"American Sentinel RN-BSN Simpath is a self taught program. No actual instruction takes place, you teach yourself. I heard "google it" more as a answer than anything else. I had one instructor begin a reply email to me with "Again" annoyed that I was asking the same questions because she did not answer it the first time. Would not recommend this place. I am not new to academia nor am I unfamiliar with online education but this program is not worth the money. It is cheap and easy to get in to for a reason."

"It is unbelievable the amount of work they expect from you every week. I had a big paper due and I emailed the school's writing center, the instructor and my advisor for help and not one got back to me. Other times when I did get a response the instructor didn't know the answer and told me to ask another staff member. I was reluctant to start back to school after being out for so long but the advisor assured me that I would have good support at this school. I would not recommend this school."

"American Sentinel University provides great flexibility and ease. The short 8 week schedules plus the overlapping terms allow for greater ease of accomplishment. I only have praise for the professors that assisted me in accomplishing my goals. I also had my father who became critically ill during my studies and was able to get extensions in order to complete my courses without penalty. I highly recommend the school."

"No communication I had a instructor that was frequently unavailable , and didnt know who I was.. There is no support for the student in this college The advisor stated that he would send me an email with important information , But I never received it ."

"American Sentinel was a good fit for me, all my professors where accesssble and called me back when I needed to get clarifications. Most all my professors held PhDs or EdDs . Many tutorials were available and live conferences with the Deans at select times. They dont just take you regardless of credits as I needed 2 humanities courses extra to graduate. They are Nationally accredited and will have their Initial Regional accreditation as of 9/19 as it is a 4 year process . They also value Veterans as they give them lower tuition costs."

"I am currently completing my BSN in nursing. I felt compelled to write a review as I really feel American Sentinel online program has surpassed my past experiences with other universities. I have been a ADN nurse for 7 years and working mostly an overtime schedule with a 1 and 2 year old, this university has been comparable to my busy life. When signing up the process is smooth. Tramaine (admission advisor), was the friendliness, most informative person I initially spoke with. I was given a couple different success advisors initially but finally have been with one, Jacqui, for a good amount of time. She has assisted me whenever I need it. She responds so quickly to her emails and makes you feel as though you are "on campus", she provides many good options and priceless guidance during the program. The 8 week classes are great, the instructors are compassionate in their education and I actually feel I am learning tools that have and will be utilized in my career. The price is comparable to standard BSN programs but really provide top dollar education. I can't say enough about this program, I am so happy I chose American Sentinel and will have acquired my degree very soon. "American Sentinel's RN to BSN program, like most high caliber nursing programs, requires many hours of reading, research, writing discussions and assignments, power point presentations, voice thread technology, and knowledge of virtual patient and hospital situations. I had been out of school over 20 years and felt very anxious about returning to a world where new technologically-oriented teaching methods were mandatory. With the help of my husband to guide me with the technical aspect, I made It! The nursing instructors were very understanding about adults working full time and trying to get through school. I feel I received a quality education and learned many different aspects of nursing besides bedside care. Another positive about out American Sentinel was their tuition was far more affordable than most others. My nursing instructors were helpful and always ready to give you a second chance, providing you had proved yourself. If you really want your BSN, you can do it! Just know up front that you will put your life on hold for the next 18 months!"

"I was very satisfied with the online class work, The advisors and the school in general. I was able to complete my BSN online and didn't have to worry about additional test or clinicals. I was able to use my time more effectively than having to attend a classroom setting."

"This schools credits are not transferable, anywhere. The course load was ridiculous for 3 credits. The quality of my professors went from excellent (first course) to pathetically poor. I was advised to skip the readings and discussions and just work on my final project. Try straighter edge (for pre-reqs)!"

"I wish the advisors and admissions staff would've explained that this school is only nationally accredited. I wanted to pursue my MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner and was turned down by every college because this school is not regionally accredited. What a waste and certain states do not recognize a BSN from this school. I am finding this out now. Please do your research!"

"I found American Sentinel University to be the best work/life balance school out there. I worked full time 12 hour shift, while taking one class at a time. You can take two if you choose. If you are the spouse of an active military or veteran, you get a discount from charge. I would recommend this school to any RN looking for a good BSN, MSN, or DNP Program. Did I mentioned it's reasonable price, with excellent payment plan. I completed my BSN without owing a dime. A close friend of mine chose another school because she wanted a live in person teaching once a week. That's great, but after completing her BSN, she still owed $19,000."

"I will finish my BSN from ASU in about a month. As an experienced nurse out of nursing school for over 3 decades with other advanced degrees I found the program gave me an opportunity to earn my degree without travel - I live in a rural area - at a reasonable cost (compared to other schools I researched). The school has good online setup and resources. The instructors I had were all experienced, both clinically and academically, and helpful with student learning. I appreciated the flexibility of the program timeline and was able to finish my degree in 2.5 years, nine months of which I was disabled and unable to take classes. As with any education, you get out of it what you put into it. The program is setup in such a way that you can usually adapt your work interests into your course work. I would recommend this to others who are self-motivated and have reasonably good writing skills (if you do not I would suggest improving that area first). My BSN is and will continue to improve both my nursing and my job opportunities. The program is accredited by CCNE DEAC, and ACEN."

"I'm an older student. I found the research required for the essay's a good learning experience that did expand my knowledge. It took me a little over two years to obtain my degree while working 30+ hours a week. It is a CCNE accredited for nursing as well as accredited through the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council college which is a national credentialing body. I can pursue a MSN if I choose with many colleges both online as well as a few regional ones. What everyone has to understand, is that this is for nurses that have a resume that includes both experience and some college credits, and it is not for new nurses. It is an online school, so I don't think it is fair for people to compare it to Ivy league schools. I think it does give a quality BSN . I do feel I expanded my level of both writing and nursing knowledge to a BSN level. For me it was worth it."

"I went through the BSN program and was very impressed with the easiness of the program set up. The success was wonderful as far as following up and making sure my learning needs were met. I completed my degree in 18 months taking 1 class at a time. The program was easy to work in to my home life as well as being more affordable than other programs at less than $400/credit hour it was about the same price as my local University. My employer offered tuition reimbursement so the cost to me was very small and the Degree will have life long benefits. I plan to return to for my MSN in Nursing Education in January 2015. This school, like others must be re-accredited every 5 years. when I graduated they were up for renewal Dec 2014."

"I am so devastated at the fact that my employer,  does not accept nor acknowledge my BSN degree from American Sentinel University. Reason being, American Sentinel University is not recognized by the BORN in California or any other state BRN. American Sentinel University is CCNE and DETC accredited however; they are not regionally accredited. What a waste of time, money, and energy. I can't believe this. I am so devastated and humiliated at the entire process. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN SENTINEL UNIVERSITY unless you know exactly what education your employer wants you to have."
