"I had the honor of attending the online university, Columbia Southern University on and off from 2009 - 2015. I earned my Associate of Arts in 2010 in General Studies; and my Bachelor of Science in 2015 in Business of Science. The Pros: The university served to be very flexible for me. Flexibility was important because during those years I serve in Navy active duty in country (Norfolk, Virginia - at times in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean). And overseas/out of country (Setting in the middle of Baghdad, Iraq in a hut). There was no limit to the support I received from counselors and professors. The classes were web-based. The interaction with fellow classmates was very great/solid. The school is very military friendly. Military friend school are familiar with educational rights and benefits for Veterans. The Post 9/11 Government Issued (GI) Bill. For those that aren't familiar. The Post-9/11 GI Bill can pay for veterans full tuition and fees at school, provide for veterans with a monthly housing allowance while veterans are going to school. And generally veterans get up to $1000 a year to use for books and supplies. The Cons:. At the time of my last few classes I notice the class per unit were more expensive then others. Online Experience: The online experience was great for me but if you're someone who needs to be "pushed" or have no self-motivation, you will fail. Accredited status: the university is NA (Nationally Accredited) and not recognize as RA (Regionally Accredited). So the prestige isn't there like a University of Memphis, University of North Carolina, Duke, The Ohio State University."

"I had a great experience with CSU. I read a lot of negative reviews and all of them have one thing in common, they all graduated with a Degree from Columbia Southern University. I think if the school was so bad why not go somewhere else? No matter, my adviser was very helpful, my professors gave meaningful feedback."

"I went to CSU for a little over two years. I entered it with an Associate's degree and finished with my Bachelor's in Business Administration. Please disregard the review (especially the lengthy ones that go on and on...you know what they say - you can tell a liar when they try to give too much information). My only "gripe" with my experience at CSU was during my last year my academic advisor was changed twice on me. Granted I did not require their help much, but I did not like the switching of advisors. Overall I found the professors to be knowledgable and willing to help. The feedback I received on assignments, projects, and essays was professional and on point. I graduated cum laude in May of 2018 and three months later got a job working for my city in their HR department."

"I completed my MBA at CSU and then decided to continue with the DBA program. The MBA was of value, but the DBA is not. I found that the set courses were fairly straightforward to get through, however the support and expertise at the dissertation stage was abysmal. Extremely poor feedback and I came away with the view that the professors are purely academics with no real world business experience. They have no idea about the real issues facing modern business, and instead look to slow one's progress as much as possible to keep you repeating courses - which of course you have to pay a new fee each time. I showed my work to experts outside of CSU and they were astonished at the obvious lack of business sense by the professors. You may think that the course is cost effective, but you haven't taken into account the multiple times they will make you repeat the dissertation phase courses. At that point you are so invested in finishing (80% through) that you won't stop paying. I paid well over 10k more than they advertised. Don't do the DBA."

"I went here for two years and earned my BS in Business with a focus in Human Resource Management. Anyone who says the classes are easy...is lying. You have to earn your grades. Anyone who says your credits aren't transferable...hasnt done their homework. I found the professors to be engaging and informative. Whrn I got really sick and was hospitalized...I was allowed to extend my classes by 30 days which helpwd immensely. Compared to many online colleges...CSU is one of the best in my opinion."

"The school has been great over the years I have attend this school for the last four years. Lately though this school has started to hire teacher that are very unqualified for the classes they teach. I'm taking a class right now the instructor is a teacher that has no business teaching what so ever. There is no way you can pass the course with the syllabus you are given. The question you are asked isn't what he's asking for. You respond with what the book shows and cite it and he still fails you on the assignment. States you should look it up some where else and cite that. This will be my last class at the school. I'll transfer to AMU. I have never taken a class like this in my life. There is no right answer to any of the questions. I call the school talk to them and they give me excuses and tell me some instructors are strict. People I'm military I understand strict but theirs got to be a correct answer to something coming out of a textbook. Keep in mind this is Unit Assessments from a textbook that he's asking to answer not essay papers. All I can do is shake my head on this one. Never failed a course but this one is going t be close and kill my GPA. They say just drop the class then I have to pay back 750 dollars to the military. This school has lost touch with reality of online classes."

"I decided to wait until graduating to post a review, so I could share my entire experience. I graduated in 2017 with my bachelors in business administration. I loved CSU for many reasons! CSU was one of the most affordable online schools. I qualified for a Pell grant through financial aid, which paid for almost my entire schooling every term. The only things I really had to pay for out of pocket were my proctored final exams which were about $20/piece. The school, the instructors, and the staff were all very helpful along the way. This university is very organized. Classes are all in 8 week terms if you use financial aid. I love the flexibility of being able to get online anytime I want to finish my work. Weekly assignments typically consisted of a classroom community forum where a topic would be posted and you would be expected to discuss it. The second part of the assignment would usually be either a 2-5 page paper or a PowerPoint presentation. To prepare someone who may be thinking about attending CSU you HAVE to be knowledgeable in how to write essays. I had to write essays almost every week in every class. If you are a student who does not like to write or does not know APA style I would advise you to either learn it or pick another school. CSU is VERY essay heavy. You will have to learn how to manage your time to finish the research for those essays and the writings on time! But overall I would highly recommend CSU to anyone looking to advance themselves. It is a college that provides a great education at an even better price! And, yes, after finishing my degree I was able to find a job in the healthcare field in a bachelors preferred position."

"I have been a student with CSU for 7 years now. Earned my CCAF and now in my last class for my BA in Business Management and Administration. I highly recommend CSU to Active Duty Military members. They are incredibly receptive to short notice taskers. The Online Life Paced option works best for me. Its an 8 week course in a 10 week period. You can turn in assignments early or late with no penalty."

"I loved this school and really think it's the most affordable online degree program. Yes it requires a lot of writing and extensive research on most assignments but most of the instructors are lenient and understanding. They will work with you if you really want to achieve a good grade. In my opinion it's a great school to earn your degree and it's very doable with my busy full time job."

"Please stay away from this school. It is a complete waste of time and money. It takes over 3 weeks for instructors to get back to you. A complete lack of professionalism. I have to file several complaints just to get a response from instructor. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY."
