Kaplan University Reviews - Bachelor's in Paralegal
Review of Paralegal Bachelors Degrees
All they want is money. You leave this school with no real academic standing or insight or knowledge into your field of study. For those who are saying that others did not apply themselves, I say to that I did. The people on here that are giving out good ratings for this school probably work for the school. Ha, laugh out loud. If a school is not accredited by the ABA, do not attend it. It will be a waste or your time and money.
Overall, the student advisors were very helpful and the Professors were excellent. I graduated with a GPA 3.6 cum laude. However, accreditation with the American Bar Association (ABA) is non-existent. This can be a problem in Florida civil service, because you must graduate from an approved ABA institution to retain employment and/or become a registered paralegal with the Florida Bar.
I was thrilled that as a single stay at home mother who was also an in home care nurse for my grandparents, would be able to jump into college and get a degree I could use! Very helpful at first... as first semester went on though the advisers were changed on me, stopped calling me, and when second semester started and I was ASSURED that I was registered for classes I couldn't log into them. I called my adviser and was told sorry, I am no longer yours.. Transferred over to new one. "Oh yes it says here that you were never registered. I will register you as a late start." Wonderful. day of starting couldn't log in. Called tech support... "Sorry but your log in has been suspended due to inactivity." What inactivity I tried to log in to my class to work! was told well your not registered any longer. AND my credits will not transfer to any creditable college.. just like another online "University" I tried years ago falsely stating they are acredited. WRONG... I have loans now for absolutely NOTHING.. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL.
I loved the flexibility offered through online education - it would be nice to have a campus or office nearby, though, for admissions or financial questions and concerns.
This is a great program with great professors. It is very convenient to be able to take courses at home. I do wish the career placement program were a little more pro-active with its services or receptive of alumni phone calls - I have found it difficult to find a position in my field.
This school is terrible for helping students. The teachers are amazing it is the dean and academic support that is terrible. I had a 3.6 GPA and they would not let me take 4 classes instead of 3 so I could finish up my degree a semester early. They would never tell me why the request was denied by the dean. I had to fax in a form 3 times before someone was able to get it. THey are really unorganized and only seem to care about the money. If I didnt have just one semester left I would have left the school. They seem to not care about you once you are enrolled and almost done. Also, when I was registering for classes they messed up my start date and even 4 days before classes began it was all messed up and I was not able to start on time. I tried for 3 weeks to get a hold of my academic advisor and never could.
