Degree: Information Technology
Graduation Year: 2016
"Receiving a degree in Information Technology has been a good decision. Yet, this degree alone has not been enough to secure gainful employment. It has acted as a "support" to other education, such as an MBA or a Doctorate. Reason is that many IT companies require at least working knowledge in programming or databases. An IT degree is more geared from management rather than computer science. A more marketable skill would have been in computer science or computer engineering. Yet a student needs to have at least some knowledge or interest in programming, computers, math or engineering in order to be accepted into and succeeding in the computer science field. Computer science is a more difficult program of study than Information systems. Yet the potential to securing gainful employment and making twice as much in income would be worth the time and effort for a student majoring in computer science, programming or databases. An IT degree would be a good compliment to another masters degree such as an MBA or Management."

"Florida Atlantic University was a wonderful school. I feel that although not all of the professors in the school were perfect, majority were aimed at helping us to succeed and achieving our goals. The degree I received required very rigorous courses, but overall helped me to better prepare for the future."

"FAU is an amazing school, with so many available resources for students to succeed. The main goal of the professors and fellow classmates is success not only in the present but in the future. A lot of students commute to school so parking is the most difficult part of the day sometimes. Classrooms are fairly large until you get to your upper division classes, but teachers are always available for one on one support."

"FAU is a well rounded institution. With the course work provided I believe I was fully prepared to enter the real world. FAU had a pretty open door policy. Instructors and administrators were always available to answer any concerns. They also walked with you every step of the way. I was recently accepted to their Masters program, and couldn't be happier to be going back to my Alma Mater."

Degree: Accounting
Graduation Year: 2009
"I completed my undergraduate studies in Accounting at Florida Atlantic University and loved it so much when I thought about returning to do my Masters degree 8 years later I knew I would it with FAU. The teachers are very knowledgeable with their subjects and there is a diversity of the students attending. They encourage group projects and networking with other students and constantly post career opportunities. After I completed my bachelor degree with FAU, I received a 5% raise with my company and soon thereafter was able to get a promotion due to my experience and my education."

"Florida Atlantic University's initials have often been expanded to "Find Another University." But as an alumni, I am certain those words come from outsiders or students who chose not to immerse themselves. Whereas my first two years were spent mindlessly moving through the motions of undergrad, I watched a teacher move a classroom, of almost 100, to tears; I saw peaceful protests and freedom of speech expressed in the courtyard weekly; I had professors who took me aside and asked for better from me, because they saw potential; I was inspired. It only got better once I entered major specific classes. That's when education took on a whole new meaning. I was lucky enough to be taught by more than 6 published political scientist. Each with an expertise and a charisma which made me never want to graduate. Where Florida Atlantic University may lack in name and status, they make up for in established, passionate, and credible leaders and professors. My advice for incoming students is to not let those undergrad prerequisite requirements steal your passion. Make the best of them by participating in class, getting to know your incredible instructors, and advisors, and asking them about their passions. It was those prerequisite instructors and advisors who guided me through those four years; out of a empathetic pursuit of education, and into a passionate obsession with knowledge; out of academic rut, and onto Deans' List; into the outstanding and incomparable Diplomacy Program, where FAU has been a recipient of 25 national and international awards; and into a community of like-minded and well rounded friends and mentors."

"I attended Florida Atlantic University from 2011-2016 and during that time I gained a very supportive network of friends. Some of whom I even consider family. When I speak to anyone who is considering attending FAU, I tell them that the greatest experience FAU has to offer is its extracurricular activities. There is nearly an organization for everyone. Once I decided to join an organization, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, my college experience truly began. I cannot say that that would have occured at another university. FAU also as an incredibly diverse campus that aides you in getting a wider understanding of the world and all of its cultures. I loved my time at FAU and I advise everyone who asks me that attending FAU will be a phenomenal experience."

Degree: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2017
"Florida Atlantic University's Bachelor's of Social Work program is excellent; I learned so much and gained a ton of experience. The teachers are there to assist you and they genuinely care about wanting you to succeed. Their passion for their craft and their profession really shows through their teaching. All faculty members make themselves available to you (I would make use of that). I was able to intern through this program which was a requirement for graduation that I loved; it almost forces you to use the skills you have learned throughout the program in the real world and it was a great eye opening experience. I graduated with months of experience at an agency and also a certificate in Child Welfare. I enjoyed the school so much that I decided to go back for my Masters Degree. I am currently in the MSW program at FAU, which I must say we are ranked number 2 in the country. Studying at FAU has been a pleasure and I cannot think of a better place to assist me with furthering my education."
