Degree: Forensic Science
Graduation Year: 2018

Pretty much the ONLY good thing about this college is that they give you lots of financial aid. It is a very expensive college and in order to succeed there you have to be SELF MOTIVATED. There are no live lectures, and 99% of the work you do is Intellipath. Intellipath is something that takes pretty much a week to complete so you have to do it like every day. Discussion posts are due by Fridays. At one point in time I did my discussion posts early because Fridays were bad for me and I had some idiot "instructor" dock my grade for doing it early. I called my advisor but NOTHING was EVER done to rectify the situation. Also, be prepared to be harassed by a bunch of phone calls. I was studying Forensic Science but my degree program had nothing to do with Forensic Science. Stay FAR away from this college.

This college is a scam. l attend the college for about a year. It's coslty, does not require real work to pass the classes. If you want an easy degree this is the college for you. That's the main reason I even attended this college because pretty much the advisior told me I didn't have to do work. It was correct I got A's and B's. I was attending school and then took a break. Upon coming off the break AIU kept calling harrassing me to log in to my classes when I wasn't enrolled in one for September 2018. I told the advisor I would enroll back in October courses and use my TA for those courses, because I was still trying to get TA cleared for the school. Once it was cleared I enroll in the classes that I wanted to take with them. The advisor advised me I couldn't just enroll in the classes I wanted to take because they make my degree plan for me and I had to follow it. Long story short they enrolled me in a class for September 2018 a week after classes started, to supposely avoid being disenrolled in thier college. I didn't open the module until I made sure that it was cover by my finanical aid. Once I called and verified it was cover by my finanical aid I started the class. Anyways I tried accesssing my transcripts, but an warning appeared that could not be generated due to a balance. So I called the finanical advisor and questioned him he told me not to worry. Eventually the warning went away and I was able to access my transcriopts. So upon completion of that class again I tried to access my transcripts it read the same warning. I messenger the financial advisor and now he's talking about it's showing that for the October classes that AIU automatically enrolled me in. My financial aid wouldn't cover the October classes and if I dropped them I would not be charged. I told him then drop me from the classes. I had to call the degree advisor. Ok, to easy right? NO! She was out the office and had a sit in advisor. I requested to be dropped from the class and she said ok. The following week I was dropped from the classes before they started after numerous calls! October goes by and we're well into November. AIU emails me talking about called them concerning a debt. I called, they state I owe $700 for classes. So I'm like what classes because I disenrolled from you college in October. Lady states oh, oh well this is for September. How is it for September when the class I took, I was told it was covered with finanical aid. Then her rude self continued to say no you requested to use TA and it didn't cover. The finanical aid wasn't applied for. How? liar when I called and was informed by the advisor that the financial aid I had did cover the class before I opened it. So not only are you lying about me saying I wanted to use TA but now you're saying you all blatantly lied and said it was covered. Then she preceeds to say I have all the notes. Well you and you collegues are lying. Regardless I have the email saying I wanted to use TA for October classes and not September, that you all lied and said it was covered by financial aid, so try again. My whole objective was to get a degree, but because of my schedule I couldn't attend college. The only pros of this school is that: - The advisor didn't lie about the classes you don't have to put in much work to acheive an A or B. - The modules you continously take to improve your score with little to no understanding of the subject. - Its convenient if your schedule is full The cons: - They will lie and say you owe an balance after lying saying the classes are covered fully by financial aid just to get you to attend - They constantly call your phone while you're enrolled which is annoying because  you already know I'm gonna pass the class with an elementary paragraph response so stop it. - They violate the principles of excellence agreement

When you hear degree mill, you think of this school. It is a little costly but does not require hardly any work to pass the classes. Most classes involve modules which can be clicked through and no academic rigor is not needed to get As. It is offers 5 week classes and great deal of flexibility which is ideal for working parents. However, passing classes for this school is incredibly easy and doesnt encourage in-depth learning. It does touch on the basics of the subject. A degree from this school should not carry a lot of weight in my opinion. I have attended 3 other colleges to compare it to.

I haven't graduated yet, but I feel as if though this is still not quite the school I have any business attending, I only did this to get experience for a job and right now my job hunt sucks and it did last year and it probably will this year. Why did I even bother dealing with this school; because nothing is ever good enough for them. I print out a 4506-T "Non-filing," form and shortly after my student page is shut down  - nothing there, I can't log in and I can't do anything as it pertains to my classes, they sighted me because I didn't have anything to offer to them, of course I know that in 2018, it will be my last year attending online school, on campus is much better, just take classmates, students and professors talking down to you; trust me it's way better than getting no responses from a goofy school like AIU! I can't take them, I gotta, go vomit!

Degree: Instructional Technology
Graduation Year: 2009

I transferred into AIU from another graduate program and I had 32 graduate units to transfer with yet AIU took none of them so I was forced to complete their program without any transferred units. AIU doesn't help it'd graduates with employment and they are difficult when requesting your transcripts.

Degree: Business Administration
Graduation Year: 2006

I went to college in 2005 and graduated in 2006. AIU was more concerned with having me as a student and the fact that my then husband was active duty Army. It was wonderful as far as being able to attend classes online while still being able to be a stay home mom for my kids, whom were 6 and 2 at the time. As far as after graduation.... that was a different story. I moved back home with my kids in 2007 and our divorce was final in 2008, but I ended up stuck back in the fast food industry. My degree seemed to hold no value, and with very little actual job experience, I just felt screwed. I have $15,000 in student loan debt and no job to show for my 3.79 GPA.

20 Reasons NOT to attend AIU (attended school 2012 to 2016) Lets say the issues are after Attending AIU for 4 years..... (typing fast here sorry for the mistakes)... this is my opinion and the truth And I gave AIU the benefit till I could not take it any more. Now I understand why they have such a LOW graduation rate according to FICA 1 - change online degrees a lot - means classes/schedule changes = More $$ for you and it is not your fault 2. They change their web site every 6-8 months... this means working out the bugs and so on, deleting things u like then once you get it down on how to do/locate things, it changes again... 4 years 8 MAJOR (100% changed) website changes 3. kept changing the Online company they uses for the library / digital books - so hard to use it - Google Schr was used 99% of the time 4. Instructors - most are nice but really they are just bad or just lazy instructors. 48 teachers in 4 years, and only 2 stood out in a good way. Not one follows the school requirements 100% so you need to adapt to every teacher as to what is good and bad EVEN if it is against policy- so tiring 5. Online school that has OUTSOURCE TO INDIA for their Tec support - they SUCK - they speak English but do not understand it - They read off a script and have now idea what you are talking about. Every time I got off the phone.... I always left frustrated because only 9 out of 10 issues were resolved on a good call. Most of the time I just hung up after explaining the same issue 10 times and got the same wrong answer 10 times. Go America! Hope you do not have a degree plan in IT, you lost your job before you got hired or even graduated to someone that makes $0.10 an hour....Change now while u can. 6. Class learn overlaps and teaches you the same thing, over and over and over.... I felt like I have only taken 6 classes for 4 years 7. School - Most all classes are 30% research, 30% theory and 40% B.S to fill in the paper. Was there Anything I learned.... not really, I can say, researching it is more like finding an article that relates to the subject and write a line and then make up another line to fill in the paragraph. I HONESTLY can say, after 4 years of school and 1000's of HOURS of work. I bet I could fit what I learned (NEW stuff) into a 15 minutes speech. you do the math on the time wasted! 8. Feedback on homework - questions, u get answers when it is too late to fix it, they will note that you did SOMETHING wrong but NOT tell you how to fix it, and they just give you a % in the Rubic grading. So you next to never know what you did wrong nor how to fix it so u keep doing the wrong thing for all 5 weeks in the class and loos out on the point. 9. Toooooooooo easy to pass these classes - Avg assignment - 3-5 pages, APA format, due on Sunday...just doing that and making 1/2 scene of the paper over the objectives listed will get u a 70% - yes you passed with out breaking a sweat! You could be 100% wrong and still pass the class as long as u did part 1 , 2, and 3. No joke! Many of the teacher will even tell u that! 10. Emailing instructors that only work 2 days a week - yeah u get answers days later and by then it is usually to late. Just wait till they give an general answer or understand your question wrong... 3 weeks of emails and you still don't have an answer to a question from week 1 and it is now week 4. I just quit asking. 11. Everything they do is a BRIEF .... how to use the school site, the library, do a APA paper, use XYZ, the LEARNING and the research. Prime example---- - Health care you MUST know one of 3 Software (according to them). we do a paper OUTLINING the BASIC functionally of 1 software BUT it is just that... a BRIEF over view. WE never see it, never use it, never demo it, Never see a video, or we never check out that companies web site. So when I get hired, I can say yes I know OF it but using it... nope. So How do I get a job after 4 years of college when they don't TRAIN you on something that they tell you it is MANDATORY to know. You'd think that would be on the degree plan other than LET TALK ABOUT IT. Waste of Money and time. Now after I graduated I have had to spend MORE of my Cash to learn something they should of taught me to in the first place. 12. The how to vids they have in my 4 years are still from 8 years ago.... they are so outdated that they make no scene to a student. They tell you to use these helper files but they are 100% outdated. They do not keep up the helper files up to date with the new Web layout. Then they have many u-tube.com learning vids too,,. problem is, they dont check to see if they are still Active on the u-tube website - 1 out of five seem to be removed from u-tube in every class. 13. a 24/7 school that has banker hours in helping students for anything other than tec support and we already talked about that. 14. They have these weekly posting boards in every class - IT IS THE SAME 5 QUESTIONS IN EVERY CLASS!!!! 4 years of coming up with the same thing to the same answer.....yeah u learned something here....> 1 in week 1 - how are these OBJECTIVES in this class going to help you in your career? Then, It is currently week 4, and the ? is - What did you learn in week 5 - I dont know I do not have a time machine. Why do you keep asking this? yep each one of those questions cost me $150 each - money well spent. 15 They partially have switched some papers (i'd say 30-40%) over to this Intellpath website program.... this is a Multi-choice test, - they give you a 3 or 4 paragraphs to read and it is a 20 page Chapter condensed to that - usually make NO since at all, then they ask you 8-10 questions... you can take the test over and over and over till you get a 100% with out any issue... BUT even if you get a 100% on ALL the "Nodes" (assignments) the best score is a 99% So the reading make no since, questions are too easy to cheat and they allow it !!! and you learn = Nothing. Then it is impossible to get a 100% 16 - dont even voice your opinion about the school - even raising your voice or TYPING IN CAPS to the teacher or counselor - they will jump all over you as if you murdered someone. 17. There is a lot of moody people - expecually in groups papers, there is always 1 person that has an excuse as to why they did not attend the group sessions till the last day (too late.) when they get out of hand and they have in EVERY class - the school does not support you ZERO! Nada - even if they used ever 4 letter word in the book and via email. Makes a lot of since after reading reason/line 16. Well you did not talk bad about the school just about another student and that is ok. 18. Major storms.... Unless there is a MAJOR storm (effecting 3 or more states at once) do expect any leeway from the teacher on turning in assignments late. I live in NM but in the Rockies - so 1-3 ft of snow happens a lot in every storm for me - NEVER EVER with even emailing Pics of the storm downfall did I get a waver... but NY/NH/VT gets 1 foot of snow and there is No late fees to the papers for those people ONLY in those states. Little unfair. because I live in NM and not NY or where ever - Happened EVERY YEAR in the winter month. 19. They can spell you name right on any of the degrees you earned....and then want to charge you $$$ for THEIR MISTAKE. REALLY? But what do you expect, they don't care if you learned or not, can spell or not, because they cannot! 20. Finical aid is easy... after all they are good at taking YOUR MONEY FAST - even if you say no only take what is needed and they MAX out your loan - they can not help you on THEIR mistake. U get hit with the Fine and extra interest, not them. They don't care. I hope this will shed some light on AIU.... If you want a cheep college AIU is the school for you - I went with them because of my remote location (Online was my only option), the degree plan choices, their lack of test taking at a different college like many and that they we also the cheapest college I could fine. My BS will cost me 35K - if I went with Kapa or another - 45K, Phoenix Univ was 70K I did not want to be broke for 10 or 15 years only 5. I did not switch due to the hassle of it and the additional cost and time needed to do it. So I stayed but it took a lot for me to say - I got what I paid for - $35K for 2 sheets of paper and l Learned nothing and was frustrated all the time! Would I recommend AIU - NO, NO , NO unless u want cheep and have LOTS of patients, then yes

I hate them so much. I know that is not nice to say but for a college program to steal from a working mother and ruin her credit for years and years to come is just too much. I did myself a huge disservice by going to this online school. Stafford loans just kept getting added onto my account somehow. I was only their one year from 2004 to 2005 and due to all of the loans that were put on by the Va, and or Stafford my credit has been ruined. and to this day I still don't have the transcripts to prove the work I did do. 17 credits worth. I was on the accelerated program. It sounded good to do at the time, and for a little while it was great, my teachers were nice and I was pretty much able to follow along, but then came the art class and that just was not something that you should do online, I know now that I need to be in front of a teacher with a dry erase board. Online was not the way for me nor was the amount of money this cost me. I tried several times to tell them to cancel the class and to drop out due to unforseen circumstances and I don't think they ever did so I got charged for classes i never took. I'm very disappointed and still trying to work my way out of the mess this caused me.

Ok but really NOT worth the money! Cost $30,000 for the MBA program but I can honestly say I walked away with little new information. Professors are knowledgeable but super lenient. And they charge you a "graduation fee" with no actual graduation...Don't waste your money!
