I am currently in my second term at Kaplan and so far I am having a very positive experience. I have learned quite a bit and find their online campus and classrooms high quality. I do wish they were more selective with who they allowed to enroll. It is obvious some people are not invested and are hoping they can somehow earn a degree just by being enrolled. It is always annoying when you are trying hard to see people slacking off, but that is more my problem. I am concerned about the cost. It is quite expensive and for that reason I may transfer in the future to a non-profit, but it will only be because of the cost. I am a full time professional and a mom to a toddler so Kaplan works perfectly for my lifestyle. I had a very easy admissions process and financial aid has been fine as well. My only outstanding concern with Kaplan is that if I do decide to change schools for cost reasons that my credits will be accepted. Overall, I would recommend this school.
I want to redo my review. I am 5 weeks in to my second term. I made the President's list in my first term with a 4.0 and I am hoping to continue doing so. My Academic Advisor has been an amazing help, as well as other advisors I have talked to, and I can honestly say, the financial aid department have done a complete 360, and have been an amazing help as well. I have never been happier. I love it here.
I received a BS degree in Business Administration at Kaplan. I really liked the course pace and level of ease for the online program. I went to school exclusively online. This program was great for my work schedule. The teachers were generally very good an knowledgeable. I only maybe 2 teachers that were negligent at times. The counselors were very concerned about my progress and even called and emailed me if I didn't login into class. I graduated and I would recommend this school , especially for working students. The cost is very expensive however.
I graduate in a couple of months with my BS in business admin and I have had a great experience. Most of the bad reviews are by people that didn't make it for one reason or another. Also, there are a lot of people complaining about financial aid? They have been fine for me. I went to a brick and mortar school for my associates degree before coming to Kaplan and they were much much worse. I waited in line for hours at that school for financial aid at least twice per year. I have chosen to go with another school for my MBA, but that is only because I wanted something different and non-profit. There have been no issues with transferring credits etc. The professors at Kaplan have all been fantastic. You will be fine as long as you can write and speak English well. There are a lot of papers. I think that Kaplan needs to be more selective with admissions, and it will cut down on these people that go online to post bad reviews because of one ridiculous reason or another. Kaplan is a great school with great professors, and you should feel confident that you will receive a good education by attending this school.
This is a great program with great professors. It is very convenient to be able to take courses at home. I do wish the career placement program were a little more pro-active with its services or receptive of alumni phone calls - I have found it difficult to find a position in my field.
Kaplan is a good school. It is like any other typical online school. It's not a walk in the park especially if your more of a visual & hands on learner. Kaplan like any other college requires a lot of APA formatted writing and essays. I spent 2 years with Kaplan. Initially I was enrolled in a bachelor's degree program but I switched to an associates because I was just about done with the credit requirements for one and wanted to go ahead and jump into the field. People have their own personal opinions and bad experiences but I never had any bad experiences. Each and every one of my professors were educated, dedicated and professional. Most with PhDs. Some were a little more strict than others but of course keep in mind it is college. It is an expensive college to attend but if online is what you need, this is a good school of choice. I am a mother and online met my needs. I was always able to reach academic support & financial aid when needed and they were always genuine. I never had any funding issues or over charges. The fees are as it states clearly. Kaplan is NOT a place to breeze through with A's or a walk in the park like some might suggest it is. I did graduate with highest honors "4.0" but I worked very hard and met all of my requirements per class. I never turned ANY assignment in late or lacked in writing my papers in the required APA format. I suggest for new college peers to enroll in college comp 1 & 2 before jumping into most major courses. I never knew how to write an APA paper before those 2 courses. After college comp 2 I became very great at writing APA styled essays. Teachers are very easy to get in touch with. They have emails listed and some are generous enough to even provide their very own cell phone numbers. The downside is the required 1 hr seminar per class per week. On the bright side though, if you miss the seminar due to some kind of life event or late work hours, there is an option 2. It's most commonly a 200-500 word writing assignment over the unit weeks topic. Very simple and easy. The exams are dreadful because they are timed and you only get to take them once. Once again though, I managed never to get less than a 93 final grade in any of my courses. All my classes were with many different professors who had many different requirements. As I said before some more strict than others but they all have one thing in common, following the rubric and course syllabus. As long as you do that you are golden.
I have just signed up for the MA program with Kaplan University. I started my first Class on Wednesday May 13,2015. Thus far I have had a wonderful experience. After reading some of these reviews I'm praying it continues to be a positive experience. Everyone has gone above and beyond to make sure I'm comfortable and that I understand how to navigate around the classroom and the website. No school will be perfect, but I would definitely recommend this college upon the experience I've had thus far.
This is my first time in online college, and I was a bit nervous when I started. I just ended my first term, and so far I have to say I love Kaplan. The advisors are amazing, and have been a great help to me, and my instructors (although I've only had 2 so far), have been great. Their financial aid department does need a lot of work, I don't think when someone asks for help they should tell you to "google it", I think they should actually help guide you into finding your answers. There was a time a few weeks ago, I wasn't sure if I was going for what I really wanted to do, so I called Kaplan, and the advisor talked to me for about 45 minutes, and added some elective classes that I really wanted, that go great with my degree, she was a great help to me. So far my experience at Kaplan has been wonderful, but like I said, it's only my first term. I am hoping it stays wonderful.
My advisor was so horrible and unprofessional I ended up enrolling at another school. She talked down to me and even sent me horrible emails. This college is a joke. Don't waste your time. I received wonderful treatment from Strayer University. They went above and beyond and that makes a world of difference.
I enrolled in Kaplan after debating if I should attend this school. My first term was a breeze but I noticed one of my class was repeating almost every assignment. I felt like I was going in circles.Made dean's list! yay! Second term totally different. In one of my classes we had to share an instructor. He was teaching two classes at the same time! How would he possibly be available to comment on each response made????? I'm paying for this; it is not free. Also I began to become familiar with the school for profit. They hound you to enroll 24/7;non stop. Also very expensive! I am looking for a non for profit institution. Also the advisor that keep emailing me; I never ever spoke to her. Maybe she doesn't exist. Hey if Kaplan works for you great but please read how much it will cost. It is not cheap. Do you research before you enroll into any program.
