Student & Graduate Reviews
Karen R - 3/10/2012
"I started classes through LUO in 2010, and so far, have loved it. Like any school you attend, there will be professors you like more than others, and professors who are better at responding to questions, etc., than others.I'm surprised at the reviews from students complaining about the emphasis on scripture, etc., if you are attending a Baptist or Christian University, why in the world would you be upset with anything they require having to do with Scripture, etc.? It's like going to a steak house and complaining that the menu has too much beef and not enough salad. Some of the classes have been quite challenging, but honestly, Liberty provides all of the resources needed to pass, including grading rubrics so you know exactly what it takes to make an A.I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to go back and finish their degree."

"I truly enjoy attending Liberty University Online. It fits right into my schedule and everyone has been very helpful. I had read some "iffy" reviews when looking into where to go, but I decided that Liberty was the way to go. I'm so happy that I decided to go there. I absolutely love it. I've seen my grades improve at Liberty, and I'm now a member of Psi Chi, on the Dean's List and as of last semester had a 4.0 GPA. Love it!"

"After a lot of research, I decided to attended Liberty University online since it seemed to be military friendly and also, obviously, Christian-oriented. As a miitary wife, this university was supberb at accomodating our lifestyle and anytime I ever called with a question, it was addressed immediately and efficiently. So for any military personnel out there and their spouses, I would definitely recommend this school for you.Another thing that I was concerned about was earning my Bachelor's degree but having it looked at as being from a "paper mill" college. Definitely not so with Liberty. I've been a 4.0 student all my life and must say that the courses I took to complete my Criminal Justice degree were challenging and I worked extremely hard to earn my degree. I recently went to a job interview and the interviewers commented on how they were impressed that I had graduated with high honors from Liberty University since the school has a very solid reputation. That obviously made me feel even better that I had made the right decision in completing my degree at this school.I'd have to say that 98% of my teachers were competent and responded quickly to any questions that I had. The only thing that I disliked about Liberty was having to do group work but you're going to have to do that with any online school.Basically, if you're a Christian and appreciate an education that will help you build a stronger testimony and challenge you in your coursework along the way, I would absolutely recommend Liberty online to you."
Truth about Liberty University Online - 2/23/2012
"I believe in Christian Education and that is why I was excited about Liberty. The on phone help is helpful but that is all. I found numerous wrong or challengable answers but their lack of intellectual capability made debate or discussion pointless. Online students are adults and many quite accomplished. The school treats the students with little to no respect as equals or customers. The quality is as good as the textbooks but no real instruction occurs. The instructors appear to have more important things to do than think for themselves and cannot muster a good debate.I had to be in Lynchburg for a meeting and wanted to meet with instructors to discuss questions and try to determine what theywereloking for. I was told by the instructors who arelocalthatthey are too busy to meet with an online student.Maybe if I were on campus raised inthe right type of home and 18 I would have found Liberty to be terrific. I found it to be less than satisfactory"

"Having attended seminary for 2 short semesters at an extension center in Florida, it became very clear that the commuting and quality of education would not fit my needs as a pastor, husband, and father. When other classmates began to mention Liberty as an alternative, I checked into their MDiv program. Now, 3 years later I am in my last semester. I plan on pursuing a DMin from them as well. They have been a superb school. Their implementation of Blackboard is the most comprehensive I have ever seen at a school.I formerly working in IT as a Network Admin for 4 years in higher education, so I know when a school is putting effort into their offerings. Liberty has far surpassed any expectation I could have. They have been friendly and helpful all along the way. They worked with me when I had a brain bleed. They worked with me to do an independent study in India. They have worked with me and for this reason I highly recommend the education. Great school, great professors, great opportunity. If you're a pastor who needs a way to further your education, look no further than Liberty University."

"It is too slow. Good intentions aside, even if the professors are nice, the daily interruptions in IT connectivity around critical junctures like when assignments come due is mind-boggling. They institution refuses any sort of customer service refunds for lack of quality and is in business to milk the federal student loan teat."

"Liberty University, as of January, 2012 has changed their grading format. They are now assigning a wider range of GPA points for letter grades. It used to be, in most classes, a 90% and aboce qualified for a 4.0 to be applied towards your total GPA. Now, a 4.0 is only given for grade percentages above 96%. Between 92-95.99 the student is given a A- and is awarded 3.67 towards overall GPA. A B+ ranges from 89-91.99% and is worth 3.33 points. Many students are upset. I have personally filed an official complaint asking for an explanation for this bizarre policy which puts Liberty grads at a serious disadvantage. How many people will miss having cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude on thier diplomas because of this policy?I have not heard back from Liberty and it has been about two weeks since I signed the official complaint. I have written the school paper and the Student Advocacy department hoping for some signs of recognition.Currently, I am reducing my classload so I can get a full A's credit and will likely transfer after this semester if they don't change this policy. Believe me, A's were difficult enough to get at Liberty so this seems to be a solution begging for a problem.Whatever problem they think they are addressing is a mystery to us. I would definitely call to confirm what their grading ploicy is before registering at Liberty. Also, this new scale is found in all Liberty programs, undergrad and post grad, on-line and on campus."

"My experience with Liberty University is not a good one. They say that the teachers will contact you within 24-48 hours, but I went longer than that. Many times I could not even get them through phone calls! Student services were the worst! Every time that I call Acedemics or Finicial Aid I would get different people.I feel that if they truly care about their students they would build teams for them so the student would have someone that they feel comfortable with. The setup for tests were confusing at times, I would study for them and they would go totally off topic with the current lesson. I did not "flunk" out. I got my assocaite's with UOP and currently attending another online college which I love."

"This is a very good school. I am currently in attendance and I am pleased to say that this is def. not a mill school. The instructors make sure that the students are writing on the level needed for the degree in which they are pursuing. I graduated with my BA from a local community college in NYC with over a 3.0 GPA and I am working very hard in this school so that I may finish with at least a 3.5.If you are looking for a school that are just handing out degrees then do not attend this school. Nevertheless, if you want to know that you have earned your deg"ree, then this is the correct school for you. There is only one downside and that is: I am use to an "A" being a 90 or above, but in this school an "A" is a 93 or 96 and above depending on the course and your specified major. I have not had any problems with Liberty University Online and will be graduating May 11, 2012 from the MA Human Service program. I hope this review was helpful. God Bless."

"The negative reviews are obviously bogus if one looks closely...Anyway I used to attend LU when I was young, and I recently returned to finish my degree now that I am older.I have immensely enjoyed my experience since Day 1.I loved all of my professors, they were wonderful people and teachers who responded in kind- and assisted me with whatever I needed. Never any problems.I have received excellent feedback from all departments, prompt and polite feedback at that. Never any problems.I have loved all of my classes, I have appreciated the value of each, even the work required (PHIL 201, lol)- I learned much and also learned about myself in turn. Truly amazing experience, and I am truly thankful I am able to attend this school.I am considering the Bible Institute available online as well through LU, as I desire to learn as much as I can about Scriptures. I could never have enough.God bless."
