"The people are what makes this institution remarkable. I had tremendous professors, passionate peers, and countless opportunities to engage in rigorous academic and professional experiences. There's plenty to do on campus and even more to do in the Twin Cities. However, they might feel a little quiet if you're from a metropolitan area like NYC or LA."

"A wonderful school for motivated students. The student body is diverse, and the Twin Cities provide lots of opportunities for students. The Biology Department has great professors, though I would have liked more ecology/ environmental science courses."

"I had an amazing experience at Macalester. From the time I arrived on campus, I felt like a sponge, soaking up new ideas, ways of thinking, and experiences from my professors, the college staff, and from my peers. I was able to get involved in a variety of activities that interested me and was lucky enough to have opportunities to put what I was learning in the classroom into action in the Twin Cities, and then to reflect on those experiences with other students in a way that deepened my learning."

"Phenomenal school where I learned a lot, but especially learned how to think critically. Good focus on interdisciplinary learning, global citizenship, and engagement in local communities. Academically very rigorous but also does a good job of supporting students."

"Macalester was a really great place to spend 4 years - St. Paul is great for everything, the environment is welcoming and accepting and progressive, and the education I received was top notch, though very difficult, and rewarding."

"My experience at Macalester was amazing! Macalester provides students numerous opportunities to pursue their passions while at the same time offering a top-rate education. Personally, I was able to continue my football career while studying both Biology and Chemistry to future my academic career."

"Mac is a great place for students who want to work hard, but also be involved in a community. Very international school with people from all over the world and the U.S. One of the things I loved about Mac was the absolute lack of judgment and competition; even though the students are incredibly smart and talented there is very little "sabotaging" or degrading language/behavior. Everyone is very supportive and just wants their friends to do well. The campus is beautiful, but compact. It is not a sprawling campus, but is very green and has many trees. The Macalester/Groveland neighborhood is more geared towards family (quieter) but the U of MN is only a short bus/metro ride away if you're looking for college-type bars."
