Ashworth College Reviews of Certificates in Medical Transcription

"I don't like this college I dont even know why they call themselves a college. If you want to switch a program you are basically screwed. I paid for the medical transcription program in full its only been 4 months since then. I wanted to switch to accounting they told me I would have to cancel my medical transcription program and that I could not get a refund for it and I would have to pay all over again to take a new program. This is just a business that takes your money and provides you with a very basic knowledge of the program that you wish to study. If you're expecting anything other than that then you are screwed this isn't a college, and from the other reviews I'm reading I might have a problem with taking my exam in my state. So I'm stuck with a program I dont really want can't get a refund for it and now I might have a problem taking my exam very nice!"

"I took the medical transcription course. The reasons I do not recommend this college are the following: 1. Outdated materials. I was sent a medical dictionary from 1998. There is a program that is mentioned throughout the book, and I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work, only to find out that I didnt need it, though it probably would have worked with the foot pedal they sent. 2. Instructors dont have any contact information so I couldnt email and ask questions. I had to rely on representatives (they were nice) for that program issue previously mentioned. The ticket system is useless. It would take over a week to get a response and even then, it was absolutely no help. Theyd always say there wasnt enough information but wouldnt ask for it and close the ticket, saying the matter was resolved. Id have to figure things out for myself. I also sent an email AGES ago that still hasnt been responded to. 3. The quizzes were simple and hardly covered any of the material in the book. They didnt quiz on actual transcription, just medical information. There was no transcription practice anywhere that could be graded by an instructor and handed in. They provided exercises and the answers but I would have liked to have been able to contact a professor with any questions I had. So I had to figure out the final project by myself, which the foot pedal would have helped with but it wouldnt work, so I had to do everything manually. 4. Theyre holding my certificate hostage until everything is paid in full, so until then, I have to settle for a letter of completion. I completed the certification with a 4.00, spent countless nights studying and reading until 2-3am knowing I would have to wake up at 7-8am for my kid. I would like to have something to show for it other than a letter of completion. All in all, if I could give this college a negative, I would. Do not recommend one bit."

"I do not recommend this school to anyone. 1. The instructors dont have their emails for contact anywhere so I wasnt able to ask them for any assistance with anything. I had to rely on representatives. The ticket system they have is useless. Instead of asking for the missing information that they need, they close the ticket and say the matter was resolved. I sent an email about two months ago that has still not been replied to. Not that it matters anymore. 2. The material is outdated. I was sent a dictionary from 1998. There are programs mentioned in the textbook that are no longer needed to get the work done, so I wasted a good amount of time trying to download it and get it to work. 3. Now that Ive completed the certification, I have to wait for the certificate until everything isnt paid in full, which to me makes no sense. I completed it, doesnt mean Im gonna stop paying it. So if you think youre gonna get your certificate soon after completing it, not gonna happen. I finished this certification with minimal to no help from the actual instructors."

"Be aware before taking this course Ashworth IS NOT a approved program by AHDI It will be a waste of your money Which is the reason why they are a lot cheaper than the other approved programs Please visit the website for AHDI to get the list of approved programs And than when I called Ashworth college lady was very rude when I confronted her saying they were not approved Be aware your course won't be worth anything and will be a waste of miney"

"Let me start off by saying--- I am not sure about the overall credibility of Ashworth's degree programs. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in finance from an accredited university, however, I am entering the healthcare field, and I solely registered for the Medical Transcription program to gain some knowledge in Medical Terminology, and just gain some sort of experience in the field. Well, I began the program end of November, and I have been at a halt since then because they have not provided study materials. In this program, you are supposed to receive the first Medical Terminology/ Body Composition book (which is just a bunch of pages in a spiral notebook, which I did receive), an actual textbook, and a foot stepper. I have received three emails from the school advising me that they did not have the supplies available to ship out. There is no status as to when they expect the supplies to become available. This has been ongoing for almost two months. I find this to be very unprofessional. The school should not allow a student to register and pay for a class without having the proper materials available to send to the student, especially in a solely online environment. I am now 41% complete in the program, and I am not sure if I will ever complete as I have very little faith in their process. If you are looking for a degree program for the sake of having a degree, go for it! Just don't hold your breath while waiting for study material!"
