Fair warning to anyone who is considering attending this school: it WILL stress you out dealing with their faculty more than any class you will take. They are unorganized and extremely unhelpful. Be weary of contacting them via the phone because they have conflicting information. I asked a representative over the phone about Financial Aid as it was my first time with the dilemma of dropping a class and putting me under "part-time" student status. Over the phone the man told me it would NOT affect my current loan in anyway. Several months later I received a notice stating that a portion of my Loan had been retracted. When I went to the campus to discuss that, they informed me that it was likely due to not being considered a "part-time" student before the semester ended. I told them of the discussion I had on the phone and the woman told me "you don't want to call in for concerns like that, we outsource the phone operators and they don't give accurate information." And you shouldn't call in anyways because I've called in the morning (9-10am) in the afternoon (12-3) and in the evening (4-5) on several different occasions and each time I've had to wait 30-45 minutes. Why would you outsource at a college? Why would you not provide sufficient training? Not only that but they claim to cater to the working class, busy parents, people who can't attend full time or have odd hours of availability, but they do not staff at appropriate times. Don't go during the hours between 12 and 2 because they only have 1, maybe 2 advisers and only 3 people operating the desk. These 3 are there to help route out the "easy" questions that require more generalized answers or the more common issues. That's fine but even they don't have any particular care and give less than optimal information. They are slow, taking SEVERAL (between 5-10) minutes after ending a discussion with a customer to call up the next one in line. Their portals are also consistently plagued with inconsistencies and difficult operating hurdles. I've had to call about twice each semester to have them adjust my program path when trying to select classes. Not to mention after I spent 2 semesters away a few years back, I returned and was told that I needed to reapply for school. This is all good and well, I understand that completely. However, after 3 semesters of taking courses, I spoke with a REAL adviser who informed me that after I had spent 3 semesters out of pocket, I had been started on the WRONG program path. I was supposed to be started on the original program path I had started the first time I attended FSCJ. Overall, this school is atrocious when it comes to navigating through your courses and earning a degree.

This college has the worst organization in an admissions office that I've experienced. What school can't received a transcript and just process it? Their staff also will not answer your emails or help you with your questions. Avoid and go to a good school who wants to help students.

If you have already graduated or taken classes at another college do not come here. They will mess up your transfer credits like it is their job. Then once you talk to them they will blame it either you or the computer. This school is fine out of high school but do not transfer.

Degree: Office Management and Supervision
Graduation Year: 2014

I studied supervision and management at Florida State College of Jacksonville. The accelerated 8 to 12 weeks program was online. What I like most about the programs was that it was conducive to my work schedule and I can study at my own pace. The assignment and lessons were interactive.

If you search any site with FSCJ you will see a plethora of negative comments. Its an institution that makes it difficult to believe they sincerely care about the students. There was an article released this year that speaks about the 10% loss of students but its no shock. FSCJ makes the schooling process way difficult breezes other local colleges. Financial aid is the WORST, many students struggle cause they wait weeks into the semester to see any financial aid that is the cost of books, etc. How can a student be successful if they dont have the funds promised to continue education. Its the reason so many are leaving. No one wants to do poorly in a course because the institution has consistently dropped the ball.

I agree with a lot of the comments on here about the arduous process of admission to FSCJ. I took the PERT, and had my transcripts from another college sent in. It took many days for the college to get me setup, then it wouldn't let me register for Summer (it was June 2018). That ended up being my fault, because I enrolled for Fall 2018 when I did my application. I spoke to multiple counselors, until I found one, who really worked with me. She checked into my application, reached back out to me when she said she would and really helped. I hadn't been in college for 17 years, so the entire process was daunting to me. But ultimately told me, "If the system isn't up for you by Thursday, I will manually enroll you myself as your advisor for Summer C." That to me is a great example of issue resolution. While I had a miserable experience at first at FSCJ with enrollment, this one advisor turned it all around for me.

Review for FSCJ...this is the worst school I have ever been to. Ive been assigned to 3 different advisors and none of them will email you back in a timely matter. I emailed my advisor on a Saturday just knowing Monday or Tuesday she would respond back to me. I had to send an email to the advising department to get her to respond. Then she emails me back with an attitude like Im wasting her time. It should not take 7 days to respond just as quickly as she responded after reaching out to her supervisor she could have responded to me period. They have one phone line for ever damn thing which is absurd!!!! I will be trying to find another school after this semester.

Very poor financial aid department and uncaring representatives. Horrible back & forth, problem after problem. Pass the buck tactics.Wasted time and keeps honest, hard working people trying to get out of a hole from moving forward by utilizing a lesser paying school as opposed to the burden of high debt with a private institution.

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2020

This school is awful from it's customer service to information it puts out. It seems like they have ONE phone tree for anything and everything you need. You wait on hold for absurd amounts of time (30 minutes to almost an hour). No one seems to know any answers to your questions and always pawn you off on another person or department. I originally began my admissions in June 2017, I couldn't start until spring 2018 because they lost my application, never processed my transcripts, and never bothered to email me. I would call every day and no one could assist with my lost transcripts. They were mysteriously found in a "folder" where transcripts can't be matched to students who applied for admission after I threatened to file a complaint with the Department of Education. Fast forward to applying for the nursing program and I can't! Their admission applications are insane and so limited in options. I can't roll in person since I am out of state until the fall, so every form of help has been limited to phone or email. FSCJ IS THE WORST SCHOOL TO GO. SAVE YOUR TIME, ENERGY, AND MONEY!!!! Poorest customer service, rude counselors, and inept phone system.

Financial Aid is hands down, HORRIBLE!!! Customer Service skills in that department is HORRIBLE!!! Dropped classes, no communication, no explanations. Inconsistent answers, consistent problems.... Ms. G. could use customer service training, less condescending, & keep in mind, humility is a virtue. Very unprofessional staff downtown, FSCJ Financial Aid.
