"The Education Department at The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, provides a student with small teacher/student ratios, and interaction with staff and students on a continuous basis. The school recently became the Department of Education at the school and received a large influx of money from the Zucker Foundation. They provide intensive interaction with students in STEM, teaching strategies, leadership, counseling, and literacy. The school is rated very high in the local Charleston area with many teachers as graduates of their graduate college. The Citadel also puts together annual seminars and conferences on education for local educators. The Dean of the School of Education, Dr Larry Daniel, has been a very positive force in making the school a pro active learning environment for the local community. A very positive school to attend and to get a degree at."

"The Citadel Graduate College is a wonderful place to attend school for my postgraduate degree. I enrolled in 2013, and will complete my degree in the upcoming fall semester. Since being enrolled I have had the best professors that go above and beyond to accommodate students, who are also working full-time jobs. This program is designed for anyone who would like to continue his or her career in the field of education. I have met other students, with whom I continue contact with after their graduation. I would definitely recommend The Citadel Graduate College!"

"The Citadel is an extremely difficult institution to attend, however this institution is second to none when it comes to preparing the future leaders of America how to properly lead. Granted you have to substitute Thirsty Thursdays with mandatory study hall, however in return you will be leagues ahead of your peers from other university. The constant drilling of discipline and integrity will help sculpt you into an individual that one day you will be able to look into the mirror and be proud of. The professors are second to none and try to accommodate for the rigors that the institute naturally have. With it being a small college you typically become close with your professors and they know you on a first name basis and are genuinely concerned about you. Last but not least the bond you build with your classmates, you can not find anywhere else. The classmates you make there will be the people in your wedding and lifetime friends."

"The campus is a small and enclosed military university so there is no need to transportation while on campus. The faculty and staff are amazing and helpful! Great school with great networking connections."

"The Citadel is an amazing institution. The professors are awesome and many have been and remain active participants in their fields. I know the business and english departments very well and have been impressed by the majority of my professors. One of my business teachers owns her own business and incorporates much of that into her lectures, However, all of my professors go above and beyond to help when asked. I have received invaluable resume help, internship recommendations, and an immense amount of leadership advice. The classes are generally no more than twenty or so, depending on your major. I have had a class as big as thirty and as small as nine. These numbers only further the professor's ability to assist their students. This school prides itself on "the development of principled leaders". This may sound cliche but it really does do this. This school is what you make of it. If you do not intend to work hard and do not consider yourself up for one of the most challenging experiences physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, then do not apply. But if you are looking for an experience that will help to grow and mold you into the potential that you may be aware you have, and even further into the potential you never knew existed, then this is the institution for you. Also, if you are interested in the military but unsure of which branch, The Citadel is the perfect place to explore those options. All branches are represented and you do not have to commit to the military unless you decide to, but commissioning can be made available to you should you desire it. This powerful place brought out in me a confidence that I never could have found anywhere else. It has also brought me in contact with friends that I will be remain in touch with all my life. Other colleges may offer a substantial networking opportunity but no one stands by it like The Citadel. The mentors that I have and the relationships I have developed only add to my love of the affect the school has had on me. Of those that apply, most fear the first year, knob year. However, do not, you will be fine. I have had the pleasure to be a part of the leadership this year and have witnessed the change in training. The professionalism being taught and the leadership advice is truly enlightening. Trust me, if I can do it, so can you. I am just a scrony, 100 pound, little girl and I survived. Yes, I chose the road less traveled and can now seen the light at the end of the tunnel. This fall I will receive my ring and in the spring become a member of the long grey line. I will never regret my choice to come to The Citadel and am looking forward to entering the world with the sound foundation of moral and leadership training it has provided. To you who are reading this, thank you for listening, and good luck on the decisions that are at your feet. Trust yourself and, here's the key, listen to yourself, because only you know where you want to go, who you want to become. This school helped me to discover my love of art, ironically, and Charleston provided the perfect playground for me to explore that interest. Whatever your choice, let the school you go to work its magic on you and develop you into a better person, one that people will respect, listen to, trust, and even follow. Again, good luck, and thank you for listening."

"I entered the graduate program after I joined the Army. I entered into the biology program and after my first class, I knew I had chosen the right school. I work full-time but in the biology field so the professors were able to work with me as a colleague and a student. My adviser for my master's thesis was awesome and not-to-serious. He wanted me to have fun but to also be serious about my research. I focused on avian ecology with community response to seasonal and successional stages of abandoned rice fields on the Cooper River, South Carolina. It was a really intense research project that has helped me in my career as a biologist. I learned a lot more at the Citadel than I think I could have at a major university because the classes were smaller but full of relevant information. I didn't have to take those filler classes where they weren't used to further my career. I also used my GI Bill and Federal Tuition Assistance and the admin staff there is awesome. Anytime I had problems, they knew exactly what I needed to do. I earned a lot of commendations, awards, and scholarships because of my research thanks to the program."

"The School Psychology program offers a variety of in-field experience and supplemental in-class knowledge in order for me to become successful in my field in the future. I would claim that the cons of the program would be the number of hours necessary to receive the degree, however, that is always over looked when I acknowledge how much I am learning and don't notice the amount of hours dedicated to the program. I am glad I chose The Citadel as my institution to receive my master's in school psychology."

"My graduate program is a fairly new one at the college, so there's not much information available other than the information for the general M.A. in Social Science program. With that being said, because it is a new program, I feel that this gives students in this program the opportunity to help mold it into an interesting and rewarding program of study for students that choose this path in the future. Although The Citadel's graduate programs are generally excluded from the military-based education of the undergraduate students, I would love to see the atmosphere change a bit. Possibly offering a satellite campus to welcome the "civilian environment" would be interesting to see. Overall, I do enjoy the college and I am pleased so far with the education I'm receiving."

"While I cannot think of any true 'cons' at this point, I enjoy the fact that my graduate program encourages community involvement, the professors do all that they can to ensure their students succeed, and my instruction is first rate. I truly believe and feel that the psychology program at the Citadel is both preparing me for my future career as a Licensed Counselor and/or School Psychologist, as well as helping me to see areas of my life I need to improve or enhance."

"The Citadel is a strong graduate program in South Carolina. Their are great connections to be made and a strong brotherhood among alumni. The education is superior and the professor seem t have a deeper knowledge of their subjects. I am thoroughly impressed with this program. the only con is that the area is very experience to live in and the Citadel is located in the heart of Charleston. Otherwise, i am glad I picked this program."
