"Thee Jackson State University is a great school to attend. The atmosphere is very welcoming. As a student there are numerous opportunities to get involved on campus and in the community. The organizations on campus make themselves seen so that new students can express interest and potentially join. College is what you make it. The resources are there to fuel your success. The faculty is dedicated to ensuring the success of all students."

"As a transfer student to Jackson State University getting there in Winter of 2016, I can not to directly speak to the freshman and sophomore years, however, as a student coming in and immediately working on my major I will say there are many pros and cons to the Communication program. After graduating from Jackson State, I realized that my experience and success was more about optimizing and leveraging my skillset with companies/organizations outside of Jackson, MS and focusing on more online, remote opportunities. Jackson, MS has a very limited communication industry with a lot of opportunities specifically for broadcast journalism and reporting, however for individuals that may be interested in Press sector, political communications, and/or online communication you have to be resourceful and prepared to either travel out of state for internships opportunities in the Summer or like myself working remotely with online companies as an intern while simultaneously using what I'm learning in class to support what I'm actively applying in the workspace."

"JSU was the best choice for me. Mostly all of my family members chose JSU. I know that they are successful individuals, and I also know that JSU played a vital role in their careers. From the start JSU's rich HBCU traditions and all that it has to offer pulled me in from the start. I have always loved JSU and everything it stands for. Through my matriculation through college, I have gained the best knowledge from the wonderful professors there. I felt welcomed from the time I started and throughout. Choosing JSU was the best choice."

"Jackson State University and its Political Science department is truly an awesome program. I was advised by wise yet professional professor's, whom of which has a great resume and legal background. I would recommend individuals whom are interested in Political Science to attend Jackson State University, your experience there will be worth every penny!"

"Jackson State University is a very diverse school. If you enjoy being around people and a sense of community this is the perfect school. Attending this school will greatly teach you things about yourself..if you want things done you have to do them yourself here as with most schools. The advising and guiding could be a lot better. Allowing students to slip through the cracks should be improved quite a few delayed graduations. As far as education I can only speak for my department but I believe that they taught to the best of their abilities and would help their students out when they could. I don't think this school is worth the tuition costs. Jsu doesn't handle money well and can get a bit greedy. Overall I enjoyed my matriculation through this university."

"Jackson State University gave me the best experience I could ask for in gaining preparation for the "real" world. The professors and the curriculum was intense but very thorough in giving knowledge that is necessary for me to demonstrate what is necessary in implementing therapy methods and techniques to the clients I serve everyday. I am so glad that I chose Jackson State University. No other school would have prepared me as much as my alma mater has. #theeilove"

"When I chose Jackson State University to pursue my undergraduate and graduate studies it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Being there felt so right and everyone I encountered cared. If I had to sum the university up in one word, it would be "Family"."

"I really was excited to go to a HBCU, I did my research on the program that I wanted to enroll in. I visited the school, everyone is very nice (of course it is the south). I originally came from California. My first year was good. I didn't have any problems. My second year I had problems with getting financial aid, classes, and a few other things. Once I graduated (above a 3.0 gpa) I was sure that I would get a job in my field back home. It is now 2015 going into 2016 and I have yet to have a career in Mass Communications or Marketing. If you are from out of state I would say don't attend. They can care less about their out of state students unless you play a major sport for them."

"When choosing a school out of high school, I had many to select from. Jackson State University felt so much like home. From the students attending to the staff that worked there. It just seemed that everyone cared about the growth of students. The professors are like family and the department heads can be your best friend. I would suggest for the best experience one should learn to respect the chain of command. My experience at Jackson State University prepared me for my career and I'm thankful of the people I encountered during my undergraduate years. I would definitely recommend this university to anyone taking their education seriously."

"I wasn't being challenged as much as I would like to have been. Its a very competitive workforce out there, I don't feel that I am equipped with all the skills I need to put me at the top."

"Jackson State University is a great institution for preparing a student for a career in social work. I received overwhelming support from my professors and advisers toward earning a Master's of Social Work degree. I especially learned a lot from the Social Welfare Policy and Cultural Diversity classes. Also, I appreciate the opportunity toward furthering my career aspiration and developing my professional skills. I would recommend this program to anyone interested in pursuing a degree in social work."

"The hours are flexible. I attend night classes because I work during the day. Its hard to catch up with your professors this way. I also feel as if the workload is not challenging enough for the competiveness in academia and industry."
