Capella University Reviews - Bachelor's in BusinessSee reviews of all programs at Capella University
Before enrolling at Capella University, my vision was frosted. I did not know where to start or how to start but I started. Capella helped with everything from financial assistance to advising. Since then, I own 2 companies, one of which is a consulting firm, Ezra Blaze Consulting Firm, LLC North Charleston, South Carolina, and Entebbe, Uganda and GonZaga International Company, Ltd., Headquartered in Entebbe, Uganda. In addition, I started my studies in Spring 2011 and graduated Fall 2018, I do not believe I would have been able to accomplish what I have accomplished without Capella and its support staff. The classes were relevant to my goals and I am still able to use the resources that were introduced by Capella in my business today. To anyone that is thinking of attending Capella University, I say go for it. All the best!
I was enrolled in the flex path program from 2016-2018, I had very little guidance. Also, whenever I reached out to the staff members I was met with condescending attitudes. As though I was a bother, I believe because I am a working professional the instructors assumed that I should know the material. Which was an insane notion. Honestly, what got me through the program was self motivation. This is not a program for students of diversity, which is the population the program is geared towards.
I really liked my experience with Capella. It was a nice compromise between independent learning and traditional education. The professors were knowledgeable in their fields, and offered great guidance. After three years, I had very few negative interactions. I also found that when students were unnecessarily unpleasant, they seemed to have been weeded out, which is great. The basic format of the school is that a professional tells you what to learn, you learn it, and you write a paper showing that you learned the material every week. You definitely need some self-discipline, but it's better than traffic and parking passes, especially for a full-time student and full-time professional.
My experience has been amazing from the very beginning. My Enrollment Counselor, S.S., was beyond helpful and amazing to work with. My Academic Advisor, M.G. is very helpful and always answers any question I manage to come up with. The instructors are always trying to be as helpful as possible to help you succeed and pass the course. The BS/MBA combined degree option is not available for FlexPath. So if you are in FlexPath you will have to go to GuidedPath to complete the last few courses that are Master's level. The other thing I want to point out is the Scholarship disbursement. If you are awarded a Scholarship through Capella, they decide how it's disbursed through the quarters. I don't necessarily agree with that. I think if you are awarded a Scholarship, you should have the right to choose how you want it disbursed in your quarters.
I would NOT recommend this school to ANYONE. I withdrew from classes and they still charged me. They have me a ton of problems with financial aid, problems that I never had with my other university. They will not release my transcripts making it IMPOSSIBLE for me to get into a program elsewhere. Absolutely would not attend here and would not recommend anyone else to. Find a school that actually cares about their students instead of the money.
Capella University is a joke! Their Flex Path program is a huge waste of money. I tried to withdraw and they ignored me and still charged me for classes. I would not recommend this school to anyone! They say I owe them money and will not release my transcripts. BAD BAD SCHOOL DO NOT GO TO CAPELLA UNIVERSITY!!!
As a matter of fact, I have received my Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in Finance program at Capella University. Capella University is one path that leads to many destinations. Capella coursework has helped me to understand the mechanics of leadership, become more resourceful, creative, and solution-oriented person for my family; and my community. On the balance, so much has changed in the second half of my life.
I feel anyone should re-think taking the Flex Path Program. I work full-time Project Manager and had completed all 3 my assessments and the last one I was in progress and I had gotten really ill was unable to submit by the deadline date. So, therefore, they withdraw me from the school. I felt all this was unfair. I had turned in all my assignments with a Proficient score.
Being a parent and a full time employee, Capella made going to school manageable. The courses added to my skill set which make me marketable and competitive. What I have walked away with is an understanding that even in the midst of what life brings, I am capable.
I started at Capella in July of 2011, transferred from Devry - BEST decision I made during my college career. Mid-January of 2016 I started in the FlexPath Program - OUTSTANDING!! I finished 6 courses in 10 months!! FlexPath is the perfect way to get your degree if you have a busy personal and work schedule. I was able to move my assessment dates up or back depending on what was happening in my life. It really fit MY schedule. No discussions, no deadlines. I worked at my own pace and loved it!! The tutors and professors were GREAT at answering questions and my adviser was amazing! She knew exactly what I needed to get the most out of my education dollars. I also have huge respect for the financial team at Capella - during my years with Capella, when finances were tough for me, they were understanding and flexible. THANK YOU!! I am #CapellaProud.
