Degree: Dental Hygiene

I completed my Bachelor's of Dental Hygiene through Northern Arizona Universities online program. I had a great experience and was able to complete my degree in a short amount of time and a low cost. I am so glad that I completed my degree. Although it is not required to have a Bachelor's degree to be a hygienist in the clinical setting, it is important to help set you apart from the many applicants. It has also made it possible to teach in a dental hygiene program as an instructor. I was only able... Read More

I love NAU and I find the campus the perfect place for someone who wants a smaller college with a more personable atmosphere. That being said, the graduate program, though challenging at times, was not as demanding as I would have expected. My biggest concern is that we did not write a thesis, we did not have to present our thesis, or get our thesis published. Instead, we had to write 10-page papers and present at conferences, at least one to graduate--and it was easy enough to just present at the... Read More

I loved the small feel of NAU's campus. Not just the cooler weather, but the old-town feel of the architecture and the environment on and off campus. It's a great place to find yourself. The campus is easy to navigate and the public bus system is great. I spent most of my time on North or Central campus, so I do not know much about South campus. I do know that the classes and course work are appropriate for what is expected of you and it is a very supportive campus.

Degree: Environmental Science

I took the management emphasis which is essentially useless unless you manage to get a good internship(s) where they teach you applicable skills that are lacking at NAU. I'm sure the other emphasis areas may be better for the job market, however the faculty has fooled themselves (despite complaints from students) into thinking the curriculum they established is what the market needs. The market requires harder science classes. They have watered down this program with irrelevant classes and compared... Read More

Attending Northern Arizona University to complete my Master's had some advantages and disadvantages. NAU itself is more obscure, so there is less enrollment and the graduate programs are quite small. I also opted to attend NAU, because I was able to seek out a major advisor after enrollment instead of while applying. The small program allows the professors to give the students more personal attention and identify their strengths and weaknesses. There are more funding opportunities that relate to... Read More

Degree: Elementary Education

I attended the extended campus at Chandler Gilbert Community College. The education program was amazing, all the staff and professors have been very helpful and I felt like they truly cared about all of us. I feel prepared to enter into the career field as teacher because of NAU.

I would recommend perspectives students pursuing a degree in Elementary Education to attend Northern Arizona University. I would recommend this school and degree program because the content given and learned through the courses has allowed me to be the most prepared in becoming a successful teacher. Learning through real-world applications by being placed in various schools with multiple teachers which provides knowledge about the different styles of teaching. As well as learning to teach to a wide... Read More

Northern Arizona University is a bargain for the wonderful and rich education you will receive if you choose to attend this University. The class sizes are small (though they were growing towards the end of my time at NAU due to an initiative at the state level) and the professors are knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful. The campus community is strong and inclusive, and the surrounding town of Flagstaff is beautiful, friendly, and something from a time bygone. The academics are rigorous, but... Read More

The psychology program is one of the most personal programs I have ever encountered. The teachers genuinely care about their students and desire to see them grow. They have many opportunities such as internships and research opportunities that will prepare each person for the future. The psychology program is geared toward helping each person know where their places are in the field. I personally had the opportunity to take part in these research and internship opportunities and realized the depth... Read More

Degree: Criminal Justice

There are a lot of wonderful things about Northern Arizona University and the Criminal Justice program. One of the best things was the tight-knit community where you got to grow with those majoring in the same degree as you. However, one thing to take into account is the housing situation and how hard it can be for upper class-men to find a place to live.

Want mentors who vanish? Lack of records? Online classes that cost thousands per class and yet barely cover any academic materials? You may get one sentence reply on an assignment. Maybe. Want scattered financial records? Charges for classes you didn't take? Well, go to NAU, the worst of the three colleges I have attended. I have two BAs and an MA from other unis. This school is uniquely horrific. I left and will not return. It is. It worth finishing.

This university is horrible. They treat you horrible, especially when you have financial issues. That is all I have to say about that. They don't allow you to sign up for classes or housing when you previously have holds on your account, even if you get the hold taken down.

I think most of the other reviewers were correct, very unprofessional. When I started I was told my "mentor" would contact me regularly, but this particular subscription I haven't heard from her once. Also some of the professors seem like they don't even read any of my submissions. For instance, I handed in an essay and was given the score of 76, meaning I had to redo and resubmit. I ended up adding one more citation to the several already in the paper and handed it in again. I eventually heard back... Read More

I was honestly hoping for something worse but NAU disappointed me, everyone was friendly and extremely helpful. I didn't like how all my instructors were very encouraging and such, I wanted them to be mean and unhelpful. My colleagues were the worst, it was so easy to make friends, ugh it just disgusts me. If you're looking for a horrible school like I was, I would not recommend NAU.

Northern Arizona University is nestled in the beautiful mountain town of Flagstaff. Not only do you get education from amazing, passionate teachers but you also get the scenic beauty and commandery of the Flagstaff community. You get the excitement, spirit, and experiences of a bigger college but the small class sizes and one on one experiences with teachers that are valued in education. There are many resources, programs, and organizations to fit any needs or wants you may have. Overall, NAU is... Read More

This school and everybody associated with it is nothing but a complete and utter joke. At times, the entire school felt like it was a scam. Sure, the advisors would do just about ANYTHING in order to get you to sign up. But as soon as I was enrolled, forget about it. I no longer mattered. The law program at the school? Barely taught me anything. I have no idea how it's even considered a school at all, considering that all I did was basically read from the textbook. I literally could have done that... Read More

I attended NAU Personalized Learning program where I was able to complete my Bachelor of Science within 2 years. My experience in business assisted me in the platform that I was faced with while attending NAU online and I was able to complete coursework very quickly with ease. The instructors are very willing to offer feedback and guidance and the program overall is very well planned.

NAU is a beautiful campus that has a lot of things to offer. There business program is onl progressing and the Greek life is great I have met a lot of people that will be in my wedding and learned a lot about myself in my freshman year. I will say the cops are a bit strict in Arizona but if your careful it's a great environment to be in with Sedona being so close and the Arizona snow bowl being Even closer. You won't be bored in the city of Flagstaff

First of all, the campus is beautiful! There is green everywhere, especially being in northern Arizona! You can easily tell the campus has been very much taken care of! Our student union is a great hang out. It's definitely the place to be campus when you don't have any class. Here, there is always great food and the atmosphere makes it that much better. I also truly love our library! It's a place I know I will be able to get any of my work done. There are plenty of good study areas throughout this... Read More
