I was taking medical Billing and coding at Penn Foster Career School untill my account went delinquent. I plan on attending Penn Foster in feb of 2011 to complete the program. I now attend ashworth college, and I'm enrolled in the medical billing and claims program. I just started, and I only have five lessons left.
To me the experience is different with both schools I noticed. Penn foster sends their books out within three days. Ashworth takes almost a week in-a-half just to for you to recieve their books. Penn Foster is more detailed in studies, and have more lessons related to the program for the state exam.
Ashworth have just medical terminology lessons, claim lessons, and coding. That is a lot of the reason ashworth is just nationally accredited, which is not a bad accreditation. I just rather get information to prepare me for the ahima state exam for the cca (certified coding associate). I'm not saying ashworth is a bad school, but I recommend Penn Foster. The school has more programs and their career school is regionally accredited.
So, if you are thinking of pursing a degree in medical billing and coding the lessons you take may transfer into credits to a regionally or nationally accredited school. Just remeber research wisely and understand the requirements for certification and local jobs in your area regarding education! If anyone have questions for me just email me at email@example.com.
Hello, My name is A., and I'm currently attending Ashworth College for medical billing and claims. I started the program 11-02-10, and I have already completed most of the program. I have researched online to see if anyone completed there program at a quick pace. It's not a hard program, and it isn't easy either. If anyone has completed there program in less than 4 months, it would be great if you would post. This lets me know that there are people who learns at a quick pace, and studies a lot. Also, I'm interested in how long it took different people to complete their programs. So, please post!!!!
I recently graduated from Penn Foster and it's rock solid. However, they don't offer a psychology program, so I enrolled in Ashworth.
I like the energy and enthusiasm at Ashworth and the low tution is simply an incredible value for people like me that are on a tight budget.
I don't think you'll find two better online schools than Ashworth or Penn Foster. They both excel at what they do.
Employers don't care if a school is RA or NA, all they care about is if it is accredited and that you passed.
Most of these RA v. NA debates are started by people whom feel threatened by the emergence and success of online schools like Ashworth and Penn Foster. Yet, many of these regionalists are now jumping onboard and offering programs online.
Overall, I'm pleased with the smooth enrollment process at Ashworth.
I recently earned my Associates Degree from Ashworth in Business Management. I am now working on my Bachelors Degree with Ashworth. I am reading the other reviews and can't believe all the bad reviews the school has gotten. I love Ashworth. I have been with the school since 2005 and have had NO PROBLEMS!I lost my job was having a hard time with making tuition payments and they worked with me. I never had to stop going to school. Customer service very helpful. I would recommend Ashworth!
I am now pursuing by BS in Early Childhood Education after being out of school for 20 years. Ashworth has a quality program and I have so far experienced good service. They are NOT a diploma mill. If you don't pass a class you have to re take it. As for employers or other colleges not accepting their credits, this is not totally true.
It depends on your state. I live in Florida, which is recognized but my sister live in another state which does not recognize. It's about money. State colleges want your money, of course. Distance learning is the future. Write your congressmen/women and demand that quality online schools be recognized!
My wife and I are currently enrolled in courses and all I can say simply put is.....Ashworth College rocks!!! the people are GREAT!!!! the lessons are totally outstanding in every way, nothing left to chance or to guess about......I am really, really pleased and when I finish with my course I want to enroll in another course and continue!!!!!!!!!!
THANKYOU FOR EVERYTHING ASHWORTH!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!
I obtained AA in Early Childhood Education from Ashworth but I am back in Community College. This school is not regionally accrdited and the state of North Carolina doesn't accept my degree from Ashworth. So I pretty much wasted my money and time. I hope nobody else will make a mistake I made.
I used to have lots of trouble in school. I started to feel school was just not for me. I knew deep down in order to gain a career instead of a job that I would need education. I tried Ashworth and I am so happy I did. I think I was distracted in a classroom environment with all that was going on around me. For once in my life I can actually say I am smart! I just had to find my style of learning. I understand all of my assignments and my grades are so high now. Now I can say school is for me and I owe it all the Ashworth College. I believe if you put your mind to it anything is possible. I am taking the Security Management Associate Degree Program. When I began, I was securing apartment complexes in a patrol car not making enough to provide for my family. Since I have been enrolled with Ashworth College, I have been able to apply what I have been taught and I now have been promoted to the Criminal Investigations unit in my company. I owe a lot of my success to Ashworth and hope you find the same results!
I would be very careful when enrolling in this school. I didn't find out til after the fact that I couldn't take a state certification test. So basically I just threw away 900.00. I can withdraw and pay a horrible amount. I would not recommend this school to anyone.. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have recently taken and completed the Forensic Science program with Ashworth. This course has helped me in my career (police officer). I have also checked Ashworth and found that Ashworth is accredited through the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), which is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as the “nationally recognized accrediting agency” for distance education institutions. I would recommend Ashworth to anyone wanting to better themselves.
