"Bellevue College has been a great ride! I recommend this school to anyone who doesn't want to just waste their time and money. Very nice and helpful advisors in international office made my whole college experience amazing!! To come to BC has been one of the best decisions I have made in my education career thus far. I just landed a great OPT internship that I couldn't even dream about a few years ago!"

  • Degree: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
"I had heard good reviews from their CNA program from some friends taken in Spring 2018. And it took me quite a bit of effort to register for Winter 2019 after my application being pushed up from Fall 2018 because they did not have enough staffs to teach. It's all started from there. We had lectures (NAC 106) and skill lab sessions (NAC 107). The lectures were taught by only one temporary professor Moly, while Janice, Faina and Theresa helped us with the skill labs. Our lab professors were the most supportive ones but I want to cut off here because it will be lengthy to say everything. However, Moly was my worst experience in the past 3 years at BC. She introduced herself in front of our class saying "I have problem with understanding", no wonder why all her tests were over complicated in wordings. No one in my class got an A or even A- for Nursing Assistant classes (which we did not find out it will show on our transcript by the end of the quarter). I had couple office talks with Moly. She treated me differently because I'm a POC (person of color). I remember how she threw the Nursing book in front of me and tell me to read her two lines. My tears lined up when I read, thus, I screw up reading just two lines because I was too scared. All she said was that "English is your second language? Then you re not going to make it through nursing school", basically told me to give up - with a cold face. Then they tried to failed us. Our class had 13 people, 10 will go to Overlake and 3 was too little to be arranged to other hospitals. We all knew their intention. My friends' class in 2018 has 18 people so 10 go to Overlake and 8 went to Swedish. But not us. They did not have enough professors and the hospital wont accept training only 3 students. Lots of thing happened. But I did not let them screw up my education like that. Did they think we pay tuition just for fun? They basically were IRRESPONSIBLE. Amanda as Nursing Coordinator is the worst in communication. She said to send me clinical schedule soon. And then she went on VACATION in the middle of nowhere. I called her office #, phone #, no answers. That was two days before our shifts started, and I had no idea how to finish my clinical rotations if I miss this chance. I was desperate, so I reached out for the Dean for help. And here it goes with more lies to come. She said she did not know that her employee go on vacation, "Oh do you know when she comes back?". Promised me that she will go through email to see if Amanda sent her anything about our case and get back to me that night FOR SURE. I had a sleepless night waiting for her response. Nothing. I came to her office again but first she tried not to see me. I had to convince the front desk person that it was emergency and that was the last day before we could go with the group. She ran up to the Dean's office and I finally talked to her. More lies. She said she had NO INFORMATION about who, when, where going to the Nursing home. I was naive enough to say that I know everything and gave her the phone number, email of the our lab professor who's taking us there the next day. And I said that there will be only 6 students go to the nursing home, while the limit is 10. She said "oh of course, so you guys just go". So we joined. Everything else went well. But couple weeks later I realized that the Dean was the one who sent out clinical schedule to our class. It was a lie saying she knew nothing about it. That was the first rotation. We have the second one at the hospital. Amanda used immunization first to not let me go to Overlake while other coordinator Melissa said my record is ok to go. They basically had a debate through emails and I read them all. Then for some reasons, we never received our schedule. Of course it's because Overlake only takes 10. The rest of us could join. I was very very disappointed. As an international student, I paid 3 times more tuition than WA residents and I have to face legal action by not completing enough 12 credits for the quarter. They treated me like a joke. Took my money and did not care anything about my education. Next, I sent an email to the Dean saying HOW we can finish our class, and HOW is she gonna refund my tuition as well as give me an explanation. We could have to wait for ANOTHER YEAR to finish just NAC 108 because their program don't open every quarter. I had to send couple more emails to the Dean herself, coordinator and met them in person for them to finally gave us a solution. By the very end of the quarter, she arranged us to a rehab center to finish the last hours. Anything after that was great... In short, never in my life I had to fight so much for my education. I hope they could be more responsible as the educators. Not taking our money and doesn't give a damn about us. It's just I am grateful for the mental breakdowns while in the program and it makes me become stronger. My friends are in Nursing program and they also regret going there. As of for me, I'm sorry but I would never go near this Nursing program unless they change the system. It's broken!"

"After reading multiple reviews of this school, I was a bit nervous about attending. However, I eventually submitted my application and got accepted. Let's take this one category at a time starting with the student advisor. My student advisor at first was very helpful. She quickly replied to my emails and answered all of my questions. I had a lot of questions as this was my first time ever attending university. Soon after I began classes, my student advisor left and I was assigned another advisor. The second advisor was amazing. He was able to help me with everything I asked and he always replied in a timely manner. He made it feel like we were working together to complete this degree. From scheduling classes, to making sure that I graduated when I wanted to, he was there every step of the way and never pointed me in the wrong direction. Now, we move onto the instructors. For the most part the instructors were helpful. I had a few instructors that I didn't care for, but I cannot say that they were "bad". It just seemed like they were not all that invested in my success. However, there were other instructors that were absolutely amazing and took the effort to provide real feedback on the assignments. I cannot image someone attending a school and never having an instructor they didn't care for. The good professors greatly outweighed the negative experiences I had. I had a few Gen Ed classes that my credits from the military did not cover. So I ended up taking English, Math, History, and Oral Communications. The two biggest problems I had were with Math and Oral Communications. The oral communications class requires you to film yourself in front of a group giving a speech. This can be difficult if you do not have people available to help you complete these assignments. The math class utilizes ALEKS, which is an online math program that is separate from the university. This program is utter trash and I think moving to something like Pearson would be advisable. All of my other classes were good. Normal classes have 1 discussion board post per week, and require 3 - 5 substantial replies to fellow students. You will also normally have a 1 - 2 page paper to do per week along with a quiz and the weekly reading. I am relatively quick when it comes to writing papers so it normally didn't take me long to knock out 1 - 2 pages. I was taking 3 classes per term which resulted in having 1 paper per week per class on average. You need to make sure you can manage your time effectively. If you don't turn in your paper on time, you will not get credit. Simple as that. Some people on here say that they had trouble with the financial department and the GI Bill... I never had a single issue with them. Also the Kirkpatrick Signature Series classes were not my favorite, but they were far from difficult. The main objective of the classes is to teach students to think objectively about the politics without your conservative or liberal bias showing in your work. If people failed that class, it is because they were unable to effectively separate their viewpoints from the material. I work full time 40+ hours a week, we had a child while I was taking classes, and I still managed to get a 3.98 GPA. It can be done, but it is not going to just be given to you. You need to put in the work to make it happen. While certainly think that there are things the school could do better, overall, I am happy with my decision to attend and to get my degree. There are many points that I was frustrated, but in the end, it was worth it."

"Communication is awful. Prepare to clear your schedule entirely for two years. Classes are at different times every day, every week. They give you your clinical schedules at the last minute, and have a particular knack for placing everyone at the hospitals furthest from their homes. Nursing school is time consuming, but this one makes it unnecessarily complicated for everyone. Some of the instructors were awful to put it mildly, including clinical ones that were downright hostile to students."

"I have 70 college credits. They told me that only 21 credits would transfer. On their website they say that they will accept all your associate credits and that they have an open transfer policy. They are also partnered with the college I was attending. They completely lied!! They want me to almost start over. They said I had to take 20 something credits of general education all over again!! It's crazy. They only have money on the mind. They are liars. Run. Get a preliminary transfer report first!!"

"I received an associates in Business DTA. I had no issues transferring my credits to a 4-year university and the things that I learned prepared me for the higher level courses I have taken at the 4-year university. I took all the courses online and they were great. I also got a new job a month after graduation. All in all, it was a great experience. I would recommend Bellevue for anyone who wants to transfer to a 4-year college and major in Accounting."

"When I first entered the school, I had the mind set of not obtaining an Associates Degree. I thought I should keep my head down and do my school work. Then, I encountered several people involved throughout the school and not limited to the following programs:Associated Student Government, Multi-Cultural Services, Career Center, and the STEM to Stern Program. The people involved in these programs helped me along the way through my rigorous course load. They worked with me to plan for the future. Allowing me to come to the decision of pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Renewable energy. I would recommend Bellevue College to any student wanting to pursue any degree. They have taught me not only the science related knowledge but have prepared me for my future career pathway. It is a great institution to start a student in the right direction."

"Bellevue College was a great school. I am paying for my own school, so I could not afford to go to a four year university right after high school. I am glad I made that choice though, because I got an excellent education for less money than a university. The classes are also small so it isn't as overwhelming. Every professor I have had has been great as well. They are eager to help their students succeed and will meet with you outside of class. I am now at Western Washington University, and I got a 4.0 for my first quarter there."

"Overall, Animation Mentor taught me the skills required to be successful in the animation industry. However, due to the saturation of emoployment in the industry the limited skillset is rather useless. The unfortunate part of the entire process was the fact that the co-founder of the school kept on expressing the growth of the industry however, when you look at VFX Studios they are barely surviving thus resulting in less jobs. A good example is Rhythm & Hues which shut down after Life of Pi was created because they did not receive any profit sharing from the success of the movie. Another thing about Animation Mentor is unless you want to stricly film animation I do not recommend it. If you want to focus on video game animation I would recommend iAnimate over Animation Mentor. Due to the limitations of movie focused animation it was extremely frustrating since game animation is quite different in regards to what you need to be good at."
