"I feel my graduate program gives me the hands on knowledge and experience needed to enter a related field directly after graduation. The Environmental Management graduate program is fairly small, meaning access to peers and professors is very easy. The content within the program is very quite expansive, but can be narrowed if desired. If I could change anything about this program, I would like more classes dedicated to graduate students only. Many of the courses offered are blended courses with graduate students as well as undergraduates, graduate students have additional assignments and higher standards."

"Ball State is a great school for majoring in Education or Telecommunications. It is a frontrunner in expanding and maintaining the use of technology throughout the entire campus."

"Pros: This school provides low cost tuition for a competitive degree. Cons: There are a lot of professors who do not seem to care much for their students. The city of Muncie is also not an ideal location."

"My time at Ball State University, working towards my Master of Urban and Regional Planning, was a great experience. I was very fortunate to receive a large amount of financial assistance. The curriculum was challenging, but never overwhelming. Most professors were easily accessible and friendly. Their network may not be as strong as other colleges, and student life outside of campus is not as glamorous as other schools, but I would still go back to Ball State in a heartbeat!"

"There are many pros and the most important one is having an excellent piano teacher. This school was absolutely the best option for me because of how thoughtful and skilled my professor is. I have felt a lot of support from the Music Department in pursuing my dreams and goals. I could not have encountered a better place to be at the moment. The only con is the small city of Muncie where it is located. It is difficult to find things to do outside of class that will help students relax and live a balanced life. There are no venues for arts entertainment outside of the school such as theaters, an orchestra, dance or anything that could also help student's artistic growth."

"I received a great education through Ball State for my Master's degree. I am using my degree to further my understanding of special education, specifically in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis with an emphasis on Autism. I am pleased with the education I have received, and the online format worked well with my busy lifestyle."

"One of the pros of being in the Physiology gradute program at Ball State University is its intensity. The student must learn the information to an expert proficiency and be able to functionally apply it in a real world-scenario as opposed to simply being able to regurgitate information. Another benefit of the program is the dual prepration for a career in Medicine or in Research (Industry). One of the disadvantages of this program is the availability of the core staff for office hours and regular meetings with students. I spent an entire semester trying to meet with one of the professors and never did because she said she was too busy and gave me bonus points instead."

"Ball State was an excellent school for teacher preparation. I've been teaching for 3 years now and have had numerous conversations with co-workers about our prepatory classes. Ball State does an excellent job preparing teachers and does a much better job than most colleges that I've dealt with. I have had 2 student teachers throughout my career (from 2 different colleges) and was very dissatisfied with their program, in comparison to what I went through. Ball State throws you into a classroom your first semester and then consistently builds it's curriculum off student applications. Once accepted into the teacher's college, you spend more time working with students and gaining hands on experience than you do in a lecture hall. I loved Ball State's program. Ball State is a very well balanced college. It's a great education experience, with an excellent degree reputation. It has a fantastic social community, great social aspects, and many incredible leadership programs."

"This is a very new MFA program in glass, there are a few bumps in the road, but there is generous financial support, the faculty is great, and there's a great little community in the art school. Muncie isn't the most exciting place in the world but its kind of a perfect place to focus on your graduate studies!"

"The faculty I have worked with are unbelievably helpful and knowledgeable. When I entered the Masters program in clinical psychology, not only was I offered an assistance-ship that included a stipend, I was given a tuition reimbursement, but also a 500 dollar credit to use towards my on-campus housing. Unfortunately this is not enough for me to live off of and due to the nature of my assistance-ship and my degree requirements I am unable to get a second job. Ball State has gone above and beyond what I expected, especially where their staff and faculty are concerned, but they do not offer graduate scholarships."

"The education I have received so far at Ball State during my undergraduate and graduate experiences has been exceptional thus far. I have been pushed in all aspects of my field academically, and the knowledge and experience I gained has rewarded me professionally. Ball State has great professors and a challenging curriculum, which has provided me with valuable experiences to prepare me for life after college. My biggest obstacle has been finding the funds to continue my education through the required 2 years of graduate school necessary to earn my architectural license to practice professionally."

"I really enjoy going beyond the application of accounting techniques and exploring the foundation of the profession. The graduate program in accounting is highly discussion-based, causing each student to develop and exercise critical thinking skills and ask questions. The professors are intelligent, kind, helpful, and genuinely care about the students' educational and career success. The size of the program allows students to better get to know one another and work together to ensure success."

  • Degree: Journalism
"The program is well structured and designed. The professors are knowledgeable and come from real-world field experiences. A heavy focus on practice of concepts for proof of learning is the keystone. While there is still a lot of pressure placed on style journalism, talk of what comes next with the new media is definitely taking center stage. They have recently moved the entire program to an online format as well as in-class format. This new format focuses more heavily on the newly emerging media systems and digital communication, while the in-class system still has a throw-back feel with its look at sociological systems as they relate to journalism. The campus is nice, with wi-fi everywhere and a high level of tech throughout. Students are mostly friendly and staff are understanding and flexible within reason. The city of Muncie, in which the school resides, is a bit small, rural, and not diverse. This has led to the school being the largest entity in the community and the largest diverse population. Living areas around the school are mostly older and often un-cared for as they are rental properties and landlords don't care about students, just their money. Some areas within walking distance of the school are not safe, and there has been some spill over into the campus area."

"I enjoyed Ball State. It was much larger than my high school but not overwhelming. There were many, many activities to do and the dorm life was welcoming my first couple of years. I would've gone elsewhere and done just political science. I originally wanted to be a TV journalist. Do not go to grad school unless it is paid for by someone else - scholarships, work, etc. or it is required (MD, law, etc.) It's extremely expensive. Upon leaving grad school, I had over 50K in debt for that degree."
