Florida State College at Jacksonville

I used to love this school and most of my professors have been great. However the last year and a half since I have returned it has really gone downhill. Financial aid keeps messing up and so I missed half a semester of classes and lost half my grant for not being full time because only 2 classes I needed were offered C8 session. This semester my disbursement was delayed a month because they had to hand calculate it and I was getting bills in the mail. The dean won't do anything about a professor... Read More who did not post any info until the end of week 2 of an 8 week course, the required book he is grading out paper based on us following steps from is not available at any library or the school bookstore and is not even available on Amazon currently and graded all our assignments half way through the last week so not we have to scramble to revise them in 4 day to resubmit to raise our grade from the stuff we missed from not having the book. And trying to find out who to contact about anything is near impossible. I have to call 4 people to find out who the new dean of IT was.

Honestly this school looks good on the outside due to its low cost to attend. The problem, is getting into school as the counselors do not care and barely do their job while giving you a run around regardless how early you start looking into a semester. To obtain my degree I was consistently told to do one thing and then do another. The branch at the Navy base could care less of what I was trying to do and were there to get a paycheck. Majority of instructors were great but if another community college (St. Johns River State College) offers the same classes, if would run to them and then finish whatever there is left with FSCJ.

I love FSCJ don't get me wrong. But the advisors had me taking classes that I didn't have to take for the Nursing program. I ended up takin my sciences last (Microbo, Anatomy 1 &2, Chemistry, Nutrition) I passed all except Microbio. The first time I had withdraw and the second time I made an 68.7 but my Professor  wouldn't round my grade to an C. So I had to appeal which I did not win (of course their gonna take up for their own) so now i'm stuck having to take it a 3rd time and now I have to pay... Read More out of pocket (1614.08 plus books) so around $1800 that I don't HAVE. i'm so pissed because I could have been in the RN program 2 semesters ago, but instead i'm looking for a school I can get into for the RN program.

The college is good because it has a wide variety class options for all people. If you have to go to class or take them online the options are available. It is hard to get things taken care of though. Never try to call to take care of something because they never answer the phone at student services.
