National University Reviews of Bachelor's in Nursing

National University is expensive and a diploma mill to get the GI bill dollars from the government. I was dismissed from the Nursing Program because the dean and my professor said I, " wasn't meant to be a nurse." As if they know me and can predict the future. What were the reasons for dismissal? Here you go: arriving on campus for a SIM lab which is a plastic mannekin and wasn't wearing my uniform. I emailed a private company called COMPLIO and despite paying hundreds of dollars they still hadn't issued me a background check after 60 days. I asked how Effing long in a tongue in cheek way. Yep, not to an instructor, not to a peer but to a robot on the messenger they have. Strike 3! I had a private conversation and the professor heard me say Ship, After paying 31K for a Nursing degree, they pulled out the rug from my feet and I left me owing for it. There are other people that were dismissed for trivial reasons, one was a girl that was on antibiotics and had a urinalysis and her urine pH was off. No she didn't test positive for anything. The "university" or adult moneypit is a sham. You can't even get a job working at NU if you have a NU degree! The chairwoman and Dean of Nursing both took an active role in bullying me and making my life complicated. They enjoyed it. My lowest grade was a b+and made it all the way to L&D. They then dismissed me for "unprofessional "behavior. This is despite doing clinicals at 5 different hospitals with real patients that had nothing but good things to say about me and how I was going to be a great nurse someday. The Chairwoman is an egotistical maniac. Even ordering me to call her "Dr, " instead of prof etc. We as a cohort had a group meeting since they were RAISING tuition AGAIN and their program towards the end is full of fluff classes, Community, Leadership, Nsg courses etc. I asked "Dr." Farquharson a valid question and she rolled her eyes and dismissed me. It was from that point on that she made it her intent to get me dismissed since she is an egotistical self absorbed, self important person that had a student using their critical thinking skills they hammer into you every nursing class. Do not go to this "University" which really is an office building in a strip mall. This is just the nursing part of the school and I'm sure there are many positive stories about NU in other academic fields. But yes dismissed from nursing school due to a personal vendetta. If you are a man, you will instantly be a target for misandry. This is the worst barely accredited University I have been to. I hold 2 Bachelor of Science degrees from a REAL university SDSU and Cal State, I am in my mid thirties so I'm not an immature first time student venting. I am warning people and especially men. That while this chairwoman and Dean remain, NU is a moneypit and they do not care about you.It was the worst experience of my life. The hostile environment, pitting students up against each other, changes to the syllabus, tuition hikes yet still having outdated to non existent equipment. I would stay far away from this school while these two women are in "power." It is a good ol' girls club and if you are a straight white Male you are instantly hated. The way this woman operated was to get students to spy on other students. They will emotionally drain you on purpose and make you miserable to satisfy their sadism. I have been to "REAL" universities and this strip mall one isn't worth the 60K pricetag. Professors that are there just for the money or ego trip. Every professor worked somewhere else or was getting a degree themselves at NU. Do not waste your GI bill or hard earned money especially if it is your only or first college degree. I can't tell you enough that it isn't worth it. Once you are in they can drop you and take the money running. I am still in counseling months after it happened due to the PTSD. 1 year of prerequisite classes, the "2600" orientation fee that gets you a donut, chips and soda while a professor talks about themselves and all their canned stories. It isn't worth the 1500 "pre-orientation" fee either, then put on the actual tuition dollars, it is a lot of money. I wasted 2 years of my life to be dismissed and carry around a mark as a dismissed Nursing student and no other schools will accept you because of that. It wasn't worth $36,000 a year out of pocket. This school is just a bad joke and a GI bill milking machine. Most of the professors in Nursing haven't worked the floor since the 80s. These old nurses now in power are continuing the lateral violence they are infamous for. NU isn't rewarding, it is stress. Professors aren't there to help you out they just say they are. They just love the power to ruin your finances and life.

horrible horrible financial aid, I pretty much had to walk them through my account when asking them questions, they are a complete rip off, taking a science class in 2 months and getting an A with a professor who is jamming info in your head and making it so you will not get an A in the class, in my opinion is the worst style of teaching. Often the teacher would make statements that would set us up for failure. I have also taken another science class here and the teacher didn't even speak English... Read More and you were not allowed to ask questions in class, your really going to make us sit through 4 hour long lectures and not let us ask a single question? how are we suppose to maintain a good GPA with horrible professors that don't care if you pass or fail the class. My advisor was helpful but the student concierge are very rude and not helpful at al!!! STAY AWAY!! Attend a community college instead or if your going to pay so much for school look into west coast or something else. This school is a scam that doesn't care if you succeed or not!

This school is extremely unorganized. The instructors are not credited to teach and are not very good. Admin doesn't respond to emails or phone calls. Scheduling is terrible you will be lucky to know your schedule 2-3 days before start date. No mercy or concerns for your life outside of nursing school, because they tell you in orientation that you won't have one, and if you do you're at their mercy. Terrible communication among all staffing too many indians and not enough chiefs... Save yourself... Read More the trouble and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!

I started an NU with the intention of receiving my BSN. I chose the school due to the flexibility of online or on-campus courses. The fact that each was 4-6 weeks long was perfect for my personality/attention span. I was looking forward to receiving my degree... until I started running into problems. Financial Aid is a nightmare. IF you can get ahold of someone, good luck getting the information you need. I was able to deal with the inefficiency until recently. I went in to ask if I could post pone... Read More my last two classes. I asked if it would affect my financial aid. I was told it would not, in fact my grant would be in effect so it would be best to wait. Next thing i know, I get a $3,000 bill because it seems i fell out of eligibility. nobody is accountable, it's just too bad for me. the best part? I'm not accepted into the nursing program until I pay off the $3,000. All because an adviser gave me the wrong information. Cudos NU.

Absolutely horrid school. They exist to make money, not to provide you with a quality education. They did illegal things like: changed the graduation requirements $25,000 into the program, against the course catalogue. They lied and lost many important contracts vital to my education in the field.Be prepared to possibly fail a class even if you have over an A plus. If you don't pass the ATI (which they don't teach towards), they will remove you from the program.... Read More Units do not transfer. DO NOT GO HERE.
