Argosy University Online Reviews - Bachelor's in PsychologySee reviews of all programs at Argosy University Online
For the most part I am glad that I did attend Argosy University only because getting my undergraduate degree was needed for me to pursue my goal in social work, but like the other reviews the educators and counselors acted as if they were interested in my education only for financial gain. This school was more interested in my tuition fees then me. My problem was when I didn't see eye to eye with an instructor and I requested counseling with the Dean of psychology, they refuse to help me. The Dean never responded to my needs nor did the Dean of psychology called me to address my concerns. I made multiple calls for help but was never replied to, only person who replied to me was a volunteer personnel in the student service center department who act in the behalf of the Dean. I couldn't believe how this school function so poorly as a "so called University". This is one of the worst schools in the Universe. Now I am hearing that this school has closed down several of there campuses, what's going to happened to the current students? This was my fear when I was attending this school. It took me 3 1/2 years to complete my program, I had a couple of breaks in between from health issues but I am glad that I already graduated. I do not have to deal with this educational institution anymore. If you are a student that is looking to get a degree, do yourself a favor and attend another college, especially since more traditional schools have opened up their online programs to make it very easy for students like you and I to applied and get accepted fairly easy. Try a traditional school you will save money and time!
I started at Argosy in 2012, I was happy with the classes, but I had to leave due to family problems. Flash forward to 2018 and I am trying to get a copy of my transcripts and I'm told I owe over two thousand dollars due to financial aid not being dispersed, fine I pay what I owe and I was told by the FA office I would have the hold lifted after 24 hours and would be able to order transcripts. Now I'm getting the runaround from academic counseling; the school only mails transcripts, they DO NOT offer electronic transcripts. Don't bother with this school.
I completed my degree at Argosy University online in September of 2012. For the most part, the professors were great. I had a couple of rude ones and financial aid was good back then. However, about over a week ago, I needed my transcripts (and still do) and all I have been getting is the run-a-arounds. I was told from the operators and the admissions office that it takes the "register's office" 1 to 2 business days to get in touch with me....this is so NOT true! Its now on the second week and no one knows anything. Between the operators and the admissions office, all I am getting is the run-a-rounds. All they do is tell me to leave messages with the register's office "and I do" with no phone call back from the register's office. All I get is a voice machine. I even contacted the "director of admissions" through email and have not heard back from him either. I am so glad that I went to school back then instead of now. No one could not even pay me enough of money to go to Argosy. They are not even worth the money if someone paid me. Even if I got a scholarship for the whole 2 years, I still would not attend. IF they are this way now, I can imagine how it is for most students. I cannot get an answer from anyone about my transcripts. All I hear is that I am just an operator, so I dont know. They should make it a way that if someone is not answering in the "register's office" that someone can handle calls and situations like this. All I need is for the register's office to answer a few questions for me...and I CANNOT even get those questions answered.... Argosy University is not AS professional as they seem....
The school gives the run around when it comes to asking simple questions. This doesn't help with career placement nor any real guidance when it comes to finding employment leads. This school does not live up to what the academic advisor at Argosy University tell you. The financial aid advisor also gives you a lot of the wrong information. It's like they hired idiots to do a job
I started classes at Argosy back in 2015. After a few months I left due to my academic adviser harassing my phone every day. In March of 2017 I decided I would give them another try. As a veteran I receive money from the VA to cover books and tuition. However, my tuition counselor would call or email me wanting me to put in for a student loan to "cover books and tuition" when in reality they just wanted more money from me. During my attendance a couple family emergencies happened. A storm knocked power out in the house I live in for about a week and a few weeks after that my mom got sick and subsequently passed away a few months later. During both of these events I let my advisers know. On Sept. 11th, a day before the end of the early Sept. module, I was separated from my classes. I spoke to my education advisor and asked that they let the VA know I wasn't going to be starting the next module the following week. They never did and took the money the VA sent them. That left me with a $1,300 bill from the VA. On top of that, I somehow owe the school $2,400 in tuition that was covered by the VA the prior semester. What did I gain from Argosy during my 7 month enrollment? Nothing. Not only did I never take a class that pertained to my degree, I lost 5 months of my GI Bill to a school that would fight me every time I tried to sign up for a class to further my major and kept packing my schedule with "classes required by the school". Now I've attended online schools before and I know theres at least one general class about how online classes work, but 4-5? that's asinine. I wouldn't recommend this school to any vets. Not only did they screw up my classes, they took money from the VA knowing I wasn't going to be attending other classes. I'm going to SNHU. I've heard they're much better
I attend the Dallas Texas campus and I must say that the staff has always been amazing at this location. I learned so much and they pushed me and made me a better student. I have no regrets about attending this school. I have dealt with so many departments at this campus considering that I receive financial aid and I have some disabilities that the professors work with. As long as you are prepared to work hard and invest into your future then you will love this school.
Now that graduation is approaching, Argosy University is now telling me that I may not have enough funding to graduate. That is impossible, because the government awarded me $19,000.00 in grants along with subsidized and unsubsidized loans as of 2017. The university repeatedly comes up with numerous ways of keeping our grant funds. I have only received approximately $8,000.00 in grant money. My question is where is the rest of my funding. The balance would probably be enough for me to graduate.
I attended Argosy University Atlanta campus online in June of 2015. The online classes were great, classmates were engaged and respectful and the instructors were genuine prompt but there was always something or a feeling of discomfort and intuitive deceit about this school. I attended this school for one year only because the worries about is Argosy a scam feared me to stop attending, but still today January 14, 2017 I still think of it. I was accepted quickly, the school wasn't a school it was a rented space with about 8 people inside appearing to be having class, my advisors were changing and drowns you in chargers. Please If You Are Considering Argosy University, Do Your Own Research Of This Place, walk the floor they're renting, read the fine print maybe even record your conversation. You can't unbake a cake! Be very careful with any school especially for-profit institutions.
Overall my experience was good. Online education is so beneficial in so many ways, as I am not a traditional student. When I chose to go back to school, I was a very busy mom of four little boys (pregnant for two of the years). Without having the option to go back to school online I don't think I would of been able to finish my degree.
After taking several classes I realized that Argosy University does not fully endorse the idea of a "higher" education. They allow people to talk without any punctuation in their online classes. I actually felt discouraged while taking classes. I wouldn't recommend them to any of my friends or my worst enemy. When you are putting forth effort to ace your class and are forced to respond to your classmates who aren't educated enough to use capitalization, punctuation, or grammar makes you feel like you are paying for something that isn't reputable.
