Student & Graduate Reviews
Regretful but soon to graduate - 1/5/2015
Graduation Year: 2016
"I am currently enrolled at Capella. It has taken me 4+ years and I will graduate in March of 2016 with a Bachelors in Bus. Mgmt. I only take 2 classes a year as that is what my employer pays for. Is Capella convenient? Yes it is? Was it worth all of the stress... meh. People say that you get out what you put in and that is very true. I've worked very hard and currently hold a 4.0. I guess my biggest issue is that I feel as though the professors don't care. I keep saying to my husband that I'd love to be a prof at Capella because their job is SO easy. The benefit to Capella and it's classes is that your itinerary (syllabus) is laid out exactly as the prof expects it. They can just go in and check-check-check and boom there's my 4.0. Yes, I'm getting really good grades because it's a program that's easy to follow but I do not feel that I'm actually retaining a lot of the information learned. I've kept all my books so that I can go back and refresh. When it's all said and done, I'll have my Bachelors but as someone else said, companies frown on Capella. I'd say they frown on online education period. therefore, once I have that diploma in hand, I'm going to make an attempt to my local University to transfer as many credits as possible and get a degree with them. I'm essentially going to mask my degree from Capella with a real degree from a reputable school. So, that is my honest reflection, it's the truth, I'm not going to sugarcoat it or cover it up. I'm not trying to talk anyone into or out of attending there but looking back, I wish I'd chosen a brick & mortar university. ."

"The school offers excellent tools to assist with time management, tutoring, writing, specific links etc. It is a good idea to use all of the resources provided as they carry no additional cost to the student and are very helpful. The professors are knowledgeable and reasonable. There were times when I was called out of town on a special project for work and had to ask my professors for extensions; they were very understanding. I took advantage of the BS/MBA program. It allowed me to use four MBA courses for my BS at the undergrad cost. I have now graduated with my BS and have four courses towards my MBA. The counselors are very helpful when planning your courses and helping you decide what type of program will work best with your learning style. I was able to take advantage of some Sophia courses that were self-paced and will be taking advantage of their new Flex program for my MBA. The university has a lot of options; learn what they are before you decide what will work best for you personally."

"I've been attending Capella since 2010, and am 1 year away from completing my BS in Business. It hasn't been easy, be prepared to work hard to get good grades, but the instructors and advisers have been great to me every step of the way. Because of my work schedule and travel, this program has worked perfectly for me."

"I received a BSBA from Capella 12/2013. I started at Capella after taking engineering and business / accounting courses at 3 different Universities. The major benefit with Capella was that if I moved, which occurred frequently with work, I was not required to take additional courses at a new school due to minimum credit requirements for graduation. I transferred in credits from the other 3 schools and dispute moving twice was able to stay with 1 school through graduation. I retired at 40 not needing a degree to succeed in my field and decided to go back to school just for the heck of it. I enjoyed the classes because the level of discussion on some topics was that of skilled professionals instead of 20 year olds with no life or business experience. This school offered classes on par or better than those I attended at both private and public schools. As far as technology, the site was easy to navigate and worked fine with both Chrome and IE. I would recommend researching any program you plan to enter but in general Capella was an excellent experience for me."

"I enjoyed my experience at Capella. I am in my final quarter. The only thing I am skeptical about is how will my degree be viewed by employers. Now that I am focusing more on my career search, I am scared. I currently do not have a job. I was a stay at home mom and decided to pursue a degree online. I will recieve my BS in Business Administration from Capella. Because I dont have a job already, Im just worried how this will be percieved on my resume by employers. The school is very expensive, so if you want to go out a cheaper route, research other schools, I only began my course work here because a freind spoke so highly of Capella. I would not recommend this school financialy, but you will get a good education if you apply yourself. Thats the realist review you will get, trust me!!!"
