"Marquette University is a fantastic institution. I attended Marquette for both my bachelor's (Engineering) and master's (Computational Sciences). The professors genuinely care about their students, and Milwaukee is a fun city to live in."

"I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University. This school, overall, is phenomenal and the faculty have shown that they are invested in their students' success. Plus, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the leading professors in my field. However, the cost to attend Marquette is quite hefty, the living expense in downtown Milwaukee is also pretty high, Marquette does not offer much assistance to new out-of-state graduate students, and it has a proximity to a not-so-good neighborhood. Thankfully, Marquette recognizes some of these things and offers transportation to areas close to campus. Overall, I am happy with Marquette and the passion that many faculty members have in teaching and in their research, but the overall expense it takes to go here is pretty demanding and a huge factor for any prospective student."

"The quality of education at the Marquette University Physical Therapy program is unbeatable. The faculty is top notch and the curriculum is strenuous. While the education is spectacular, the cost of attending Marquette University is very overwhelming."

"My graduate program gives me the opportunity to not only learn the theory about counseling, but also gain a lot of clinical experience in different mental health settings."

"I was indifferent as to which ahora I pursued at Marquette University. I was headed for graduate school elsewhere, and I wanted a solid undergraduate formation in Liberal Arts. I was pleasantly surprised by the large number of international students and the cosmopolitan, old world flavor of Milwaukee."

"The school counseling program and Marquette is a wonderful program because it focuses on creating a well round counselor. We are taught not just the most up to date counseling techniques based on ASCA and CACREP, but we are taught how to be overall more effective leaders in the school community. The Jesuit tradition of educated the whole person is well represented in this program."

"The STPA program at Marquette University was the perfect fit for me. It combined a mission-driven education and work environment, with quality teaching and support from the faculty. The small cohort was valuable in that we all had endless opportunities to participate and interact with one another. I was supported throughout the job search process by both Marquette's staff/faculty and my classmates, and I feel nothing but prepared to head into the Student Affairs world, and was hired in the functional area I am passionate about. If I were to choose a graduate program again, I would choose Marquette again."

"While there isn't enough funding for all graduate students to obtain financial aid, all students get some at some point throughout their degree. You're paying for the name of the school and that will get you very far."

"While the Marquette Master's in Nursing program is highly competitive and renowned, it is also costly an in a urban setting. The pro's of the school far outweigh the cons in terms of education and networking / career opportunities. However a private institution in the midst of a socioeconomically diverse city can prove to be hazardous at times. The nursing program itself is wonderful, with a newly renovated simulation lab and small class sizes; this is namely why I chose the program and am seeking financial aid."

"There is a great opportunity to learn here at Marquette. The workload might be a little heavy but at the end you feel that you are a head of a lot of people. Besides that you collaborate with other labs which creates a good opportunity to learn and think differently."

"Currently, my research interest lies in the general area of human activity recognition systems, especially in the area of smartphone-based fall prediction. My area of expertise involves electronic systems and basic activity problems, specifically smartphone communication systems. My current research efforts are focused on smartphone-based human gait recognition issues; these include different biomechanical models for gait abnormality, calculating the risk of falling, analyzing risk using a foot pressure sensor, etc. This type of research provides a unique opportunity to use my knowledge of theoretical science in many practical problems. Moreover, I took many communication engineering and computer engineering courses during my undergraduate and master’s studies. Also during my eight semesters’ study in the Computational Sciences program, I took: smartphone programming, mobile health (mHealth), Chaos/Nonlinear Signal Process, gait analysis, sensors data processing and analysis, signal processing and conditioning, fall detection and prevention, with six core courses. These provide a solid foundation to do practical research in mobile communication networks. In the future, I would like to do both theoretical and experimental research in the above mentioned areas. I would like to propose a novel, smartphone-based fall prediction system for fall risk assessment by analyzing the gyroscope, accelerometer, and GPS data from a smartphone and data from foot pressure sensors to prevent the risk of falling. Also I with my faculty advisor, am developing a mathematical model for the assessment of combined foot pressure sensor and smartphone sensor effects, which will play an important role in preventing the risk of falling. While existing approaches are capable of detecting whether a subject is falling, our proposed novel system predicts a fall and attempts to intervene or prevent the fall by generating an alert message which goes to caregivers, loved ones, and the person using the system. As smartphones become increasingly more powerful and sensor-rich, there is great potential to use non-intrusive technology to improve users’ quality of life. We propose a novel system to detect and alert the user to gait abnormalities that could result in a fall with location information using gyroscope, accelerometer and GPS combined with foot pressure sensors. We already have few experimental results that indicate good accuracy in classifying abnormal gaits."

"A pro of the graduate program is the 18 month course length. Another pro would be the opportunity to work with elementary grade students, middle school students, and high school students. A con of the graduate program would be that lack of financial aid provided."

"What has impressed me most about Marquette's law program is that the community is very close and I feel like my instructors make the effort to get to know me and really strive to help all students understand the material and perform well. As a Jesuit school, I was concerned that the community may not be open to all religious backgrounds, but that is completely not the case. Everyone at the school is very welcoming and open to all backgrounds. The school is placed in the middle of an impoverished community because the school strives to improve the community. There are many clinics and other pro bono opportunities for law students (even 1L's) to work with practicing attorneys in the area. However, because the school is located in an impoverished community, you do need to keep safety in mind when venturing off campus alone."
