. There is plenty to do on campus, such as food and recreation, so one will always be entertained."

"The only con of the graduate program has more to do with the university. Overall funding at the university has been limited in recent years and has impacted our access to valuable academic journals and resources. The pros greatly outweigh the cons of the program. The program has been able to provide graduate assistantships with stipends and full tuition remission to all graduate students. The faculty has provided students with great networking opportunities, which has led to students working with community, state, and national partners. These networking opportunities have led to large research projects, as well as publications in academic journals and presentations at state/national conferences."

"The surrounding area is a little sketchy. There are always reports and emergency notifications about shootings or robberies in the area. However, once inside the campus, it is extremely safe."
