"I will say the Bachelor program in Psychology is overall pretty good with high level professors. This is most definitely not a career launching program, so you will need to pursue a masters degree for a well paying career. But for a bachelors here, the classes offered are interesting (psychology and the law, social psyche, abnormal psyche). However there are some required courses that are so specialized like psychology and the brain which seems to be more for a medical career seeker. The advisors are awesome, so make sure to keep a regular schedule with one to get your degree without wasting time with nonsense classes. Overall, the program is fine but you cannot stop here, unless you want an entry level career for minimum wage."

"The professors were great and very helpful. If they saw that you were trying to succeed they would help you try to reach your goals no matter how much you were struggling. The professors also help you as much as possible if you are planning on going to graduate school. They will get you all the resources you will need to apply for graduate school. As an undergrad in Counseling and community psychology there were a few of us who graduated with that degree, which I thought was great because you go through the majority of the classes with the same people. So you get to create a bond with the people you are doing the same degree as, especially if you are graduating in the same semester."

"NMSU is not perfect. It sits in a medium-sized city that usually doesn't have much to offer in terms of entertainment. However, for someone who is dedicated to getting a quality education, this is a good place to be. The English department is small and lacks a lot that other programs have but the faculty is great and will guide you to your goals."

"I attended this school because I was awarded a scholarship which assisted me financially. This university has seemingly exceptional programs in certain fields of study, such as engineering, however limited in others. Studying psychology at this university, the classes were met with basic instruction and offered narrow insight to the options of careers psychology offers. The psychology degree program did not have academic advisers during the years which I attended, thus limiting my exposure and ability to explore the realm of using psychology after college. The classes were average, however, I am disappointed in the limited assistance of advisers in preparing students for careers after completion of the degree. There are a variety of sectors in which psychology can be applied in the workplace, however much of this was done by my own research and discovery."

"I looked into the online OTA already holding a BS & postgrad credits, for an OTA. I sent over my transcripts to an advisor expecting only to retake A&P, but no, they were going to make me retake all prereqs except one! Freshman English and reading for some "liberal arts requeirment" an AA w/a BS degree."

"I attended NMSU in the 1980's so I'm sure the school has changed since then but I loved New Mexico State. I could have gone to the University of New Mexico (where my dad taught for many years) but chose the quieter town of Las Cruces and the Agricultural background of NMSU. My education was solid. I was challenged. I was an honors English student in high school and loved the relatively small English department at NMSU but chose to get an education degree. All in all it was a good experience."

"New Mexico State University is a wonderful school for a multitude of reasons. The academic program is tough and rigorous, and I think it does an excellent job of simulating the experience of being a teaching and producing artist in the real world after graduation. There are many opportunities for working in a gallery, as a teacher, and as a tech or administrative assistant, giving the student a wide range of potential work experience within the safety of a supervised program. Students can try on different roles with a lot of professional mentoring from the faculty. The community element is also very important. You are not just another student, but are treated almost as an equal with the staff and faculty. Your feedback and participation is valued and the people your are in the program with genuinely care about you and your well being as you move through the difficulties of the program. I came to this school as a cancer survivor with many other co-morbid chronic diseases, not knowing if I was going to be able to compete or fully participate in the program. The support I have received both professionally and emotionally from students, staff, and faculty has made my transition back into academia after almost ten years away a lot easier and has given me the confidence that I will be able to compete professionally when I graduate. I would recommend this school to anyone seeking an MFA and looking for a fully supportive community of like minded individuals."

"Take advantage of all the opportunities. Choose a program that allows for internships, as they will give you some of the most valuable part of your education. Internships give you the opportunity to apply all you have learned in a safe environment."

"I have never stepped foot into New Mexico until I had gone to college. However, the school and the whole town of Las Cruces opened its arms to me during my whole time there. The staff made me feel like they were committed to our success. I feel like the degree program in itself was designed to give students more than hands-on experiences. Apart from observations and field work, we really got to interact with the schools, district, and community at large."

"Overall I believe NMSU is a beautiful campus with diverse faculty and students. However, the Art Department is in need of a serious update. At the moment the old gymnasium of the campus was turned into the Art Dept that we know of today. As an art student, with an emphasis in Photography and Graphic Design, I experienced first hand the lack of equipment and space provided for art students. While attending the university, Photography students were working with 20+ year old lighting equipment and older printers. I will say the amount of film equipment is much better than modern photography equipment. Additionally, the department always changed instructors every year, which was very frustrating. Besides the lack of newer equipment I also felt the program was not very technical or hands on, possibly because of the lack of equipment. The instructors were definitely more interested in focusing on the conceptual aspect of photography. I definitely do feel that I grew a lot in the sense of understanding and developing new concepts for photography projects but did indeed feel the lack of the technical portion, which I ended up teaching myself."

"New Mexico State University is one of the best institute I have ever attended. Faculty and staff is really supporting for graduate students and I bet also for undergraduates. Here, we have most of the facilities and equipment to carry out advance level experiments. NMSU is all about discovery and I glad I chose this university for my graduate studies. I would highly recommend NMSU to every one, If they really want to succeed in their future endeavors."

"I am very happy with my course of study. The classes seem very applicable to my future career goals. The professors are very supportive and easy to talk to. It is easy to work with professors in other programs. The campus family housing is great and the cost is good. I like the campus and the surrounding community."

"New Mexico State University is a wonderful school, I remember when I first came in I had to get adjusted fast because I was commuting from home but other than that I had a good time being their and the classes were pretty great as well. I would definitely recommend this to future students."

"Depending on the major that you choose to pursue , New Mexico State University is a great University to attend. Tuition is inexpensive, they take most transfer credits, the classes themselves are taught by professor's who are not just educated but have real world experience and have a knack for teaching. They will take an interest in your life and help you pursue any education that you seek. You will be rewarded for hard work. If you slack it they will do everything they can to help you get back on track. There is no reason that you should not be able to graduate from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. I chose to pursue a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. They have a restaurant there on campus where students can learn how to operate a 5 star restaurant. Last I heard they also built a hotel on Campus that they allow the students to run so that they can gain real world hotel management experience. The only criticism I have of New Mexico State is they did not help my gain employment nor did they follow up with me after graduation."

"New Mexico State University offered an rewarding college experience, one that I will never forget. The campus was small enough to offer a tight knit community feel, while also being grand enough to make meeting new people very easy to do. Courses were challenging and stimulating, making for a very compelling and intriguing classroom experience. Overall, I was delighted to go to New Mexico State University and if I had the ability to travel to the past, changing the university I chose to go to, I know without a doubt I would choose New Mexico State, no contest."

"I loved every aspect of NMSU. Great student community, very supportive professors, and the fact that it is located in Las Cruces, a small college town was definitely a plus. If you are from a bigger city it will be a nice change of pace, and if you ever feel like you miss the big city, El Paso, Texas is only a half hour drive away. NMSU is great if you are getting basically any degree, and it has a lot to offer."
