Everest College Reviews - Associate in Criminal Justice - CLOSED
Review of Criminal Justice Associate Degrees
I am so glad that I made a choice to drop out of this place, considering all the stuff I've heard in the news about shutting down campuses and students trapped in student loans. I had inherited a little money from a life insurance policy from a parent passing away, so I decided to use it to go back to school and I researched majors and schools and chose Criminal Justice and Everest, after watching their commercials. They did try to sucker me into financial aid, but as mentioned earlier I already had financial resources so I didn't apply for financial aid or student loans and paid out of pocket. After a few weeks, I had noticed some of the same tricks that this school was up to that other students complained about prior to campuses being shut down so I decided to pursue my education elsewhere and dropped out. When I dropped out I was told I wasn't allowed to come back. LOL! Good, cause I didn't want to go back, the whole point of dropping out HELLO! I was also told I couldn't transfer my credits which was fine considering it was the first quarter. I am now attending a different school in which I am about to graduate with my Associates Degree in two more months and my school's career services is already breaking their backs to help me find a job. I have already been on a few interviews and I am excited and hopeful. Now I heard that Corinthian Colleges had closed a lot of their campuses, leaving students unable to transfer credits, trapped in student loans, and without a degree/diploma. My heart breaks for those students and I pray that their situations will work out, will still be able to pursue the careers they have chosen, get their loans forgiven and these schools and their company will reap what they sow. This makes me glad that I got out of there before I ended up in the same situation these students are in or have been in. I think my mistakes I made when I chose Everest before was that I didn't do enough research about accreditation and student reviews and I just listened to my television, chose a career all because it sounded good, and picked the first school that appealed to me. I was also still very young, 20 to be exact, so I hadn't really had much of a grasp on what reality and the real world is really like and I never understood that a school can stab you in the back and screw you out of money and a career that you want. So my advice to people here is really do your homework on schools and majors, don't take the commercials word for what they promise nor believe every word an admissions adviser tells you, do your research on what your state requires to obtain any licenses or certifications that your field requires, and what a lot of employers want when it comes to what kind of degree you have and what school it is from before choosing a school and/or career field and stay away from this school.
Everest College shouldn't be considered as a college. You cannot move forward with your degree because most of the credits "earned" aren't accredited. Most of the "professors" I had weren't knowledgeable in the field to which they were teaching. Also, you might as well go to an actual, accredited UNIVERSITY because the amount of money you pay to go to the school at Everest for two years is the same amount you would pay to go to a 4 year University.
Instructors are good however financial aid is horrible. I have been here for 2 semesters and for both they placed a hold on my account even after submitting correct paperwork it took roughly 60 days for anyone to do anything. I will not recommend this school to you keep searching for a better school and also read in papers its a ponzi scheme as well and they were selling off but wasnt notified at the time of enrollment but the school failed to tell me this as well. very sneaky and very very unprofessional! and just a fair warning there is a campus in my state but they decided to put me in a campus on the other side of the country. When they send stipend checks out it takes almost a month to get from them to you as they dont use tracking numbers or direct deposit of any sort. they put the check in regular mail and ship it off its non sense!!!!
Such a waste of time...go get the same degree for 1/10 of the cost at a junior college! Don't make the same mistakes I did! Prospective employers and graduate universities laugh at this degree!
Ok so I honestly have just started this program but I found the people nice and helpfull...yes kinda annoying when you are not interested (like me in 2012) but I have 7 month twin daughters and I work full time so to be able to go back to college and I know it sounds like the tv ads but to work around my busy schedule is a blessing and honestly even if the degree isn't a huge step at least I'm back in college and that's what's important right now for me and my family
I can't get my books because I owe $36... I went and sold last semesters book at a store across town for way under cost just to get $35 for them... so I could make a payment... then I go back to my school & they wont take cash. I dont fuck with bank so I dont have checks or a debit card. That's the only forms of payment they accept. So I began calling around & couldn't find no one to help me. So I asked administrators to help & got nothing. One even put me off onto someone else like he didn't give s fuck. And of course that person couldn't help me either. Its fucked up when someone is trying to better themselves its like everything else trust to knock you down. Once your enrolled the school could care less about u...
