"I entered the program in the middle of the pandemic, where my first year (fall to spring) were all online. The school was still adjusting to online learning and had live zoom classes, which were OK. The quality of professor were mediocre, and quizzes were an absolute joke. Once it came time to prepare for the internship phase, my class reached out to the designated person who provides connections/contacts for interviewing at facilities. This specific person gave all students the same contacts, which were extremely outdated. Most students did not get replies or were told Hofstra was not in contact with them within the past 5 years. The head of the department does not prioritize student's concerns about course content or the way the program is being run. The department did not communicate to the students about the NCE exam, which is not required for NYS but is preferred for an extra credential. Adjunct professors are usually not engaging/passionate. Overall, I do not feel that I have received my money's worth in this program."

"I pursued two bachelor's degree at Hofstra. Elementary Education and Italian. The Elementary Education program was strong in covering as many grade levels as possible. I taught in a classroom in every grade kindergarten to fifth grade. I think it would have been better to experience one classroom culture for longer. As for my Italian degree, the teachers were also very good but I completed my degree only proficient in the language, not fluent. We spoke English in the first four levels. Hofstra is an expensive private school but granted me a scholarship that covered about half of tuition. I still left college with a large amount of debt. Lastly, I had an amazingly supportive and engaging community in the Honor's College and that is what truly made me enjoy the university."

"It was a really great school! Most of my time was spent in the science department and while the classes were extremely difficult, it definitely paid off in the long run. The campus is absolutely beautiful and you are located just a short drive from Roosevelt Field Mall and Jones Beach. The faculty of the Physician Assistant Program is extremely helpful and truly wants you to succeed. Given that it is a private university, it is definitely a bit pricey but the education you are getting is worth every penny."

"Hofstra University's Dance Education program is an amazing program. The professors are knowledgable, kind, caring, amazing educators. Each professor is an expert in their field and give their students a comprehensive look at the world of dance or the world of education. Though the course load is extensive, the administrators are always there to help and push their students to do their best. There are multiple opportunities to choreograph, teach, and work with experts in the NYC area. When you graduate you have multiple connections with educators all around the country and are certified to teach dance in NY. An amazing program, completely worth the investment of time and money."

"Hofstra was an amazing school, with great professors and a diverse student body population. The only thing I wish I did differently was listen to my parents who told me to go to a state school for my first two years. Naturally, I didnt listen. I changed my major a few times, and ultimately, the first two years could have been done anywhere, and I would be in a lot less debt."

"My experience at Hofstra was amazing! The professors are brilliant and truly care about students. They are available and invested in your future and that's what I loved the most about being a Hofstra student. The community was vibrant and full of life. There are so many events and groups to be a part of. I would highly recommend Hofstra -- the experience was one that I would never forget! The school also has a great reputation!"

"Hofstra University offered me the ultimate private school experience that I am eternally grateful for. Not only are the professors amazing, but the staff at all levels of administration have always been nothing short of helpful with anything and everything I needed. I had so many opportunities at Hofstra that I have not seen my friends at other schools experience. Entering college, I was unsure of what I wanted to study; with the help of my amazing professors, I found my niche. I was able to do research with one of those professors, and get published in a scholarly journal. That same professor helped me land my full time job, which I had lined up after graduation!"

"Hofstra is a nicely sized private school on Long Island. Its not huge and its not tiny. Its rare to find someone who knows EVERYONE, but its not impossible to know a large percent of the school population. It all depends on how much you're willing to get out there and meet people. The landscaping is gorgeous here, since it is a national arboretum. There are big grassy quads where (when its nice out) you'll find big groups of kids sitting on studying, reading, listening to music, playing games, or just hanging out between classes/avoiding homework! Its like a picture straight out of a college brochure. Hofstra doesnt have the greatest reputation (because of the stereotypes) but its becoming a better school everyday. The one big flaw is that it lacks a college-town. Since it is located in Hempstead, students dont have the opportunity to walk "up-town" and catch a movie, or grab dinner, or do some shopping. Campus is very safe (its a closed campus after 10:30pm) but walking around Hempstead at night isn't the best choice. Although there isn't a college-town, we have NYC! It's only a 30-40 minute train ride away, so that opens the door for sooo many opportunities! Its a fun place to spend the weekend, and allows for many internship opportunities."

"The professors are wonderful. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. The campus is large but most classes in any Master's Programs will be in the same building or buildings close together."

"My college education really prepared me for the real world. We used case studies which were really thought provoking and interactive as opposed to listening to lectures."

"My undergraduate experience at Hofstra has been the best four years of my life so far, and I loved it so much that I decided to come back for my master's. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on this site about the school, but the thing is that every school has its up and downs and there's no such thing as one perfect school. Regardless of where you end up, your college experience will be what you make it. I didn't enjoy my classes initially. Once I changed majors and started studying something that I loved, however, everything fell into place. My professors were also extremely dedicated and cared about us as individuals. Most of them are still active practitioners in their field, so they teach at night and work during the day. They were all super knowledgeable and up-to-date in their fields, which can't be said for every college. A lot of people complain about the cost of tuition here, but the school gives out so much scholarship money that it's pretty doable. The return on investment is worth it, too - having their name on my CV has opened a number of doors already, and the alumni network is huge. Overall, I can't recommend Hofstra enough."

"I have loved everything about my experience at Hofstra so far. The school has given me so many opportunities in just three years here. I have met some of my best friends since attending, and I feel as if I have my own life away from home. It really feels like a community, in the school of communication and at the university as a whole. I could't see myself anywhere else!"

"Hofstra University is an amazing school with amazing opportunities. Upon finishing my sophomore year, I already had internship experience and many professionals within my personal network. Professors are always willing to make time for students, even outside of class. The campus is filled with beautiful plant-life. In addition, Hofstra is really close to NYC, which is perfect for students looking for internship and job experience!"

"The school is great. Simply put. If you are someone that wants to further themselves personally and professionally than this is the place for you. If you want to pursue leadership opportunities and set yourself apart from the crowd, this is the place for you. If you're someone who just wants to wake up, go to class, rinse and repeat, then there are better places to go (if I'm being honest). The school does have a bit of a cost to it, but they do give scholarships and financial aid out to many if not most students. But regardless, the resources, experiences, and opportunities you have here as a student significantly outweigh that number. I am graduating within the next year, and I have little to no doubt that I can find a career out there and pay back my student debt in no time. I loved my professors and the administrators here who helped me out along the way. My best advice is for students who come here to not be afraid to ask questions, take the extra step, and explore all of their possibilities."

"Hofstra University is a great university overall, the only real complaint I have is the number of tutoring positions in the engineering department. The chemistry department has at least one for every major subject but the engineering department only has two available overall."
