Capella University Reviews - Bachelor's in Accounting
I applied to Capella and got immediately accepted. I chose not to take out student loans as I was not comfortable with making a commitment as such. There is always the what-ifs, I decided to pay out of pocket on a monthly basis. Fast forward a year later, I am being taken to collections for my balance due on my tuition. Capella never once contacted me in regards of my monthly payments. This morning I was contacted by Williams & Fudge about a past due balance from Capella University. I reached out to Capella to get some sort of answers, mainly to verify that my account was actually turned over to collections. I got no response back from the university, but instead, I am now being contacted via phone and email by the collections agency.
I love this school and how they teach at this school. I earned my bachelor's degree in accounting and I was able to get an accounting job while attending this school. I had a lot of great professors who would set up a time for me to call them when I needed help with an assignment. Capella University is accredited by acbsp which in the state of Illinois is a requirement to be able to sit for the CPA exam but you have to have some master degree classes taken before you can sit for it. I have had great experience with their traditional learning. I'm not a fan of their flex-path program but that's because I didn't feel like the instructors were that involved or helpful. I do recommend this school I just don't recommend the flex-path plus AICPA doesn't recognize competency based classes anymore so if you want to sit for the CPA exam take their traditional classes.
I literally wish I could give this school a negative star. This University is the sorriest excuse for a school I have ever researched. Like seriously do your home work before considering this school. Look at their classes and make sure they have the classes you need, to not only achieve the degree you want, but also that you will be proficient in the career path you are choosing to get into. So I will be going to school to get my bachelors degree in accountancy to be able to sit for my CPA Exam when i am done. So, to be able to sit for the exam you must have very specific amount of credits and specific classes you must take take be able to sit for the exam. So I am going through Capella's classes and checking off the classes I need from my state. And I am noticing Capella's CPA Pathway program is lacking TREMENDOUSLY! Now the course requirements per my state isn't asking for any crazy or irrational. They require stuff like, a class in AUDITING. Which Capella doesn't offer AT ALL in the BA in accountant CPA Pathway Program. What kind of school offers a degree in accountancy but don't offer Auditing? Another class they do not offer which is required is Financial Reporting, or anything dealing with spread sheets. They are misleading students left and right. I was told by my enrollment agent they are up to date with each states licensure requirements. THAT IS A LIE. If i had gone through with their program and lies, I would have graduated looking like a fool trying to sit for my CPA Exam and being turned away because i am missing a tone of course credits. DO YOUR HOME WORK. Make sure you will be getting the education you need to excel in the career you are PAYING to get into. Because they will have you twisted and not knowing basic things to go out and get a job! I bet you, if they offered a literature degree they wouldn't even review Romeo and Juliet or if they offered an composers degree you wouldn't review Mozart. Like that's how ridiculous this school is! They are a joke.
I love the self-paced program offered at Capella. Working at my own pace has allowed me to get more of my schooling complete (while working full time) than I ever thought possible. However, I wish that the instructors were more engaged; most of the time when I have a question about an assignment, I am directed to speak with a tutor. What is the point of having an instructor for a class if they are not instructing?
I love my courses and time management is the key! Not yet finish, but I am staying on the right track. My C.P.A. program is perfect. You have to stay focus and complete all assignments and quizzes. If there's problems teachers and faculty is always there to help.
