"I attended Alverno College and graduated with a BSN in 1997. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to attend this college. I feel that Alverno's nursing program prepared me to be the nurse that I am today. I learned to become confident and analytical. Everyone possess these skills but Alverno helps you strengthen an achieve your highest potential."

"Alverno does a great job at providing students with real world situations to prepare them for their careers. They also do a great job at providing self-assessments throughout your studies to help you grow and evaluate your progress made. Instructors are very passionate and understanding. The buildings are beautiful and campus is safe."
Horrible nursing program

"I absolutely loved Alverno, until I got into the nursing program. The teachers are so condescending and disrespectful! They act like it's such a burden to go over questions. One teacher in particular said to me, "How did you even make it this far into the nursing program." when I didn;t understand her question, which didn't even make sense in the first place.. If you want a nursing degree DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT go to Alverno. Any other major, yes. Alverno's other majors are awesome.. Still a little expensive but you get enough aid to ease it."

"My graduate program has been demanding and challenging overall. While there was one semester that was not as challenging, it did require me to think more artistically which is not my norm. Overall, I am truly grateful for the experience and am sad to see it coming to an end."

"The professors are wonderful. They have a lot of knowledge and provide a lot of resources. The professors in the community psychology program unfortunately take on a lot of responsibilities so therefore there are times when it is hard to reach them. Alverno's grading system is a little different then most universities. It is based on a satisfactory, in progress, or unsatisfactory gauge. That took a little getting used to but it is helpful because they provide feedback on all the assignments and grades that you do receive. The university does not give tests but they do assessments which is more of a hands on test which I enjoy and feel that I get more out of than a written test."

"Alverno is a great school that doesn't force you to memorize endless pieces of data, it gives you the tools to apply theories in any situation."

"The Masters in Community Psychology program has two tracks: Professional Counselor or Community Research. This is a very hands on program and designed for the working adult. Class sizes are small but, the one on one attention plus being surrounded by those who are already in the field adds an invaluable quality to the learning experience. The work load is not overbearing. Also, the education program at Alverno is ability based. The only competition is yourself. Alverno does not give out grades or administer test. Instead we must meet certain criteria/abilities per class and that is shown in the work we do. Alverno is very challenging in that you must show/prove your knowledge and understanding through your work. At the end of each course, I was very confident in the material taught and the skills/knowledge obtained. I have no fears or doubts after learning at Alverno about my abilities in my chosen field. Alverno prepares each and every one of their students for life."

"Alverno is the best learning environment for the student who actually wants to learn as opposed to just pass the test! The frequent assessments from staff, yourself, and peers help in the learning process."

"The quality and support of education I received from Alverno was uncomparable. I have never been to a school in which I felt so supported and confident with my education. I knew that when I stepped out those doors as a graduate, that I would be scooped up by employers. It has proven to be a welcoming and powerful education. I never lived on campus, but if I had, there was very limited housing."

"Alverno is great place to go and has excellent professors who really are there for you. I love the smaller class size to make you feel more comfortable. I just wish there was more financail aid available for those going back to school who have a family."

"I am in the Community Psychology program and the only con is that not many people are familiar with it since it is a newer graduate program. The pros are that the Alverno staff is very supportive and want each and every student to succeed. The required work is applicable to what will be needed in the workplace, so students are prepared."
