"This college is the worse college ever ! A Complete scam ! They lack communication, you can email teachers even the dean and they NEVER respond but would be on canvas sending out announcements. Was suppose to have a pinning ceremony WE DIDN’T they won’t even tell me when I would receive my diploma. I wouldn’t recommend this school to ANYONE ! stay far away ! Teachers do NOT teach they don’t prepare you for anything. I literally taught myself everything that I know! They had us complete “swift river” in place for clinicals because of Covid stated that the state boards approved of us completing swift-river assignments just for us to finish the program and they say we have to complete all the clinicals we did swift-river for. Didn’t receive any hands on experience in any labs or sims. The clinicals we did attend they used us as CNAs ! If you go to this school GOOD LUCK ON THE EXIT HESI they don’t prep you for it at all and you only get 2 chances."

"This school is a joke . They are just worried about their money and thats it. Student like and academic are not something that comes first at this school . My education was put on the back burner. I search for guidance, and a mentor but no one would give the time of day. I wouldnt recommended this school to anyone ."

"I am about to enter my last quarter at this place. Most would be happy and relieved, I am not. I am scared. We were just passed along, the instructors honestly just added a couple points to our exams so that we would reach the passing grades. No one in my group should be where we are now, I can make 2 instructors that need to be looked into. The study guides they started to give us are currently question by question that goes in the order of the exams. I failed a class and was able to get passed along, it's that easy. The president at this school is a joke, all he cares about is the pass rating of the exit exam and those words came out of his mouth. The Dean of nursing is pretty much non existent when it comes to having issues she'll just talk to the instructors and once again just pass us along. Would I recommend this school? Absolutely not. This is at the Centerville location in case anyone needs to know. I am currently in the process of getting in touch with the Ohio board to address my complaints. Shall I continue to contain about the clinicals, as they are even worse?"

Colleagues

Thank you very much for this dialogue.....nursing is probably one of the most challenging major with so much that must be learned in a very short period of time. You are absolutely accurate in your assessment that success requires significant time studying and ownership of your own learning. Faculty should be there to coach and mentor you along the learning journey. If there are specific challenges please share them with your faculty, Dean, and as needed Campus President. The eventual reward of becoming a nurse will make the journey well worth the effort required.

"Great program! Instructors are willing to help students in anyway possible. Small, caring, with a great learn atmosphere. I would highly recommend the LPN class because they are at night. It has been a great experience and I am looking forward to continuing to my RN at Fortis College"

I am concerned that it appears you had a less than satisfactory experience with one of our Fortis schools. I would welcome an opportunity to discuss your concerns so together we can explore options to support you in your educational efforts.

"I'm currently enrolled in the LPN program and I would not recommend this school to anyone they don't teach at all they just expect you to learn the material on your own. They don't teach you to be a nurse they teach you to take a test. The teachers don't make the tests at all so when you get your going in blind, certain people on the staff are rude and try to control what you do and criticize you when your not there. I highly recommend reading up on it first and look around. Do not choose Fortis."

I am very disappointed to learn that you are having some challenges with your goal of becoming a LPN. If you would provide me the name of the Fortis College/Institute I will do all I can to resolve your issues.

"Please do not waste your time attending this school. They are not about education but solely money. A complete disappointment."

"I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I have heard of worse complaints from other nursing schools in the area. With Fortis, I got what I came for. I'm a LPN. I plan to return this fall for the RN program because it is the quickest way to reach my goals. Some of my instructors were awesome and went above and beyond to ensure we understood the concepts. Some just lectured and assigned homework and told us to read the book if we had questions. There is going to be problems anywhere, there weren't many here that I couldn't ignore."

"At fortis you will learn that you can obtain any career as long as someone teaches you and you are willing to learn. Which not the case here since a lot of it is taught by instructors who are also in school and know little about teaching and too busy with their own homework so they don't have time to really focus on their teaching job. The DON is new and clearly has no control over the staff since there is no structure, grading rubrics, they don't follow the syllabus and the school has sent invitations to check out the campus even tho we are already enrolled "at fortis we care about the students" yet they don't even realize you are already there. They mix up classes so u show up following your schedule for one class and go into class to see that they have actually switched classes for u for that day. The material isn't hard, nursing can be learned so the hype about "wanting it" and being strong and going through the stress isn't so much of nursing itself but of the lack of professionalism, interest, teaching, and the lack of integrity from the Fortis staff, most of the recruiters don't even ole or greet you but instead are rude non the less the principle who clearly knows there's issues in the nursing department but is probably too busy trying to control the retained percentile/pass ratings for the "business" if Tharp cared he'd at least monitor who actually gets hired and really sit in as opposed of doing brief walkthroughs with the DON. The only thing fortis can offer is a no waiting list. My advice take your pre reqs at a community college and do the LPN 9 month program, save time and money and a lot of stress that comes with Fortis admin, staff and the people they let slide through the tests. Given back points to an exam because a lot of people missed questions doesn't do anyone any good as far as teaching. They get on things they have not covered in class, then go over after the test on the rationale why u missed what u missed instead of just teaching it before they test you on it. This place is money focused, not education focused. By the way they have an LRC"library" where there is no group studying or  the "librarian" who was previously teaching classes there will rudely tell you to shut it. So, please don't drink the water in Mexico don't drink and drive and DO NOT attend any Fortis "colleges" it's what brings the "stress" into nursing."

"Class sizes are to big, students rude, teachers play utube videos as a way to sit in their offices to eat! Teachers never make time to help you and in fact they remind you they have lives too!"

"Fortis College isnt a good school to go to for ANYTHING ecspecially NURSING.they will give you a tour of the school showing you nothing.the teachers arent there for you when you need them you basically have to work around there time and if you have a job or children you can forget about it!! they dont restock or order new supplies for the students to learn anything you basically share or watch the instructor do a demo.SAD!try practicing how to put on sterile gloves with gloves out the box!!!Even though you mite recieve financial aid and there getting money regardless they will email you and tell you not show up to class for $1,they came up with a dumb rule about not counting your homework unless your passing your test and quizzes (there the only ones who that)i figure your work is your work and we work VERY HARD ON EVERYTHING and spend alot of time doing it.signing up for fortis is a gimic and the whole you can fail one class and after that they drop you from the program and send you on your way so you have to spend even more money to find another school to go to and they dont transfer your credits. so the NURSING program basically sets you up for failure. # of students in the beginning 23,# of students moving on to the next semester 9,# of students to graduate 2!!!! REALLY. if you do sign up to experience it withdraw within 3-4 days or you will be stuck."
