Classes were boring and poorly run. My last teacher messed up my grade from an A to an F because she neglected to grade and and all of my discussion's and peer reviews. I'm in the process of transferring out and now delayed because of her neglect. I can't apply for a scholarship because this teacher's neglect lowered my 4.0 GPA standing. I don't see how this can happen. Thank goodness I have proof of my work but so angry that my transfer and starting my new school has been delayed on such a stupid... Read More

I was unsure of a school that was all online. After talking to three different schools Capella seemed to be the best choice. Then I started my program. I am in my second year and I love it. Capella has so many resources to help you do your best. I have recomended Capella to many people and my best friend has started taking classes with Capells. It has given her a purpose and a furture to look to.

I loved the program, but the for profit part is an issue. I'm so far in debt I will never see the end before I die. It's a shame because I would have liked to have gone on for certificates, another master's or a PhD. As far as the education, there were a few holes but over all I feel I was well prepared.

Capella is a corporate machine who will take your money without any recourse. I would caution anyone choosing to go here. They are very hands off because they are so large and are for profit. You are not a student they care or work with but a means to make money. I received my Master in Marriage and Family Therapy through them and paid over $90k in fees and they have recently sent me to collection for a $900 class I did not formally withdraw from. I have tried to work with them for the past month... Read More

From the very beginning of my career at Capella University, the advisors were knowledgeable, resourceful, and provided information of programs that would be useful in my future professional goals. Each professor has made themselves available to assist with any questions or concerns as well as provide several opportunities to enhance growth in the rigorous assignments that are required in classes. Each quarter students are able to look in advance to see when things are due which gives an opportunity... Read More

The MFT program at Capella has been amazing. The interaction between students and faculty/staff is truly what you make it to be. You can be as involved and interactive as your schedule permits. That being said the 2 Residencies that Capella requires are fabulous. You meet person to person for the first time and work on theories and practices with each other for an intense, but fulfilling, learning and nearly unexplainable to someone who has not yet experienced it. The course work all builds on top... Read More

This was the first time that I had on-line courses. I am a young 70 years of age and found the program and instructors to be very well versed in their field. I enjoyed the courses and have learned a lot. I am putting on hold the last of my courses only due to school loans are more than I feel comfortable with. I hope to conclude my degree in the near future.

This program is intense. It will take a lot from you in order to finish. Before you start, take some time for yourself. Create your own study process that will work on a daily basis. Take a vacation, save some money, and create a self-care plan. The program is designed to prepare you for becoming a person that will care for other people in an intense manner. There are courses in ethics, culture and diversity, theories, and socialization. Be prepared. You will have to travel on 2 occasions for what... Read More

Capella University's MFT/C program emphasizes on the systemic theories within the field of marriage and family therapy. Students complete a variety of work, including reading and searching articles, writing and participating in class discussions, completing APA formatted essays, and attending two residencies that expand counseling skills and knowledge further (Track 1 typically focuses on joining and attending skills; Track 2 involves co-facilitating a group session as well as facilitating a mock... The marriage and Family Counseling Therapy Program is a great program. It covers many aspects of mental health issues that plague our society. The program focuses on issues surrounding families as a unit. Although individual therapy is covered in the curriculum, its focus is healing the individual through family involvement. The MFCT program is similar to the coursework covered in tradional schools. However I would suggest studying hard and researching various books and videos to further your professional... Read More

After separating from the Air Force, I did not know what I was going to do with an undergrad in Social Psychology. When I found Capella, it answered all of those questions. The degree I earned set me up for success as clinical director of a community based behavioral health company and a clinical supervisor. I am proud to say some of my supervisors are Capella students!

Going to a college online is a real challenge. It requires so much more of the student than the traditional college or university. The programs are pretty awesome and make sure that you know what you are talking about when you get that degree. The professors in the Masters program are experts or veterans in the field. My program, every professor is a counselor with at least 15 years experience. Some of them are still practicing in their field, but they take the time to help you. The students at Capella... The biggest compliment to the school is the orientation that I was required to complete before beginning my first class. Most professors have been great and informative, but a few have been lazy and did not really offer any instruction. The instructions for some papers need to be more clear. If a class offers supplemental instruction, take advantage of this because it was so helpful even after that class. There is a lot of reading required and you will do well to review assignments and post before... Read More

I found my years at Capella to be both challenging but informative. I enjoy the online platform, because I feel that you truly get a change to research ideas and therapeutic techniques in such a way were you're making an informed decision on which type of therapeutic technique you prefer to use. I found an academic advisor that I trusted, however, the financial aid office is another thing. They are not helpful in assisting you in making financial choices. However, the professors are great, however... Read More

This is my first time attending an educational institution that has been exclusively online. I have enjoyed my experience at Capella thus far and would highly recommend it to students who are seeking an online degree. So far I have not had any negative experiences to speak of; the academic advisors I have had so far have been very helpful and relay valuable sources of information when requested, the professors respond to emails in a timely fashion, and the coursework has not been difficult to follow.... This is my first time attending an educational institution as a online learner and I can say it has continuously been a positive and rewarding experience. The professors and academic staff are great! The coursework has it's challenges but that is expected for a higher level degree. I am looking forward to finishing my degree at Capella! :-)

One of the requirements to complete the marriage and family therapy/counseling program is to complete both a practicum and internship. I am very frustrated and unsatisfied with the services and assistance that I have received whenever I have reached out to the university for help. If you reach out to them for help they will just tell you to look at the resources on the websites. This is my second masters degree, my first from an online institution. The rigor is high, but professors are generally supportive. Sure, I had some dud professors, but my department chair was eager to help. Additionally, when I contacted academic advisement, they were happy to help with future registration. College is not for everyone, and if you cannot handle the work, Capella is not a diploma mill. The work is difficult but you can learn a great deal if you choose. You can also burn through your...
