"The biochemistry graduate program at George Washington is an excellent program in that the faculty strives to teach concepts that are relevant to today's research goals and technology. The program is small so students can readily gain access to faculty outside the classroom and the classes have been designed to give a broad foundation in the concepts of biochemistry while incorporating real world medical research/topics. The faculty also tries to be consciousnesses of the costs associated with the laboratory courses and they work to minimize that cost on the student. The only draw back is the constant revising of the program from year to year which results in certain classes no longer being offered or courses being combined together."

"I believe this is an amazing program, but I believe the quality of the program is determined more by the student involvement than the university. To reword what I am saying, the quality is a direct reflection of the quality of students rather than the actual educational quality. As any university there are professors who are great, professors who are awful and professors who fall somewhere in between. The involvement of the school in a student's success is amazing, the career center is amazing and the overall experience is amazing."

"Pros: Overall good university, nice campus, DC is a great place with a lot of opportunities for gov. jobs (international development etc, politics) and federal consulting. People are great (both students and in the surrounding DC area), most of the professors are great as well. Cons: Not much career prospects for international students (federal jobs require clearance),a lot of other strong universities in the area + other Americans come from top schools to work in DC. Outside of gov-t and politics, alumni base is not that strong, business school is ranked somewhere between 50 and 60, career service is targeted on undergrads and MBAs/Eliott School grads. GWU is more like a one dimensional school...Good for International Affairs (Elliot school degrees), maybe Law and Healthcare and thats probably it..."

"The GW Business Administration graduate program offers an elite education at an expensive price. The workload provides valuable information and finding that balance between work and school can be difficult but is manageable."

"I love my classes at GWU. I think my professors are attentive to the students and are knowledgeable about the subjects. Unfortunately, GWU is very expensive. It is expensive to live in DC and is difficult to work while being a full time student."

"This graduate program is highly dedicated to ensuring that the student receives the full-benefits and experience of the program. They emphasize self-care, moderation, collaboration, achievement, and community awareness. The students never lack for opportunities of advancement, interaction with and knowledge provided from local experts/authorities on the career of choice."

"My program is wonderful in that my graduating class is very diverse. The faculty are very supportive of students and go out of their way to assist students with research ideas and interests. The workload is high, but the education I'm receiving is certainly worth it."

"I attended GWU between 2007 and 2009 for my Masters in Public Health degree. Overall I have found my experience useful. I received a number of fellowships after the program and eventually a job that was related to my field of study. In addition, the program sent me to Africa for a semester to work with a small non-profit giving me invaluable experience. In addition, the class were challenging and informative, especially once I made it past the standard core classes. I was able to specialize and take classes that were more suited to my interest. The school however is not without its faults. The Global Health Department, was completely unhelpful during my entire 2 years. In fact, over the course of the two years, I had 4 department appointed advisers, one of whom I only met with once. The program at times was unorganized, changed almost constantly, and faculty members were frequently difficult to reach. Some of the departmental classes had similar issues. It was not infrequent to have the same guest speakers in back to back classes thereby hearing the same lecture multiple classes. From what I hear, this has changed, and the Global Health Department and MPH program is stronger than ever. It's unfortunate that I was not able to share in this experience."

"Being that this is my first year here and I have not taken full advantage of all there is to offer going to school in DC, I find that this school is really worthwhile. The faculty and supporting staff have your best interests at heart and are very willing to share knowledge of upcoming opportunities. I kept hearing things like this spoken left and right from other students, but you never truly understand until you are submerged into the school with the day to day activities. The opportunities found here at George Washington University are honestly not like anywhere else."

"I really enjoyed studying in the American Studies Department. I feel that their research seminar increased my levels of analysis and writing. However, I do not think that the American Studies Department should have a concentration in Museums and Material Culture. There is little cohesion between the American Studies faculty and the Museum Studies faculty. None of the faculty of the American Studies department knew anything about the concentration. It is left completely to the student to find the most applicable courses, internships, and career advisors. It was nice to be able to take courses from the Museum Studies, Museum Education and American Studies departments, but the lack of faculty involvement or advising left me wondering at the point of the concentration."

"This program is ranked # 4, according to Newsweek and World Report. The faculty will do whatever they can to make sure the student succeeds. As a student I will be prepared to practice medicine when I graduate. The area is fantastic. There is so much to do and see. My family will not get bored, while I am in school. A con of this and any other PA program is that I will have limited time to explore the area and spend the desired amount of time with my family. Also, I will have to commute via metro into the city due to the high cost of living. On the other hand, the metro is a very convenient source of transportation to that I don't have to fight the city traffic and pay for parking in the city. I know that even though I have less time for my family now it will definitely pay off in the future and I will eventually have much more time in the future."

"The George Washington University graduate program in Art Therapy is an amazing program. The faculty is supportive and extremely knowledgeable about the still budding field of Art Therapy. There is a vast amount of information to learn and the professors provide great resources as well as help for the students to find internships. The only con I can think of about my graduate program is the cost. While going to school, I do not have time to work part-time to make extra money to help pay off my loans. I am dedicated to my studies and I know I am getting the best education at The George Washington University, despite the expenses."
