"I enrolled in Florida Atlantic University's Advanced Standing Master of Social Work Program earlier this year after graduating from FAU in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Social Work. I have one more semester before obtaining an MSW degree. Since I am planning to work in the substance abuse field, I am interning at a local treatment center. The clinical experience I am getting is incredible. I facilitate group sessions, counsel clients, write treatment plans, progress notes and much more. While FAU's MSW program is preparing me for clinical social work, I believe the university's BSW program prepared me for generalist practice. From my experience over the last two and a half years, FAU has an excellent program. The faculty genuinely cares, and professors are willing to help students who want to succeed. If you work hard and genuinely want to learn, you will have a great experience. I would highly recommend FAU to anyone who wants to become a social worker. Since FAU is a state school, tuition is reasonable and won't set you back as a private school will, plus I believe you will get a better education at FAU."

"The Masters of Social Work program at Florida Atlantic University is an excellent program that provides different opportunities to learn how to be the best social worker one can be. The program is a clinic based one that focuses on real world experiences and at least 800 hours of field experience. The university also allows one to take the classes part-time or full-time, which is perfect if people are currently working in the social work field. I would recommend Florida Atlantic University to anyone looking to obtain their MSW but would like to learn things that actual relate to your future career."

"Florida Atlantic University is not only located in a beautiful area but it provides students with the tools necessary to succeed in the real world upon graduating. The professors are welcoming and understanding that students have occasional struggles and are willing to work with you, which makes them approachable. Th course load for the MSW program is interesting and thought provoking, and for a student who didn't get their BSW in Social Work I feel I will be well prepared to enter the field upon graduation."

"I completed both my BSW and my MSW from Florida Atlantic University. All of the staff have been in the field of social work or are currently in the field. The professors are highly knowledgeable and have worked with a variety of populations. I would highly recommend this program to any student that wants to enter into the profession of social work."

"I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Social Work. I will begin FAU's Advanced Standing MSW program in May. I believe FAU's BSW program prepared me for generalist practice in the world of Social Work. Since I would like to work as a substance abuse counselor, I am now pursuing a Master's degree. From my experience over the last year and a half, FAU has a top notch program. The faculty is fantastic and genuinely cares. They are very willing to help and want students to succeed. There will always be a few who don't want to do the work and complain about everything, but if you work hard and genuinely want to learn, you will have a great experience. I believe the curriculum will give students what they need for generalist practice. Besides having excellent professors, my advisors were also very helpful in making sure I was taking the right courses to graduate on time. The field placement my last semester was challenging and gave me valuable hands-on case management experience. Every effort is made to find students field placements that are a good fit. I would highly recommend FAU to anyone who wants to become a social worker. One of my former professors is now heading up the department. She has a tremendous amount of energy and is working hard to push the school to the next level. Since FAU is a state school, tuition is reasonable and won't set you back like a private school, plus I believe you will get a better education at FAU."

"I am currently a graduate student at Florida Atlantic University, and I am going into my second year of my program. As an undergraduate student I also attended this wonderful university. It is located in the Sunshine State of Florida, where the weather and the blue skies on campus never disappoint. This institution is warm and welcoming. FAU has opened doors for my future that I could have never imagined. It has given me a career that will help me to assist individuals through counseling. The School of Social Work has educated me on what it means to be a social worker. The curriculum that I have been exposed to has pushed me to be better as a student in my critical thinking and how I approach the world. The professors at FAU genuinely care about students' success as a whole. Overall, FAU is a great place to not only obtain an education, but it also a great place to progress and learn as an individual."

"Florida Atlantic University is a wonderful school with so much diversity. The social work program that I am a part of has aided me in becoming the best social worker I believe I can be. The professors genuinely care about your learning and your well being, and the internship programs that the school of social work puts you through really helps jump-start your future as a social worker. I wouldn't have traded my education for any other university. I am excited to learn more in my masters program!"

"Pros: -Super clinically focused to prepare you to become an LCSW - I was worried that I wouldn't get a ton of micro (one-on-one) counseling education, and that it was going to be exclusively systems and macro focused, which is one of the reasons I considered an MHC instead... but I'm super glad I went in this direction instead because the degree is much more broadly applicable, typically favored in hospital and treatment settings, and billable to more insurance providers including Medicare -Professors are enthusiastic, intelligent, dedicated, and have good experience in their field, so they have me super excited about the semester -Internship is incorporated into the course curriculum, so you're getting tons of experience and get to apply your clinical skills as you learn them, while it's fresh, rather than way afterward. -Admissions team is super available and responsive, and responded to a million of my emails Cons -rigidity of course plan (you can only take 2 classes if you're part time, or 5 if you're full time with a 16 hr/wk internship), so you're either 1000% committed to going back or it's going to take you forever -Wish they would have had more trauma-focused internship opportunities! VA and Women in Distress were the only options in my area"

"The Programs entice you to provide feedback and build a support network with the professors. It is my first year at FAU, and I love it. It is a lot of paper writing, but hard work. They make it challenging but feasible."

"I absolutely love the graduate program of Social Work at FAU. The program is encompassing all aspects of social work. We will have the opportunity to work with nursing students in a side by side project, this will help us out in the real world because of the complexity in workers we will deal with. This program really combines all aspects that need to prepare a student to become a Social Worker."

"The Florida Atlantic University program for Social Work was amazing. I was able to learn not only my specialized field but other career options that I could pursue. The teachers are always helpful and the administrators for the program are available whenever you may need them. I loved my experience as an undergrad and I can not wait to begin this summer as a graduate student! I did not experience any cons while enrolled in my BSW at FAU."
