DeVry University Reviews
Student & Graduate Reviews (281)
I looked at a lot of different schools and programs before choosing Devry. I found that they really had their online classes down to a science and addressed multiple learning styles. The classes are challenging with Professors with both academic and real life work experience. I work fulltime and travel for my job. The flexibility they offer allows me to learn and interact from any where.
This school is everything I would want in a University. The staff is helpful, encouraging and go above and beyond. The online courses are easy to navigate. The professors are always willing to help and are quick to respond. The curriculum is geared toward ensuring the student learns everything there is to learn about the subjects they are taking.
I am at present going to DeVry University on the web. In case you're a non-conventional understudy who needs to come back to class, however you can't make sense of how to make it around a full time showing and a full time life, I firmly urge you to go to DeVry Online. It's extraordinarily non-customary cordial. There are a tremendous scope of courses in pretty much every subject. I've taken everything from post-1945 History to Professional Writing and the sky is the limit from there. These classes are equipped to work with non-traditional so we can get the instruction we need the life that we need. I additionally energize any individual who is self propelled and/or necessities to work while going to class to look at DeVry. You'll see it to be exceptionally adaptable with work routines and a family life. Teachers obviously run the array as they do in any establishment, yet the greater part of the Professors I have been sufficiently blessed to have were staggering. Exceptionally spurred and put resources into their understudy's prosperity. Being online was no prevention to contact with a Professor in the event that I required help. Both Academic Advising and Student Finance divisions have been outstanding when I have called. I call no less than each 8-12 weeks to set up classes ahead of time, and they generally work with me to guarantee that I get what I need and adjust it appropriately with money related guide so I don't get an excessive amount of or too little. I truly put stock in DeVry University as a foundation that is turning into a solid pioneer in instruction for all individuals. Make certain to add it to your rundown of universities to go to!
Devry student services was very helpful. The classes and professors are always willing to assist. The IT department was well knowledgeable and helped me reset my laptop. I got my associates degree in 2015 and I returned for my bachelor in 2016. The school atmosphere is also very professional.
I attended DeVry 2001-2002, the year they became accredited as a university (Institute of Technology to University). They offered a one year B.S degree in IT for students who already had obtained a bachelors degree of any major. I graduated and earned a B.S in Information Technology, but the program included no professional certifications and the courses did not train for what employers were looking for. This was their biggest selling point on this program. While I was still in the program, the career services team would tell us they would ALWAYS be there to provide their services after graduation, however immediately upon graduation, they would not respond to phone calls, emails or would just be unwilling to provide the service they claimed they would provide. I paid $20K to them for a useless diploma. They canceled this degree program shorty after I graduated also.
So far the program has exceeded expectation. I'm being challenged and am making great strides in pursuit of my degree. I recommend DeVry constantly to co-workers and friends. It's definitely helping me get where I want to be, in the time I want to be there.
The faculty is amazing. They worked with me and kept in contact with me for 4 years because I was struggling with my financials to get into college. I wasn't able to financial start college until I was considered independent. The faculty was a great support. Even now, after I am on my 5th class, they still check up on me. The support is amazing. DeVry University really cares about their students. I would recommend DeVry University to anyone who wants to further their education.
I attended DeVry from March 2013 and just finished out my degree program in February. I wanted to share my experiences with those who are looking into attending DeVry. I have noticed that there are several controversial reviews out there regarding DeVry. Some state that the college is overpriced, the professors do not help, and if employers see that you attended DeVry they immediately throw your resume into the trash. I want to clarify some of these things. 1. Tuition - Yes, DeVry is VERY expensive if you are having to pay out of pocket or even get student loans. Each 4 credit class costs about $3500. If you cannot afford it or if you are not a veteran using your GI Bill, then find a community college that is within your price range. I used my GI Bill to pay for DeVry which they covered all 3 years of it. 2. Professors - I attended two different campuses due to a move. One in Federal Way, WA and finished out here in the Irving, TX campus. The professors you get really depends on the location. Most of the professors I encountered were very helpful and cared alot about their students. Some even went beyond the typical class outline to make sure we had a solid understanding of the material. I did encounter a couple of professors that were absolutely terrible and would not recommend them to anyone. BUT keep in mind, this can happen in ANY college you go to. Not ALL of the professors are terrible. It's luck of the draw. If you are not happy with them, then take it to the dean. It's as simple as that. 3. Employers - The statement that employers see that you have attended or graduated from DeVry will immediately trash your resume is not entirely true. Majority of employers care more about the fact that you completed a degree to prove you are a motivated individual. While it may be true that there are SOME employers that care about where you attend, it is a case by case basis. I have landed two jobs while attending DeVry with no problem. They could care less about the name of the university that I am attending or got my degree from. They cared more about what I have learned and if I have the drive to continue learning in my career field. DeVry IS a fast paced college. The sole purpose is to get your education so you can land a job quickly. They offer free tutoring, free software, free eBooks ($10 if you want a printed paperback copy). If you are used to a fast pace, then you will have no issue with DeVry. Their programs are designed to help you get a job and also provide hands on labs if that's what you choose. Classes are about 8 weeks each session so there is a lot to learn in little time. If you can handle it, go for it. If not, then DeVry isn't for you. All of these reviews floating around are all self opinions and majority are those who need to vent because of a bad experience. Don't let bad reviews turn you down completely. As with anything, take it with a grain of salt and remember not everyone has the same experience with DeVry.
I finish my Associates this session and start my Multi Media Web Development Bachelors degree right after. The coaches and financial services are top notch they know how to keep you going so you can succeed in your studies and degree. I had two hospital stays for foot surgeries. My Coaches and Professors modified my schedule so I could get caught up. Failure is not an option. In the beginning I was out of school for a long while, the resources that DeVry uses online got me up to speed in the first session. Coming from a school environment of little to no computers this online learning is the way to go. Your libraries are as close as your PC and you do not have to come out of your PJ's if you don't want to. I put a lot of hours in and had a few all nighters while researching and learning Web code but in the end the projects were successful and the code techniques stuck to be used on other projects. It's a great time to be in to learn and find your passion in life and with the knowledge you gain be able to do something great with it. All of my Professors are in the Web industry and know how to teach lessons learned about work flow processes. You get real world techniques and experience from the learning process. Hope you consider Derry we have the best teachers. You can also take classes on campus which gives a more personable approach and also uses a blend of online learning and labs.
The Health Information Technology program has helped me build on the skills I possess and discover new ones. I feel as if I am ready for the HIM field, and I have the knowledge to understand the needs of potential employers. I am marketable because of DeVry University!
