This school is a fraud. After you complete your nursing courses, they make you wait approximately 16 months to take a clinical exam ( CPNE). This exam after you take it 3 times has a pass rate of 63%. Do not waist your money. They do not explicitly tell you the information on their website.

I enjoyed my one year of studying for ADN program. The courses were difficult at first but after the second module it was much easier. I failed the CPNE and i passed the second time around. Today I am very proud that I didn't give up. My best friend and I started the same day. I finished within one year and it took her two years at a local college. Please keep up the good work.

MY EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT. I WAS AN LPN WORKING IN A HOSPITAL. TO GAIN EXPERIENCE I WOULD WORK DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE HOSPITAL. OB. PEDS. PSYCH. MEDICAL SURGICAL AND ORTHOPEDICS.. THIS PROGRAM IS NOT FOR SOMEONE WITHOUT ACCESS TO HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE. THE INSTRUCTORS WERE VERY HELPFUL.I PASSED THE CLINICAL EXAM MY FIRST ATTEMPT.AT THE TIME OF MY GRADUATION THE SCHOOL NAME WAS UNIV.OF NEW YORK REGENTS. I WORKED FULL TIME AND AM VERY THANKFUL FOR THIS PROGRAM. THE ADVISORS WERE VERY HELPFUL. I CONTINUE... Read More

I am very pleased with my experience with Excelsior College. I first used Excelsior to go from LPN to ASN. I was so satisfied that when I was ready to pursue my BSN, I returned to Excelsior. The program is difficult, but any online self directed program requires self discipline and determination. I enjoyed my experience at the weekend clinical exam. Yes, it has a very low pass rate. I knew that going in and did my research. I was well prepared, and did not have any difficulty. Dont do this program... Read More

This college DOES let you know that wait times for CPNE are estimates. They could use more testing locations. This is a self study/paced program. This type of program isn't for every type of student. The CPNE could use modification. The college offers 1 day hands on seminar, but the cost is high in my opinion, and almost always requires travel and accommodation costs on top of that. I would recommend the college offer 3-day skills prep days, at the cost of the 1 day, on a quarterly. Overall, the... Read More

"Passing" is equivalent to "winning" lottery ticket. It has already been determined whether you will win a degree before you go to the "clinical". Whether you "pass" is determined by your ability to sell the College Network and Excelsior College to other people who believe you can "win" a degree. All clinical nursing programs leading to employment require clinical experience which is not a characteristic of Excelsior College. Also, most RN employers require a positive recommendation from a clinical... Read More

Worst school experience ever! From no clinical instruction to no help with preparing for the clinical exam (yes, one needs to seek outside help, and it is a HUGE 3 day exam besides, which costs over $2,000 each time attempted!) plus all the lies in addition to this, don't do it...Colossal waste of time, energy, and money!!

Run. Do not stop and pass go with this school. Please do your research. Their nursing program has a horrible pass rate. This college continues to lie on their website about their pass rates. Their are over 80 students presently during this school. I am one of them. The CPNE passed have only started to happen since october of 2018. You can also see this on their website. They do not tell you that their pass rate prior to October was like 30%... this is horrible. I spent over 30,000 and numerous years... Read More

I should have graduated in 2016. Unfortunately this school enjoys failing nurses during their final clinical experience so they can make more money when you are forced to pay $2,400 + travel expenses to repeat the test. This things they fail you for are a complete joke! Pulses and blood pressures are 2 examples that they use often. They will say they got a different reading than you and then you fail that individual experience. My recommendation would be to go to a "real" school, you will actually... Read More

My review is based upon my personal experience with this so-called college. Regarding their LPN to RN or Paramedic to RN programs..... Excelsior College does not provide RN students with the necessary tools or support to successfully graduate. Excelsior has been recruiting students for many years with less than accurate facts being posted on their website for the statistics on important issues such as, number of students who actually graduate vs those who enrolled. Also the number of students who... Read More

In the beginning is not like Genesis for God seperated light & dark, truth & lies.Ex-LYCR does not know truth from lies! Mandatory CPNE, FCCA classes & fact that we pay for them, hidden in the dark.EX-LYCR's mission is to fail YOU & take YOUR monies!

Enrolled at the encouragement of staff, disappointed by same. Complete waste of time, money, sanity. Lesson learned. On to a brick-and-mortar program where obtaining the degree is guaranteed...regardless of how many times it takes to correct minute mistakes that aren't an indicator of how you will function as a higher-level nurse. No degree, no opportunity, just a lousy paper and encouragement to drop another few grand to play their game. No thanks.

I passed the final nursing requirement called the CPNE but the nurse administering this 3 day exam disagreed and failed me! This college took a lot of my money and time. I do not recommend nursing students attending here. Students fail and the school profits!

I loved it!! As a nurse working full time it was great to be able to complete my RN degree at my own pace. I see a lot of people bashing it, its not a bad school. You have to be motivated and willing to put forth the effort required to be successful. The CPNE is definitely the worst part but doable!! I passed on my first attempt and was also successful on my NCLEX with one attempt. It is a bit pricey but definitely a great option for full time working nurses!!

I attended this program because I was active military. It was definitely self paced and the final exam was very hard and stressful but it could be done. I was offered scholarships when eligible which helped me a great deal throughout my program. There was not much interaction with instructors except for the final two day resident exam. What I loved about this program was the flexibility and self paced. What I did not like about this program is the minimal contact with nursing professors.

Great stream lined experience. It saved me time, travel, and money. I had 2 school aged children and 1 in middle school. Worked FT in hospice. I had many years as LPN. I passed with flying colors. Aced several exams, others passed with C. My grade was alway directly proportional to amount of work I invested. I would only recommend this to LPNs with at least 5 years experience. If u are a new LPN do not attempt it. I was used to State surveyors and JACHO surveyors so the CPNE did not scare me much.... Read More

I am so grateful for the opportunity Excelsior has given me to earn my RN degree! I tested out of all my nursing courses and learned so much from self-studying. I passed all my nursing exams on the first try and moved along the program smoothly and quickly. The CPNE was the most challenging thing I ever had to prepare for, but it prepares you to work as an RN using best nursing practice. To prepare, I strictly referred to the study guide and attended Excelsior Colleges workshop and did the online... Read More

If you going to school for your ADN, this is not the school for you. You will waist many years and money to take your CPNE. When you finally get a chance to take your CPNE, its such a negative, nerve racking experience, you wish you never put yourself in this situation. Its to late at this point, no one will accept your credits and you have waisted years and money. Take the time and invest in a local nursing school for your degree. I would never recommend the nursing program. The other programs they... Read More

I earned both a ASN and a Bachelor of Science at Excelsior. My success was determined largely by two factors. I was very motivated and willing to work hard for my degree. The second factor was that Excelsior always was clear on what was expected of me. Granted, I was one of those that passed the CPNE on the first try. I almost failed, but as I was waiting for my professor, I realized an error I made, and corrected it. It is a very hard test. I practiced for it relentlessly. It did make me a better... Read More
