Kaplan University Reviews - Bachelor's in Accounting
I had a great experience with Kaplan University online. My professors we professionals in their field. Every day they worked in the fields that they were teaching. Part of my bachelors degree was from a big brick an mortar school, what I realized from a those professors was that none of them had actually worked in the areas that they were teaching in over 10 years, their real world experience was dated and was only updated by them reading the news or online blogs. My Kaplan online professors worked in their fields during the day and taught their field at night, their experience was more relevant and up to date. My business law class was taught by a professor who was a lawyer during the day. My HR class was taught by a professor with a PhD in HR who was judge during the day, my accounting classes were all taught by professors who were practicing CPAs, my finances classes were all taught by people who work in finance during the day. In addition to their up-to-date real world experience, many of my professors had multiple degrees. What I learned was fresh and up-to-date, not 10+ years old.
Kaplan was a good experience. I learn a lot, and it wasn't easy. It was not a short cut either. The courses were tough. I have read so many negative reviews about online degrees, but they came from people that attended the traditional brick and mortar schools. In the end it doesn't matter what school you go to. If you don't put effort and dedication, you will not accomplish much.
Kaplan online is a very diverse school. I enjoyed the professor's instructional lessons, as well as being able to meet people from all over the world. I've made new friends from attending kaplan online. This university is an awesome place to learn. I would recommend kaplan.edu to anyone.
When I started at Kaplan I had no idea of what to expect out of an online school. I obtain my first degree back in the early 90's in criminal justice. When I started my schooling here at Kaplan I started over as a freshman with no degree (due to laws changing which made mine no good). As of September of 2015 I will be graduating with my B.S. in Accounting. With the pace and ability to work as needed on all assignments I have been able to complete a Bachelors degree in 3 years unlike "brick and mortar" school which is normally 4 to 5 years depending on the student, school and other factors. I see people taking about how expensive Kaplan is but what I do not see is the mention of the different discount programs that Kaplan offers like military, dependent etc.... one of the biggest advantages is that Kaplan also offers a 5 week trail to see how you like it. if for any reason you are not happy within the first 5 weeks you and withdraw from Kaplan and have no financial aid or loans to pay back. its like you never even started.
My advisor was so horrible and unprofessional I ended up enrolling at another school. She talked down to me and even sent me horrible emails. This college is a joke. Don't waste your time. I received wonderful treatment from Strayer University. They went above and beyond and that makes a world of difference.
I was really unsure of all colleges I looked into but Kaplan is a very friendly and supportive school. The classes are extremely flexible and there are many different support centers if you need help. So far it has been an excellent experience.
I am in my third year at Kaplan and I have never had a problem with financial aid, student support, or any of my professors.
The workload for the classes is easily manageable, I work 40 hours a week and maintain a 3.80 GPA or higher. I can not say yet if my degree has helped my career since I am changing careers and not yet done with my degree, but I do believe it will.
I would recommend Kaplan to anyone looking for an online school.
