"The online SLP program was truly the poorest excuse for an education I've experienced. Disorganized course material, irrelevant and extraneous work on impeding the real work needing to be done, and all the professors could be bothered to do was read from PowerPoints that didn't even have all of the information. It was not difficult due to the material; it was difficult due to poor teaching skills and terrible course design. Even if you successfully passed these courses, you're just as prepared for graduate school as you were when you went in. Although they are flexible with repayment options, I still think the experience was terrible overall. I've taken SLP courses before, and if you are anything but a middle-aged white woman, please continue on the path and become an instructor at some point. The field is flooded with them and desperately needs more diversity clinically and academically."

"This review is based on my application process for Longwood University’s online MBA program: I applied for Longwood’s MBA program for the Spring 2021 semester. Application process was super easy and they made you choose between 2 tracks: general business or real estate. Being a person of color, I wanted to see more students who talked about the program because the majority of the people that are promoting the Mba program are Caucasian. I did not see any reviews on the program and later found out through asking around that the program used to be a hybrid program and their 100% online Mba program is new. That to me was a bit concerning seeing that there were little to no reviews on the program anywhere! Eventually I started looking for other programs and I chose LSU Shreveport instead.... same price, more reviews, more concentration and tracks to choose from, AND student feedback / support! LSUS has a Facebook group, a forum, more name recognition, and a better support system for their minority students. In addition, Longwood makes you purchase textbooks with their classes and LSUS does not. Also with Longwood, I felt like I would be another number to increase their diversity stats. The lack of recognition and current reviews on the program made me hesitant to continue. I withdrew my application and went forth with LSUS and I do not regret my decision at all!! The biggest takeaway from this review is to do careful research on the program - all of the reviews are OUTDATED. My advice to you is if you’re looking for an affordable and recognized online MBA program, try LSUS - the LSU name brand has way more recognition than a small town school in FarmVille, Virginia (Only VA residents are familiar with Longwood).... hope this review helps"

"The program was extremely challenging, but it really pushed me to know the material. I found the faculty will truly stand behind you 100% if you needed anything from extra help in the classroom to a recommendation, they definitely will help you out in any way! I loved the small classes sizes, really allowed me to get to know professors and for them to get to know me! I loved this school and this program, this program gave me an array of opportunities! If you are looking to be a speech-language pathologist or an audiologist, I would highly consider this program, it was well worth the money."

"Longwood's online program was a very convenient and cost effective way to get my prerequisite studies done. Several of the professors were very knowledgeable and helpful, and I acquired most of the skills necessary for my graduate studies. It was far from the most intellectually stimulating experience, but I was able to do it while keeping my full time job."

"Longwood University has a fantastic Communication Sciences and Disorders program. I had the opportunity to learn from two highly revered professors, Dr. Agee and Dr. Power-deFur. Students who attend this university will be well prepared for graduate school and the pursuit of a career in Speech Language Pathology."

"My college is a small public university. The size of Longwood University has many benefits. One of them is the small class sizes which allowed for the professors to form a personal relationship with students and have more one-on-one instruction. Additionally, it gives the institution a community feel. I believe as long as students are involved in their studies and extracurricular activities they will enjoy their time at this wonderful university."

"Longwood University is a small, community based school located in rural Farmville VA. Longwood offers some online classes; however, the majority of their classes take place on campus. Instructors on campus are highly qualified and invest time into their students. Instructors truly care about the success of their students. Longwood also has a wonder career advising faculty. Students can receive help with resumes, job searches, and even participate in mock interviews. Instructors are always willing to write letters of recommendation and assist in seeking a job before graduation. Coursework at Longwood strives to push students beyond the state average. Their programs are designed not only to have students learn the basics, but to learn to think outside the box and apply themselves in unexpected situations. Some of Longwood's downsides are the lack of diversity, and the poor networking opportunities. The majority of the students at Longwood are Caucasian females. Longwood is 70 percept female and 30 percept male. The majority of the student body is also Caucasian. However, Longwood is creating more opportunities to make their population more diverse. Foreign exchange programs, scholarships, and opportunities for Longwood student's to travel are becoming more available on campus each year. Longwood does not have many networking opportunities as well. Students must search to get involved with campus activities that allow them to network. However, Longwood is working on this as well by creating more social group opportunities, creating more study abroad programs, having more job fairs and seminars, and allowing for instructors to bring in professionals to the classroom. While Longwood does have some flaws the school continues to grow each year not only in size, but in opportunities as well. If you are looking for a smaller school that has the community it surrounds at heart, then Longwood is just right for you! Go Lancers!"

"Longwood was a great experience. The campus is fun and engaging. If you let it, the school welcomes you with open arms and really gives you a home away from home. Their education program is wonderful and gives a large amount of in school experience that the students don't always get at other schools."

"It was fun and a great community. The area is pretty small and country and is in a good location to richmond and lynchburg. I enjoyed my time there and met lots of people"

"Longwood has a wonderful undergraduate and graduate program for Communication Sciences and Disorders. The town of Farmville is somewhat small. I love the area, but if the city is more your preference, then it may not be the best fit. Sometimes the workload piles up a lot, but it is definitely bearable. The professors are very supportive and always willing to answer questions. They are very helpful when it comes to placements. One even recommended somewhere for me to live. I highly recommend Longwood. I cannot say enough positive things about them."

"The SPED program here at Longwood provides future teachers with the tools they need in order to better their future students' education. The professors are helpful and continuously lifting you up in all that you do with positives and a few "fix its" with each and every experience. Unfortunately, however, not all of the professors are as passionate about the subject as others, which makes it difficult to make you, as a student, want to succeed and do well in the class."

"Pros: strong program, the faculty work with you with placements, faculty is available, new facility to work with, the small town also makes you concentrate on the work, program is small enough to give you personal attention. Cons: surrounding area is a very small town, having a car is a necessity in this town because there is not much transportation."
