Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2018

My wife attending Fortis College in Orange Park. After graduating and passing the NCLEX for RN, she is now finding it difficult to find a job. Several places have told her they would not hire her because Fortis did not have accreditation. She was led to believe they were while attending.

I am the parent of a graduate. First, the college is extremely overpriced for the education received.Second, professors and deans do not respond to calls, texts, emails or communicate when contacted without multiple efforts which may or may not result in a response. Finally, gainful employment is very difficult with a fortis certificate.

Degree: Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering Technology/Technician
Graduation Year: 2015

Class size very small, incoming students mix with already students and may take an advance class before a basics class, making learning hard if not taken in order. After graduation, we never had our promised graduation ceremony it's been over a year already.

I went to this school thinking that I would have a good trade under my belt. The classes we're hit or miss. Either the teacher knew what she was talking about, you got a teacher that taught from a book, or you got a completely unnecessary class. My director Mr. Martin Freel, lied to my employer, told him that I did not come to school, on a day he (freel) demanded I come or I'd fail my externship. Now I'm finding out today ( 2/9/16) I paid tuition from a school " learning from their mistakes", no radiology certification, no guidance of where to certify, and no job to start with ( I found a job by MYSELF a YEAR later). They took my money and gave my NOTHING. Not even some type of refund for what I didn't learn that they now offer. I was recommended to retake the whole thing over, for another 11 months. I have a husband, a job, and my parents to care for! I don't have time to do it over. I'm not sure on how much has "changed" but im not going through it anymore! Thank you fortis in landover for practicing on me, you will NEVER do it again.

It is ridiculous that Corporate was the one making the test when they are not the one teaching the students. I think personally that students were being set up for failure so they could get more money out of students. I would definitely not recommend this stupid school to anybody. If corporate wants to run the show, they should be the one coming to classroom teaching students. Our teachers can only do so much. They are good teachers, but the test really screwing the students up.

Degree: Medical Office Assistant/Specialist
Graduation Year: 2012

I would NOT recommend this school. They did not help me find a job, even after I was on unemployment and needed help. And I had 15 years of Medical Office experience. I have a school loan to pay back.. for the rest of my life, without a job in Medical Billing... and I am certified. IT's a joke. They need to refund your money.

Do not come here for dental assisting! Worse experience of my life and a total run for your money. This facility does not have enough equipment for the students, they lie and tell you your class size will be small but in all actuality the class size is large, and the director of the dental assistant program is VERY RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, and DOES NOT LIKE TO SEE HIS STUDENTS EXCELL, he will do ANYTHING in his power to see you fail even if it means spreading lies! THEEEEE ABSOLUTE WORSE EXPIRENCE EVER!!!! I did learn a lot, however it's not worth the stress.

Degree: Medical Assistant
Graduation Year: 2014

I chose to attend Fortis College in high hopes that receiving certification and my RMA would help me find a career in the health field. After graduating I was extremely disappointed to say the least. The instructors are ok, I would say only one (clinical instructor) was amazing. She was in tune with her class, and showed great interest in her students' success. After our schooling we were to complete a 6 week "externship". The head of the Medical Assistant program who was in charge of that never seemed to be interested in the needs of the students, and just threw the students anywhere for their externship hardly researching the facilities. The office I was in was GHETTO and unprofessional. Mind you we were stuck there for 6 weeks. Every time I tried to find an externship on my own he would NEVER follow up with the facilities so I had no choice. I understand that it is the students job to work hard to find their own employment after the program, however we were fed all of these lies about how amazing career services at the school was. I applied for jobs of my own however, every single "lead" they gave me and interview they sent me on were at run down out of date doctors offices that seemed shady, that only offered minimum wage with no benefits. When I asked them to follow up with the jobs I applied for like I was told, they just made excuses like " Oh I don't have a connect for that office" or "I know I won't be able to get in touch with the employer". If that's the case why are you here? It was almost like they were just trying to reach a quota instead of actually trying to send their students that paid over 16,000 to attend a 9 month training program to solid legit doctors offices and/or hospitals. I just ended up working with the company I was employed with before Fortis. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Attend another training school!

Graduation Year: 2014

If you want a serious opinion and experience you will read this review. This school is a joke and only wants your money and put you in debt. If you decide to attend this school, I guarantee that you will be highly disappointed. The nursing program has a witch for a director of nursing and she is Satan himself. She is rude, uncoof, nasty attitude, has a record of 22 cases of abuse in Michigan and lost her license for 5 yrs., if you don't believe me, look her up. (Edna B. Wilkerson). She is a liar, fake, insensitive, non compassionate and all around the worst don I have ever came across. How can a school allow a person to be over their nursing program with charges of abuse on her record. :-( I am telling you to run and run fast. The school has programs that are not accredited, they have teachers teaching that are not licensed with the State, they do not help, they lie about the programs, they do not communicate, the students are kept in the dark, they have previous and upcoming lawsuits against them. Do your research before going to this school. Don't be fooled or lied to no matter how good it sounds. I strongly advise you to choose another school, you will not regret it in the end.
