Horrible school. I was kicked out of classes due to their websites lack of functionality. After 5 calls to tech support, the issue was not resolved, and I am no longer admitted to my class this semester. No one would work with me to resolve the issue. The people are unprofessional across the board.

I have never experienced such negligence from another university. I know reviews can always be hit or miss, but I highly suggest not attending this school; especially if you require financial aid to pay for your tuition. I also want to note that the counseling program is very generic. Everything is set up by the school so that each student is following the same path per the requirements of CACREP. I felt like I was not being challenged and it has turned me off completely from counseling. I transferred to another university and changed my major. Good luck.

Capella University has it all. Highly skilled professors, academic advisors, online technology and provides an online library with endless peer reviews scholarly journals, reports and publications. Peer collaboration is enough to give one the classroom feel without the time constraints of traveling miles to meet at inflexible times. Support is available all throughout the learning experience and while it is a lot of hard work, I wouldnt trade this experience for any other college.

Degree: Mental Health Counseling/Counselor
Graduation Year: 2018

I enjoyed my time with Capella University from the years 2012-2018. I obtained my bachelor degree in psychology and then entered into their master program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I was introduced to this field after my brother lived with me for six months. He had to attend an alternative school after being discharged from a psychiatric hospital. I feel in love with the field psychology and mental health disorders. Individuals who attend Capella have to work hard because the program is for people who genuinely want to learn. The coursework is fast paced, integrative, comprehensive, and rewarding. The counseling programs has their students attend residency twice during the program to make sure the student is competent in the field of counseling. There is no quick fix or no doing the homework without consequences. Most of the professors and the university are easy to work with; especially, when personal life interferes with deadlines. Individuals need to be proactive and notify the professors a head of time. I graduated with a 4.00GPA and on the president's list because I was dedicated in every semester. I was organized with binders, printed out each unit week, filed all homework on my computers, read every assignment, did every homework assignment, and worked full-time occasionally throughout the Capella journey. About 98% of my classmates obtained employment from their field sites or found new careers. However, this student was in the small percentage that did obtained a job after graduation. My professional opinion is due to not working in the professional field during my internship and that have little experience in the field of counseling. Most employers want somebody who has a degree and two years experience in the field. I do not regret my decision to attend an online education because I was a later adult who decide to attend college. I should not be punished because I did not follow the tradition route of ground schooling. I was a very busy mom and employee during the last six years while obtaining my degree. I will keep looking for employment in hopes the right door will open.

I love Capella and often recommend it because it didn't require me to take time away from things such as work and getting married like my undergraduate degree did. I was actually able to start gaining experience in the field WHILE working on my degree! It also allowed me to work so I didn't have to choose between work and school. It was flexible enough that I could easily work my schedule and home life around what I needed and still complete my work! I thought it was very easy to use and that you get offered choices of where you want to graduate and complete your practicum. It was great and if I do go back, I will use Capella again because either had a great experience!

Overall Capella University has been an excellent school. The faculty, advising team, and fellow students are amazing people with diverse experiences and backgrounds. It is a challenging curriculum that has prepared me well for the real world of counseling. My absolute favorite experience in this program are the Residencies. During Residency you have the opportunity to work with amazing people and really learn from one another. The bond you form is lifelong! I would recommend Capella University!

I'm enjoying Capella. You get out of it what you put into it. I've had some great instructors and I've had some that were basically ghosts who didn't do anything. You review your professors every term. The good professors get a good review, the bad ones get a bad review. I have not heard great things about flex path, but I am taking two classes per term and so far have a 4.0 GPA and am almost half way done with my program. I probably invest 5 hours per week into my school on a normal week, which is pretty minimal but if you're efficient, it's not hard to get by and still do good work. On a week where I have an additional assignment to complete along with just discussion posts, I will put in about 15 hours that week. You do have to be a disciplined person and self-motivated as well as organized to do well in this program. It is 100% up to you to make it happen. I think the advising department at Capella is excellent. I always get someone on the phone the same day I put out a call and the advisors are extremely knowledgable and personable. I've been pleased with Capella so far. I don't regret it at all.

My journey began attending another online University that had no respect for me as an individual after suffering a severe shoulder injury. I never had any family or academic support which, lead me to Capella University. The first day I began I have had nothing but support and worked really hard towards my academics which, earned to be on the Presidents List, invitation to be a Chi-Sigma Iota as well as becoming an Ambassador. My experience has been so supportive as well as positive throughout my journey with Capella. The instructors are awesome as well as supportive providing guidance even through are most challenging times of our lives. Now, that I only have a one quarter left I am encourage to pursue my PhD in clinical counseling with Capella University with a goal to develop an Ambassador program that represents Capella University.

After attending UCLA for undergrad and another D1 university for grad school, I have been highly disappointed in Capella. From Prof. Lange - at my first residency being intoxicated and cussing in public to financial aid mixing up my account causing huge problems, I can honestly tell you to choose ANY other school. Shoddy program at best! 100%'s given out like candy on assignments to make the students enroll in their honor society - a complete scam of a university! Do NOT waste your time and money!!!
