"I'm currently in the RN-BSN program, and it isn't very good. It seems like many online professors have not been close to the bedside in over 10+ years because the assignments they assign have little application to actual bedside nursing or any nursing field, for that matter. . The whole program feels infantilizing. It shines a light on why the nursing profession is not taken seriously in medical communities. The whole nursing program is based on Jean Watson's theory of caring, and a lot of the theory sways into new-age beliefs. One of the first classes also made it mandatory to provide "art projects" and (no joke) even suggested we finger paint. Maybe it's just me, however, no doctor or experienced provider will take me or my profession seriously, let alone see my profession as respectable, if they knew nurses were finger painting. This program is insufferable, and I regret staying and finishing in the program."

"I was on the payment plan until my financial aid kicked in. We are going into the next semester and I cannot select my classes because there's a hold on my account. I call the cashier office everyday regarding this and all they say is they are working on it. It doesn't take long to go into the computer and take care of this problem because I don't owe anything. Now my classes are full."

"I decided to do the part-time track thinking that this would be a good program for being a busy mom, WRONG. I have to be at clinical on Saturday's at 5:45 A.M.(leaving my house by 4:55 A.M. to get there). Students should not be getting up this early for preclinical. I pretty much take care of my child on my own most of the time and rely on daycare. There is no childcare that is open this early, which cuts out single moms or military spouses. Even the nurses that are getting paid don't arrive to the hospital this early (and they have more money and can afford a private nanny- students don't have that kind of money). A 6:45 clinical was manageable, but having us get there at 5:45 is unreasonable! And there is no preceptorship in this program."

"Nevada State College quickly became a strong name in Southern Nevada for nursing. Years back I decided to return to school after my first bachelors from UNLV turned out to not provide many opportunities. I completed pre-read at Nevada State and was accepted into their (now non-existent) accelerated program. Quite an accomplishment considering the number of applicants. Life happened and I had to turn down my spot. It's a shame, because the education of my classmates that completed it was wonderful. I finally returned a couple years ago to finish what I started. The theory instructors are either amazing or just horrid. Most are on the amazing side. I have loved all of my clinical instructors, which is what has made my time at NSC tolerable. Unfortunetly, the semester I began we also got a new dean. It seems this was the downfall of the school. We now are not welcome in some clinical sites, I believe this has to do with the administration. They are not providing adequate clinical placements, education is lacking, and a sense of student empowerment no longer exists. There is an overwhelming authoritarian presence from the administration regarding everything. Many instructors are unhappy with administration as well. There is a strong clique atmosphere among them and a few are in the 'in crowd' with administration while the others are disregarded just as the students are. Students wrote to the state board regarding the fact that we no longer receive a preceptorship and since that time there has been nothing but punitive actions from administration. Yes, you read that right, we no longer have a preceptorship. How can one graduate as a nurse without this? That's a good question. We were lied to and told no schools in Nevada have them anymore, just spoke to a preceptee from the other state institution, they indeed still have this opportunity. I am very disappointed I was not able to attend this school when it was an amazing learning opportunity. I recommend to anyone to either go to UNLV (that's hard for me to say because I was so unhappy with my last degree from there) or if you have the money go to Roseman. I have personally knowledge from family who recently attended that their program is far superior these days."

"Nevada State College was a great place to finish my bachelors in Psychology. The staff as well as the student are super friendly and are there to help any time. It is not a huge college so waiting in financial aid line or the registrars office is simple."

"I loved attending NSC, staff was excellent compared to other schools in Southern Nevada. I enjoyed the small classes and the facilities were clean and new. Instructors were mostly from the medical field and could relate to what they were preparing us for. I would recommend NSC to anyone in the Southern Nevada area."

"I began my attendance at Nevada State College prior to my decision to enter the nursing field. After my admittance into the competitive nursing program I have had nothing but great experiences at Nevada State. The class sizes are smaller than most other colleges which allows for a great one on one time with professors and a real personalized education. The nursing program allows for great opportunities during clinical hours because of the downsized class size. It allows for plenty of hands on experience. The professors really care about the growth, development and progress of their students. They work extremely hard to make sure everyone is prepared for their future NCLEX. I am unbelievably satisfied with my choice to attend NSC."

"Nevada State College is a small campus where the faculty can talk one on one with you. Professors at Nevada State College are very helpful. I am a Biology Major and its a difficult and challenging degree but with the staff that are always willing to help it makes it a lot easier. The campus itself is growing as of 2014 as in new buildings and more students to come. Financially Nevada State College is not that expensive as other Universities and you can still get your bachelors degree."
