Dont complain Ashworth isn't a good school, Ive enrolled and Im almost done with my courses. You get accepted to colleges, don't complain if you don't know what is going on take online classes its easier!
Student support service is fair enough but some support representatives are ghetto they speak as if they never went to school "welcome to ashworffff college how may i assest you"
I must admit, when I call with an issue these days - they answer the phone in a much quicker time frame than they used to. So that is a major improvement. Don't expect any help along the way, or any real support. But if you are capable of completing assignments on your own, and following basic rules - this program was great. Some of the lessons were a little outdated, and for Computer Technology degrees - that can be an issue.
Also, I graduated 6 weeks ago - and they have no idea where my diploma is. They also have no way of tracking my diploma and I can't follow up with anybody else. I asked the person on the phone why a company would pay a 3rd party to supply diplomas to their students and then have no way to track whether or not that 3rd party is actually following through with creating and shipping diplomas :) Seems a little strange to me.
Books are very cheap, no color designs, for any needed studies in plumbing, and the printing is half a$$ed, like for the symbols of piping not all the way there and totally incorrect, they said in the books that the books aren't perfect yes, but how are you supposed to learn and pass your test if they cant even put the right symbols, and then put different information that contradicts each description, 1 star for poorly written text books, well they ain't even textbooks they're on a spiral like a cheap notebook.
I had primarily only factory work experience until I started working on my Associates in Business Management. Having this on my resume got my foot in the door at a great Financial Services company that would not have looked at me before. I have be extremely sucessful in this company and I am now close to completing my Bachelor's in Business Administration from Ashworth. This degree will open even more doors.
I did not have money when I started taking the courses so having an interest free monthly tuition payment was perfect. When I got my degree, I had no debt because of it. Over the years I have had some issues with books arriving late or courses not recording on the system. When I called I would wait for 20 minutes and then get different answers from different people. It is the worst part of going to Ashworth. I always dread calling. All in all though, it was the best decision that I could have made to get me out of a factory without getting me in debt.
Ashworth may be a good choice depending upon what your goals are. For me, I needed to learn landscaping design for our family business. The local college provides this training, but I would have to wait until next Fall to begin, and I need the knowledge now. I've really enjoyed my learning experience with Ashworth.
For the cost of one class elsewhere, I'm getting a fairly comprehensive look at the landscaping design process, though I wish it went into more detail on some topics. I plan to take a couple horticulture classes at my community college to get hands on experience with plants as well. Obviously an online school can't do that.
It can be the right option if you have a game plan. If you want to transfer their credits to a regionally accredited school, that may be a problem. Also some states require regionally accredited programs for some certificates and degrees, so do some research beforehand for your particular field or educational goals. It may work for you and save you a boatload of money.
I finished my AAS in CJ with Ashworth and enrolled in their BA in General Studies program. Had a few snafus with student services but they were all resolved. All my books arrive promptly and I have really enjoyed the program Textbooks are up to date and instructors are an email/phone call away. Try it you won't regret it. It has helped me in my career as a cop as well.
Definitely I can recommend this school. They give a lot of information for studying. Also on-line exam is strong and organized very properly. Good luck ! V.
I had gotten my AAS from Dakota tec. And decided to take the auto Cad course here because of the price. Later to find out that it is impossible to get help with your classes and they don't even offer the auto cad program to draw objects. It was a big wast of money. DO NOT GO HERE, please do some research before hand and look more into it. It is a scam.-Marine Corps vet
I am working on my general studies degree with Ashworth. At the same time I was accepted into the bachelors degree program in business adm at King College which is a private owned christian college. I go once a week on campus and I will earn my BBA in 16 months. They accepted all of ashworths credits and it saved me alot of money since I do not qualify for financial aid. If any of you are interested the college has online programs also and they will accept your ashworth credits.
I did not get my business class. degree at ashworth because it requires hard accounting classes, etc that I HAVE to take at King so I dont want to have to take it twice so I just went for my general studies, to get my general credits and some easy electives.I paid around 3200 for my assc. degree. I know many pple that are in debt for 20,000 or more for an assc. degree. I will graduate debt free and thanks to ashworth.
The downside is the customer service is not that great if something complicated comes up. And some of the books were VERY old. I had a math book that had tax law from 1998..they really need to update their stuff..but I have been getting mosty books from 2010 so Im good.
I received a medical billing and coding certificate through Ashworth College. The course work was not too hard, but it did require studying and dedication. I completed my courses in 5 months, I really like that I could work at my own pace.Whenever I encountered a problem I was assisted by the online staff. I would reccomend this college to any person who is self motivated and would like to take online courses. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
