"Absolutely horrible Biology program. Many classes where most or half the class was failing, professors lacked any empathy about it, and could not teach. Teachers assistants who run labs act like you are dirt and mark off any chance they can. No one responds to emails. If you have a life emergency and have to withdrawal under exceptional circumstances, they will deny you and make you jump through loops going to every department head per class to explain. If you transfer, they will forget to register you as in state and they will also leave you with nothing left for classes because current students will have already picked fall classes. Everything about this school is horrendous and inexcusable. I have nothing but regret for choosing this school over FIU."

"I truly enjoyed my undergraduate experience at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Over the years, I found more and more opportunities that FAU offers to students. For example, there are many teaching opportunities for undergraduates who perform well in certain classes such as Biology or Chemistry. Many of these are paid positions for students looking to work on campus. FAU has a great Student Government (SG) as well. I had the privilege to work as a student employee with FAU's SG for over two years. I was able to make incredible connections and it allows you to make an impact on campus. For those who want to pursue research, most of the science faculty members are actively doing research and have undergraduate students working in their labs. A great way to get involved in a lab is to do well in courses and discuss your research interests with them during office hours. FAU also has multiple research programs. I was involved in the Honors Research Program within the Biology dept as an undergraduate. The program allowed me to do research for over a year with a great mentor. Most of the faculty at FAU are really incredible and want you to succeed. I would highly recommend FAU to someone who is looking to pursue a degree in science."

"Undergraduate was amazing and an interesting. FAU had amazing professor and classes that allowed me to learn so much about science. Professors were there to challenge me and help me learn. I was able to be challenged by exams and earn my first C. By earning my first C, college taught me that even if you try hard you may not succeed. You are not the only one struggling and you are not the only who has ever received a C. College was a challenge, mentally and physically but it was worth the ride."

"I highly recommend Florida Atlantic University to anyone who is wants to pursue a degree in biology. The counselors are very helpful and really care about the students success. The athletic programs are great here though and it's fun to go to all of the games, football, basketball, lacrosse, etc. With the science department, you'll get a TA that doesn't speak English well about 1/4th of the time but the professors all know what they are talking about and for the most part teach well (there's always a few bad ones no matter where you go). The TA's and professors try their best to help out the students, especially if you personally ask. I don't regret coming here because it's cheap for me (in-state, presidential scholarship) and I'm learning a lot academically. The social life was never a huge part to me because I still have made a few good friends and don't go to lots of parties anyways. I would recommend anyone considering FAU to give it a good chance and possibly visit as any kind of person could succeed and have a good time here."

"I was a double major in Biology and English at FAU, and graduated within 4 years with both degrees. While undergraduate advisors are seemingly helpful, FAU offers a wide variety of student success services. Being a double-major, I spent considerable time at FAUs Writing Center and Math-Learning-Center. My teachers varied in their educational style, and all of my biology labs were fun and hands-on. Some of my labs took field trips to the Florida Keys, the Everglades, and the Indian River Lagoon. Being marine focused, I was lucky enough to attend FAUs Semester-by-the-Sea (marine-science based course load). All of FAUs campuses are beautiful, and the locations are amazing. I would recommend this school to students who are self-motivated and independent."

"If you are out of state and 100% establish residency good luck getting it! I spent 5 years fighting with them to get it they are cons! On top of that if you have loan refunds to receive... You guessed it good luck! If you want to get railed every year this is 100% the school for you! Professors couldn't care less about you either! I asked a professor for a letter of recommendation they said they would glady do one for me... guess who spent a year blowing up their email and never got a letter! I highly highly recommend you dont send your kid or if you are a student don't go here! I guarantee you will regret it! The quality of education here is worse than anything I have ever seen! Oh ya good luck trying to understand your professors by the way 90% of them barely speak English as if the material wasn't hard enough as it is... If you do go here pray to whatever higher power you believe in that you have a student teacher because that is the only time you will actually learn something."

"The College of Science at Florida Atlantic University has a great biological sciences program. I believe that it is one of the best here in south Florida, and not because I graduated from this school but it is because I have met students from other colleges that studied under the same major but they have not been exposed to amount of material as I have. Florida Atlantic University's program offers biological classes from many different subfields like microbiology, marine botany, plant physiology, anatomy and physiology, molecular genetics of again, biology of cancer, medical bacteriology, immunology, and so many more classes are offered. I had an interest in biological bases of behavior and comparative animal behavior and I took those classes as electives and its so wonderful to be able to get exposed to all these different fields because when you are an undergraduate you do not really know what you want to do, but this programs exposes you to just about everything so that you can know where your passion lies."

"FAU was my college for two degrees, and the experiences of each degree were similar. The teachers varied in their educational style, some better than others. The advising offices were lacking, but overall assisted me in gaining acceptance into a graduate program elsewhere. The campus is beautiful, and the location is amazing. I would recommend this school to students who are self-motivated. Those who are good at researching and implementing solutions by themselves will succeed."

"The school it self is very nice with immaculate facilities and exceptional teachers, however, there is a vast disconnect between advising offices when a student like me is getting a minor unrelated to my major while also being a part of the University's Honors program. In total, I had 10 advisers over the course of my 4 years at FAU, and I didn't even transfer from a different school. I never had the same adviser twice, and none of them know how to help me."

"Florida Atlantic University was a wonderful school. I feel that although not all of the professors in the school were perfect, majority were aimed at helping us to succeed and achieving our goals. The degree I received required very rigorous courses, but overall helped me to better prepare for the future."

"I attended Florida Atlantic University from 2011-2016 and during that time I gained a very supportive network of friends. Some of whom I even consider family. When I speak to anyone who is considering attending FAU, I tell them that the greatest experience FAU has to offer is its extracurricular activities. There is nearly an organization for everyone. Once I decided to join an organization, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, my college experience truly began. I cannot say that that would have occured at another university. FAU also as an incredibly diverse campus that aides you in getting a wider understanding of the world and all of its cultures. I loved my time at FAU and I advise everyone who asks me that attending FAU will be a phenomenal experience."

"Florida Atlantic University was a wonderful university to attend. I am about to start my Master's in Biomedical Science at FAU and I am so excited to be an Owl again! The professors, advisors, and students at FAU made such a difference on my life and I couldn't imagine having attended another university. The Neuroscience and Behavior program was rigorous, challenging, and insightful. I have heard such amazing things about the College of Medicine and I am so lucky to have been accepted into the program to earn my MS degree."

"Studying at the Wilkes Honors College at FAU provided me with many resources as well as the required mentorship needed for me to reach my career goals. I was able to finish my thesis in under four years and explore other interests throughout my undergraduate career due to the flexibility of my coursework. Although I was a biochemistry major, I worked with my mathematics professor, and wrote my 50-page thesis combining my knowledge of human biology and linear algebra. In addition, I had full access to all the amenities at Florida Atlantic University's campus in Boca Raton and commuted to perform in the Symphony Orchestra. The small campus allowed me to get to know my professors and eventually work with teachers on various projects. Therefore, I never felt as if I was just another face in the crowd. This close-knit community allowed me to delve into my interests and be active in both the arts and sciences."

"Florida Atlantic University is an amazing university located in Boca Raton, FL. I enrolled at FAU three years ago with a plan to major in Biological Sciences. Throughout my time as a premed student, I have gained a vast array of knowledge in many subjects that I believe will help me excel in graduate school. The professors at FAU are stellar and they are always happy to help each individual student. FAU has a beautiful campus with all the amenities you could ask for. They have a huge food court, a brand new gym, and a great student union. As far as safety is concerned, you will never feel unsafe at FAU. The library is one of the best parts of the University. Aside from the enormous collection of books, it offers study rooms and even multiple computer labs. Sports wise FAU is also great; they just built a brand new football stadium and they offer more sports than I can count. To sum up, FAU is really a wonderful university and I am excited to continue my education here as I move on to graduate school."

"Good school with engaged professors. Excellent Semester by the Sea program for marine biology. Tuition differential for out of state students is pretty ridiculous ($770 vs $174), but you can't study sharks in Iowa, sooo.....Housing is great...also expensive, but very modern, safe and full of "Florida" amenities: sand volleyball courts on front lawns, outdoor swimming pools at several dorms. A great distraction when too much studying is required. Overall, I'd recommend FAU."

"Entering the honors college for the first time felt like coming home. The professors were extremely intelligent with the ability to teach students and the kindness to help them along in their college career. The small campus led for long-lasting memories with close friends and great opportunities for both fun and your future. I love the HC!"
