"Great professors. Was a good mix of old-school librarians and more modern librarians. However, maybe needs to focus more on up-and-coming trends or the future of library and information science more."

"I loved KSU. I never thought about going anywhere else. The campus is big enough without being cramped, but small enough to not be overwhelmed. There are so many places to go on and around campus. I would recommend Kent State to anyone."

"Kent was an amazing experience. You must take the initiative to reach out and ask for help when needed, but everyone there is looking out for you and your success. The friendships I made are irreplaceable."

"The Department of Geography had a very strong sense of community even though research interests varied widely among faculty and students. There was a good balance of academic and professional development opportunities available and a sense that the department and the topics we studied were increasingly relevant in today's world. Over all, I highly recommend Kent's Department of Geography. Kent State is a great place to be a graduate student. It's easy to get around and you get a lot of time with your advisor."

"Loved it, but only go if you know what you want to study and have money for it. Please avoid student loan debt, and please don't go to grad school--I did and it has ruined my life. Seriously."

"Like any school, Kent State has some programs that are worth the investment. Mine was not one of them. The major I chose was about to be eliminated, and I graduated with very little experience because of it. Six years later I finally feel like I've reached a place professionally where I would have liked to have been at graduation."

"Kent's aviation program is first class. It is a great curriculum with good job placement. The training and structure is very intimate and personalize; there is always faculty to help you or assist with any issues that may arise. I'm very happy with my decision to attend Kent, and I think very highly of the University."

"The KSU's Institute of Applied Linguistics' Master's Degree in Translation is without a doubt one of the top two in the country. The world-renowned faculty members are extremely knowledgeable in translation studies, yet humble, friendly and accessible. It has been such an honor to receive training in translation from such renowned experts. The work/scholarship opportunities there are what make this program definitely the best in the country compared to those offered by other renowned translation schools."

"I think that's the classes prepares me for the graduate program, however the professors have made students feel intimidated and afraid to come to them with queations and concerns. My personal experience has been poor in terms of finding help for employment on campus and advice for financial aid when seeking help. The knowledge I gain from the courses is vital and I have learned a great deal but I have found myself intimidated to ask questions and left feeling inadequate by attitudes of faculty."

"This graduate program has high standards for students and offers a variety of relevant field experiences to facilitate training. The faculty are very knowledgeable and helpful. It is a rigorous program, but it is worth it because of all the knowledge that is gained."

"Pros: Great mentors/advisors/faculty. In general, theres an open-door policy. KSU staff are hit and miss (facility services takes months to fix issues for students) but BMS staff are excellent. Recent efforts by new chair has greatly improved problems described below. This trend will hopefully continue. Cons: Coursework and workload tends to be low. Often courses are revised to make it easier for the laziest students. Not all students are lazy but the ones who are seem to define program. Bad students often graduate with PhDs and are 'pushed out' with low quality dissertations. Administration is a joke. Dont try to overcome the bureaucracy- nothing will change it. When problems arise, you are always wrong. Note: Advisors/Mentors are the key to success here. If you get a proactive, helpful, and challenging advisor/mentor, your experience can be very fulfilling. If you are lazy, you will also find this school fulfilling."

"Kent State University has a unique BMS program. Students can rotate and choose labs in a variety of campuses including NEOMED and the Cleveland Clinic. They offer a lot of financial support to students and offer a variety of other services. The town itself is nice, downtown Kent has a lively atmosphere. It is an hour from Cleveland, but with no good public transport it makes travel difficult without your own vehicle. Faculty at Kent and NEOMED are very helpful and willing to work with students. Coursework however, is not that challenging for students who have an adequate neuroscience/biological sciences background. Overall, Kent State University has a good program in Biomedical Sciences and I am satisfied with my education thus far."

"The Kent State University Master's of Arts in Mathematics for Secondary Education Teachers allows me to work full-time as a high school teacher while pursuing a master's degree. This program is tailored to my lifestyle and offers classes in the evenings and in the summer. Without this specific program at KSU, it would be extremely difficult for me to complete a master's degree program while simultaneously teaching full-time."

"This is an amazing program for those who enjoy working with translation. In 2013-2104 they created a course for Medical Interpreting which was amazing. My con is that the programs used for learning to use translation tools are very confusing and filled with flaws. This could also be because I sometimes struggle with technology. It was very interesting to find that although all of us love languages and access to them, some of us still shy away from technology. The professors are amazing and always willing to help and guide you. I found the most amazing documents hidden in our library for my case study and am looking forward to add Kent to my growing resume. Since Kent is often the first place many companies look for translators I am hoping that I will finally be where I need to be to settle into a career and more financially stable life."
