Ashworth College

For me this was the way to earn my degree. I hated driving to classes after working all day. At first I was very concerned about attending Ashworth due to the negative comments I saw on the web about customer service or that its a scam. But I figured I would give it a try as I have started and quit 3 different times. Signing up took a bit that that was expected. I took advantage of the chance to test out of some of the classes in order to save money and time. This took a bit to get going but it did... Read More work out great for me. I was able to test out of 7 classes which saved me a lot of time and money in the end. Some of the classes were very easy for me and others took me back to studying once again. I did have to contact the school but it was due to my own issues and there policies. I never once had a negative contact with their customer service. If I felt I was right I would explain why and to my surprise they listened and ended up siding with me. I have not used my degree to move up in my career but I have moved on in my career and I do believe having this degree helped me and gave me one more item that others did not have. You get what you put into Ashworth I believe. If you want A's then you must do the work to get them. If you want to just get by and earn your degree at your own pace and your own environment then that path is there as well. The best part for me is that when I could no longer afford to pay upfront for each term I was able to finance my education with Ashworth with no interest. Granted you have to pay this loan before you receive your degree but you are listed as completed until your loan is paid in full. I wish I would have done this 20 years ago but of course this was not around then.

I began this degree program in 05/2008 and I finished 01/2010 but didn't receive the degree until 05/2014 when I was able to pay it off. That is an awfully long time to wait. It was a little awkward explaining to potential employers that I finished the program but the school was holding the degree but they were mostly understanding. That was my biggest gripe with the school. I'm about to finish my Bachelors program this year and this time I'm going to pay everything up front so they'll send the rest... Read More of my class materials and later my BSBA a.s.a.p. The school is best for those who prefer self paced independent study and for those who travel or work a lot. Occasionally there were some books on back order that I had to wait weeks for and some of the people who answer the 800 number seem like they don't care but all things considered it's an adequate school that fit my needs more than a traditional "brick and mortar" college.

I injured myself at work, and always did grunt work. I had to watch my kids, so my wife could take over and work for income. I love the studying and exams, I read the chapter assigned,highlighting, then take my exam, approximately this takes 4 hours. I have learned allot. My brother attends MATC in WI, my friend does online through Liberty.edu. When I talk with them on subjects that they both were involved with, it seemed as my brother learned all the same material as I, my friend on the other hand... Read More seemed mainly clueless by my discussions, maybe he searched for the answers online? What I am saying is, Ashworth is a very educational study/learning system, you can do lots of extra exercises that do not get graded, I have done some, but am in a hurry, so I will do the many others when I need to refresh my memory on all the topics I learned. I also save all my study material, which is assignments meant for you to do to make the exams easier for you, but not a requirement. It's all in what you put into it, and I will finish all ungraded material and put it in my work portfolio to show employers that I did go above and beyond, to show I actively try to know all I can in order to meet or exceed their expectations. My only downfalls with Ashworth are towards the end of the courses, they combine 2 to 3 exams in one, thats hard, but it teaches you to use your time wisely. The other downfall, I had 4 exams that I had a correct answer marked wrong, but it was correct, but they did fix it right away to give me the credit. (Another lesson learned, always check your answers if marked wrong). Private security, Private investigation, Intro to psychology (6 months and 80% complete @ 4-6 hrs/day, no weekends)

Let me start off by saying--- I am not sure about the overall credibility of Ashworth's degree programs. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in finance from an accredited university, however, I am entering the healthcare field, and I solely registered for the Medical Transcription program to gain some knowledge in Medical Terminology, and just gain some sort of experience in the field. Well, I began the program end of November, and I have been at a halt since then because they have not provided study... Read More materials. In this program, you are supposed to receive the first Medical Terminology/ Body Composition book (which is just a bunch of pages in a spiral notebook, which I did receive), an actual textbook, and a foot stepper. I have received three emails from the school advising me that they did not have the supplies available to ship out. There is no status as to when they expect the supplies to become available. This has been ongoing for almost two months. I find this to be very unprofessional. The school should not allow a student to register and pay for a class without having the proper materials available to send to the student, especially in a solely online environment. I am now 41% complete in the program, and I am not sure if I will ever complete as I have very little faith in their process. If you are looking for a degree program for the sake of having a degree, go for it! Just don't hold your breath while waiting for study material!

Alright, so here's the bottom line; if you want to further your career and education, it's a good school. No, it is not a top notch University. Obviously that's not what you're looking for, or you wouldn't be reading this. Am I right? It's so cheap, you don't even need financial aid. Myself, I'm doing this school to further my education in my career, so it's perfect for me. I work so much, I don't have time to physically be in school. Plus, I travel constantly. I checked into a bunch of schools before choosing this one. I did my research and I am satisfied. How can people say they don't learn anything with this school? Obviously, you're not trying. I am confused on how people say this is a horrible school. Teachers do communicate (every time I received a grade UNDER a C, I would get an email concerning my grades), I communicated to other students by the magical thing called a student portal BY CLICKING THE STUDENT PORTAL button, I received all rules through the other magical link called the student handbook. Yes, payment options are stretched, yes teachers do not jump on the a train to shove instructions down your throat, and yes, sometimes... Read More people in the help department are rude, I have gotten a few before, but mainly nice ones, but that is part of EVERY college. Ashworth is the third college I've attended *(the other two were physical classes -University of Florida and University of Alabama) with different degrees in all three. I just enjoy learning, but with my careers taking off, I went online. The school is incredible. If you check your emails, teachers do try and communicate with students and if you send them an email, you get a response quick, and assignments are due on your OWN TERMS, NOT in ten days! Ashworth is amazing and a wonderful place to learn. I would not mind taking a few more courses with them for another associates. I LOVE to learn! And it being online, some things will be different guys. Stop using your own irresponsibility to complain about others.

The courses are ridiculously hard due in part that the content does not make any damn sense. From every logical reasoning level. What you think could never be the answer actually is. If you fail something you really are not properly informed you will sit wondering why your cousre did not change when it was something in the wings you did not know you have to repeat. They send you to collections in a heartbeat and exaggerate the prices if you open one course and is unfinished you owe for the whole... Read More term which i was recently informed by the FTC is illegal to do so. If you chose a degree program then change your mind you must pay $50.00 and worst if you want to change from a bachelors to an associates that is not allowed and they don't advise you up front. It is exciting to go ahead though on your own time and do the classwork from anywhere. I really like the school except for those areas of opportunities i mentioned. If they fix that it would be phenominal. I have a couple classes left and several law schools accept the degree.

I love this college I have taken my online exams and passed with flying colors I would highly recommend this school. 6 months worth of studying and taking my exams has me working better a job and now have friends also joining this college. These reviews adout people saying its a scam a rip off etc. Do not know what they are talking about. During my initial conversation with the woman at Ashworth Collage should have been a red flag. I was excited about going back to school, and recently widowed with an eleven-year old son, left me vulnerable and naive. She seemed skillfully trained in persuasion, dodging questions, and stretching the truth. 1. She assured me the credits I earned from a community college would transfer, never happened. 2. Assured me the credits from Ashworth would transfer to most reputable colleges and universities,... Read More not true. 3. She told me I could opt out of Ashworth if I did not like it, and only pay for courses completed. Again, I came to find out this is not true. 4. I was told I could cancel classes within five days and get a full refund; however, there is nothing to really cancel after just five days, you never receive books, start classes, nothing, how is this helpful? 6. She failed to tell me that you never receive your degree until you have paid every penny owed to the collage. It never crossed my mind since everyone gets their degree then pays off their education loans. According to the wonderful payment plan she set me up with, I would get my bachelor’s degree in ten years! How is this a good thing? Remember, I had nothing to read, no school rules, nothing, just this woman’s word to go on. I did quickly check out their website, but opted to call and get the full details. I began my course work at Ashworth College, and quickly found out why the books were included in the tuition because there was none. I went through my first course, second, third, fourth, still no books, just lecture notes. Finally, I hit my fifth course and was elated to see I was finally going to get a real book to study. Well, I waited and waited, the book was on backorder, three weeks later still waiting. I call them and get nowhere, “it will be shipped as soon as we get it.” This college has no instructors. You read lecture notes, from who knows whom, do the work, and several different people grade the work for the same course, not one instructor. Again, extremely cheap tuition because you never have an instructor. I could have learned just as much doing free google searches. Absolutely no communication. Not once did I get a call to see how I was doing, never got anything in the mail welcoming me as a student, never an email checking my progress. There was nothing! I would not have known I was even a student at this college if I did not see courses were open. I had enough. This was not a collage, I was not learning much and it was unorganized. I began looking for a reputable good college or university to attend. I checked out several, and to my dismay, they nearly laughed when I asked if I could use my credits earned thus far from Ashworth. Credits were useless; I wasted my time and my money. To add salt to injury, when I called Ashworth to cancel my attendance, they informed me I would have to pay for the entire semester, even the courses I did not take yet, and that I owned the entire balance, which was 1,200, TODAY. She went on to tell me that if I did not pay it today, I had five days to pay, and if I did not pay in that time, they would turn it into a collection agency. I was shocked. I feel scammed and stupid. Worthless credits, wasted money I do not have, and wasted time. I can blame myself for not being more careful, but as I said, I had no paper work to look over. I never received documents from this school; there was nothing to go on except what this woman told me on the phone. I am guilty of being trustworthy, and stupid. PLEASE reconsider if you are thinking of attending this school. You really do get what you pay for.

Customer service reps are hardly ever helpful, they are also rude. You never have any actual communication with your instructor or know who it is. The instructions for assignments don't make any sense and the tutors thus far have been more or less a waste of time. They take 10 days to grade an assignment (you must log in everyday to check if they graded it, because they don't let you know otherwise that it has been done) and are rude in their comments. I love Ashworth college! I work full time and have a nine month old so finding time to study can get a bit hard but with Ashworth I can study whenever I want and learn as fast or slow as I want! My experience at Ashworth College has been amazing. I needed a college that I could attend that would be affordable, convenient and flexible with my schedule. I came across Ashworth College and at first I was a bit skeptical because, there are so many online college scams out there and I didn't want this to be another one. I contacted the school by phone and they answered my promply but, I did not like how they tried to push me into the program by bargaining that I could start with as little as $5 or $10 dollars. I mean come on, give people the opportunity to decide first. But, once I started Ashworth College I was amazed at the content, easy access of the web page and it's design. I like how organized the website is, it looks better than most universities and community colleges websites and it is very easy to navigate. What made me decide to attend Ashworth was the value of the program, Ashworth is nationally accredited and some people have a problem with that because it is not regional but nationally is better than regional in my opinion because, this program is useful in more than just one area or state. I started the Medical Office Assistant program and it's not the certificate that make this prgram have value it is the fact that you can become certified with the NHA and that makes this course worth it. I noticed a lot of people complaining about how long it took their books to ship and I always got my within 5-7 business days without a problem or anything. The books are very up to date with the latest Healthcare information and facts and understandable to read. I have learned more through this program than any community college I could have ever attended. Also, I heard people complaining about how they call the school and it takes to long to get a response. I have never had a problem getting a response no matter if I called or sent an email I was always answered directly or within the next day by email. Ashworth College is an awesome opportunity for anyone who is seeking a higher education but, does not want to be filled with the burden of borrowing a substantial loan just to get a quality education. For me this school was affordable and I was able to make monthly payments without borrowing anything or even needing a grant. And it should be because all you are paying for is the books and website content. I'm so glad that I have had the opportunity to attend this school and will continue back in the near future. I highly recommend this school and I hope that they continue to serve their students with a great quality education at an affordable cost.

I am extremely disappointed with Ashworth College. Their student services is just useless. Somehow one of my assignments showed me that I attempted to submit it twice which resulted in me getting the passing grade instead of the grade from the instructor. I didn't think this would be a big issue to call about since it must have been a blank page that was submitted or it was an error in the system. I already called twice about it without anyone being able to help me. Their excuse both times was that... If this issue is not going to be resolved I will switch back to Pennfoster. I liked the structure of their webpage a lot better and they actually send me books to every topic which Ashworth doesn't do yet they charge the same as Pennfoster?! I'm not happy about this situation and it's so frustrating! There are a lot of good things about online college but this is something that wouldn't even be an issue in a regular college.

I would say that I have been having a great experience with Ashworth College. I'm going to graduate very soon I still have only 10 more courses to go which I'm planning on finishing them this year. Support is always available by phone calls/ emails. the system is very easy to use it gives you a very good flow for studying. you always know what to expect during the journey. I've learned a great deal of knowledge in education from ashworth. I never understand why people keep saying that Ashworth is a scam. I think this happens to all online degrees you have to work hard in order to get the results no one is going to push you or make you do things you have to be very self-motivated when enrolled in an online course. is true that Ashworth is not regionally accredited but with the popularity of distance learning, nationally accredited degrees of the department of distance education have become a lot more acepted 70% of ashworth graduates are able to transfer their credits to regionally accredited schools. I think the result is absolutely worth the price. The price is extremely affordable as well. It basically provides a lot of people with the opportunity of finishing college because of the price and the flexibility. I would recommend ashworth to those who are self-motivated and proactive. because no one is gonna sit around and tell you what to do you have to do things by yourself independently in order to make achievements. i would not recommend it if you're trying to get into a masters program of a top university afterwards. However for career and regular further study ashworth would definitely be a good start to the path.

Ashworth is a great college, I have completed my associates, in early Childhood Education, with the aim of working on my bachelor with Ashworth college Ashworth is a top notch college, just as any other top notch college. Before you consider Ashworth make sure you understand that if you enroll and decide you do not want to continue the program you have to call them or email as they quite deceptively make it very difficult to cancel. I myself like many others tried a program. I only completed the introduction part and decided it was not for me. I went online to look for a place to cancel tried to cancel and spent hours looking with no success. Like most people with a job and a busy life you move on and eventually forget... Well then Ashworth comes knocking to tell you that you owe them money most of the time it does not even happen till you are at the point where the program time has lapsed and they want you to pay for the entire program even if you never attended class. You can try to appeal to them like I did and they do not care they want money for having given you little or nothing. If you do not pay they send you to collections ruining you're credit. Even though you made a common assumption that the school did not contact you and you did not continue in the program so you would be removed or dropped like a normal college. No not ash worth instead they leave you enrolled until you owe the full amount then they contact you looking for money and send you to collections unless you pay. Shady indeed !!! I review Ashworth College as being a great college to receive an education. The courses are very straight forward. It's Affordable, and they have a great payment plan.
