Chamberlain College of Nursing Reviews - Nursing Masters
Review of Nursing Masters Degrees
Excellent program excellent library resources .. I have attended other online programs and this is by far the best . I feel like this school will prepare me for my upcoming career. Teachers are wonderful and give good feedback! Best online experience yet!
It is a great school. I have found it to be much more organized then the private school where I received my ADN. It requires a lot of hard work. Having the ability to self study is important in an online program. Instructors and staff are all profession, friendly, and helpful.
I received my BSN in 2010 from CCN-St.Louis and decided to return in 2016 for my FNP. My decision to return was based on the positive experiences during the BSN program. The MSN is a bit different as I didn't have the option of going to classes on campus but I will say CCN has given me the necessary tools to still be successful in my journey of seek a graduate degree. You get out what you put into an online education and you have to be prepared to take accountability for your progression and advancement to becoming a knowledgeable APRN. I wish we had more assistance finding preceptors but that seems to be the general consensus for NP students in most programs.
The case studies really help to grasp what goes on in the real world, applying the new knowledge being taught. With the focus on case study discussions instead of cramming for exams , it's helping me learn in a whole new way. The professors are professional and the help desk is helpful! The courses are accelerated, so be ready!
There were some inconsistencies with requirements along the way, but overall it was a great program and I felt very well prepared for certification and practice. The clinical courses did a great job of implementing case studies that were applicable to practice, and the capstone board review course was fantastic!
Do not attend this school! Worse mistake I ever did was start this program. You basically teach yourself while they take your money. Teachers do not offer feedback and there are no tests or quizzes so you basically are doing case studies that require looking up evidence based articles that take up time you could use for real studying! Finding a clinical site is up to as well as doing the practium coordinators job, too much time doing the school's job while they over charge you for a sub par education. CCN actually allows people who cheat to stay in the program, I know first hand! I sent an email to an instructor and the dean because I saw a student copied an article word for word in a discussion post and nothing was done. That student is still in my class! This is the type of student representing this school! So wish I had left and transferee but no other school would accept my credits and I was already in the clinical portion of the program. Run from CCN!
Love this program and I continue to learn and grow everyday. The case study model provides a continuous learning experience and great interaction with other students and the instructors. This program is challenging but worth the challenge and has greatly prepared me for my practicum experience. I already have a job offer before graduation.
I have 3 more classes to go and I must say I am learning tons of information. Although generally a new program, I feel that Chamberlain is giving us what we need to be entry level FNPs. They are frequently making changes that reflect on the feedback of the students. We currently have a certification class that was being given in our final course but that have changed. Now we are getting access to those q bank questions earlier which allows us to be better prepared. We have heard back from students who have graduated and they have passed boards and function as an FNP and many have stated they felt that CCN prepared them. It's an online school so you get what you put forward. Lots of studying on your own time and you have to have self driven. I loved Immersion weekend in assessment! We got the opportunity to get hands on learnung on assessing patients prior to clinicals and met life long friends in the process. The most frustrating part of the program is findind preceptors but this is an issue with most programs. Start looking a year in advance as they fill up quickly. Most importantly remember to give back and become a preceptor when you are a practicing NP.
WARNING: I 100% regret the decision to go to this school. Go to a school that finds preceptors for you. The beginning of the program is good but dealing with the "practicum coordinators" is a complete joke. The teachers show absolutely no interest in the welfare of students. The dean shows complete disrespect for students concerns. He does not return emails or phone calls. I will NEVER recommend this school to anyone. Go to a school that finds preceptors for you!
I am currently enrolled in the FNP MSN program at Chamberlain College of Nursing. I am looking for a school that will accept my courses for transfer (not too hopeful). I am unable to find a practicum experience and The support staff at for this is non-existent. I agree with another review here about this program and support. I did my RN-BSN at CCN and recommended it to many people. I graduated in 2010. I can say the support here has gone downhill. Student Services gets dumped on. My practicum coordinator is nonexistent. I requested a phone call. Got an email telling me to read the handbook for most of my answers which I had read it. I am just totally fed up. I don't have much hope of finishing my degree.
