"Florida Atlantic University has sn owesome graduate program. I had the privilege of completing my MBA December 2010 and currently in the process of completing my Ph. D. In Ed Leadership. Faculty and staff is accessible to your need around the clock. They embrace diversity which is important to me as a non traditional student. I love the program which makes success my number one priority. I would highly recommend the graduate program to students seeking a program that will stimulate and embrace your dreams."

"I am fortunate to get this excellent opportunity to do my PhD at FAU. I am getting excellent lab and supervision here. The financial support is not great for the PhD students. The cost of leaving is very high at Boca Raton and we are not getting fellowship according to the standard of living. Also we need to take some extra course works which might not be useful for the thesis."

"Overall the biological sciences department is growing and getting better each year. My biggest issue with completing all of the requirements for the Masters Thesis program is that my research adviser and laboratory is located at the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Fort Pierce, FL, but I had to teach and take classes at the Boca Raton campus. No public transportation is provided for students commuting between campuses, so I had to spend a lot of money from my own pocket to pay for gas, and book hotels when I need to stay up north and complete lab work. This is very difficult for a graduate student to afford. Rent in Boca Raton is incredibly expensive as well. I pay $700/month and that is the cheapest option I could find. My Teaching Assistant position pays $900/month, so I had to work a second job on top of teaching, taking a full credit load of coursework, and commuting to Fort Pierce to do research. My work week is anywhere from 60-70 hours, depending on coursework. Hectic and exhausting, but I managed!!"

"FAU has a very competitive cost for the MBA program. They have a very attentive staff dedicated to the MBA students. We have access to our own facilities. The enrollment process is very easy."

"Our program is one of the best in the US. I am definitely proud to be a student at FAU. The faculty are very knowledgeable and helpful and this place is definitely a good choice for graduate students. The area is extremely gorgeous and refreshing and there are a lot to do in the area. The only disadvantage is high rents, which makes sense considering the great location and weather, and would not be a big issue when sharing an apartment."

"I like that I have access to medical school faculty to ask advice for my future medical school applications and I like the kinds of research projects that are taking place. The financial aid is also great, especially with the tuition reimbursement you can get for being a TA. On the other hand the program is undergoing a transition (for the better), so during my time here, I have experienced some administrative problems. Overall, I think it is worth the money."

"Pros: -Super clinically focused to prepare you to become an LCSW - I was worried that I wouldn't get a ton of micro (one-on-one) counseling education, and that it was going to be exclusively systems and macro focused, which is one of the reasons I considered an MHC instead... but I'm super glad I went in this direction instead because the degree is much more broadly applicable, typically favored in hospital and treatment settings, and billable to more insurance providers including Medicare -Professors are enthusiastic, intelligent, dedicated, and have good experience in their field, so they have me super excited about the semester -Internship is incorporated into the course curriculum, so you're getting tons of experience and get to apply your clinical skills as you learn them, while it's fresh, rather than way afterward. -Admissions team is super available and responsive, and responded to a million of my emails Cons -rigidity of course plan (you can only take 2 classes if you're part time, or 5 if you're full time with a 16 hr/wk internship), so you're either 1000% committed to going back or it's going to take you forever -Wish they would have had more trauma-focused internship opportunities! VA and Women in Distress were the only options in my area"

"The Programs entice you to provide feedback and build a support network with the professors. It is my first year at FAU, and I love it. It is a lot of paper writing, but hard work. They make it challenging but feasible."

"Entering the honors college for the first time felt like coming home. The professors were extremely intelligent with the ability to teach students and the kindness to help them along in their college career. The small campus led for long-lasting memories with close friends and great opportunities for both fun and your future. I love the HC!"

"As a transfer student I received no assistance with advising upon starting at this university. No one was willing to meet up with me. I declared my major as pre-nursing and was finally able to set up an appointment with a nursing advisor. She gave me the wrong information. Pre-reqs for nursing school include Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2. Over the summer, there were slots open for A&P 2 (but no courses offered in A&P 1 until the fall). She informed me that students must take A&P 1 first, followed by A&P 2 - I did not sign up for A&P over the summer, based on this information. My application for nursing school had to be put off an entire year, because both A&P 1 & 2 need to be completed before January. I was later informed that A&P 1 is not required to take A&P 2. After applying to the nursing program, I was placed on the wait list. A few days later, I received an acceptance letter from Assistant Dean of the School of Nursing! "Congratulations! Upon recommendation of the Admission and Progression Sub-Committee, I am pleased to inform you of your preliminary acceptance into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program (Traditional track) at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, Florida Atlantic University." My family and I were ecstatic. I'm a model student with an exceptional GPA & a volunteer at the local hospital, so we all felt the acceptance was well-earned. The extended family was notified and it was one of the happiest moments of my life. The following day, I received this email: "I must aoplogize for any miscommunication that has went out regarding an update in the background check. The email sent out was sent to everyone in reference to code changes, unfortunately the email stated you had been "preliminary accepted" into the program. To avoid further confusion, you are still on the wait list. Again I apologize for any miscommunication on our behalf." An email from one of the office assistants, the "miscommunication" apparently wasn't deserving of a letter from the assistant dean. I was devastated. I tried repeatedly to get an appointment with the assistant dean to discuss with her what happened. She finally agreed to meet with me, but then cancelled later that day; in essence telling me that she does not meet with wait-listed students. There are far "too many" students applying to FAU and that's her policy. I'm been a devoted student at FAU since 2010 (also working full-time to help put myself through school). I also tutor Biology (& a bevy of other science courses), assisting students with passing difficult science courses. The staff's treatment of students is truly heartbreaking. & for a nursing school that prides itself on "kindness" and compassion. I've received nothing but callousness and indifference. You are just a # at FAU and as long as they have your money, that's all that matters."

"Florida Atlantic University (FAU) is a very good school for all graduate students, regardless of disciplines, races, nationalities. The program is really fantastic. Students do have many opportunities to build up the career like grant writing competitions, research presentations, travel grants, and many more. Professors are very flexible and devoted towards student goal. FAU has all-time-going research discussions, colloquiums, workshops etc. This is the only university in the world, which are working with two leading research institutes like Max Plank, and Scripps. I would like to recommend everyone to consider FAU for their graduate and undergraduate studies."

"The Integrative Biology Ph.D. program at FAU boasts small class sizes. For the most part, professors are easily accessible and willing to help outside of the classroom. In comparison to my previous graduate program at Nova Southeastern University, FAU has higher academic standards. Overall I am pleased with my decision to attend FAU for my Ph. D."

"FAU is an interesting place. It has a lot of resources but it's not very organized. The professors are generally very nice and supportive. It's a great place if you know what you want and you're willing to put in the work to get make it happen."
