Degree: Spanish

I hated my time here. I found the educational content not challenging whatsoever, nor did it prepare me for a career in the real world. Unless you can pair Spanish with another concrete skill like nursing, you're never going to make any real money. I ended up putting myself through night school at a community college a few years later to get a certificate in IT so I could get a real job. There are differences in how men and women are treated (especially when it came to policing women's bodies and... Read More

This is worst ABSN Program in the whole world. They are all about stealing your money. They make you run errands and waste all your time in this program. Almost all their faculty lack real world nursing experience and are completely out of touch with real world nursing. You should not be teaching core class unless you have experience as a hospital/clinic/nursing home unit nurse for at least 10 years. This faculty here just don't have it as many have not even worked full time on a unit for 5 years.... Read More

Tabaka is so controlling. Same thing with Brooke Piper (just became MSN coordinator). They are running the ABSN program at Oakbrook to make money for the school and do not care about the students. Run from this school as they have no religious believes. They are trying to rob students of their money

Absolutely terrible school for LGBTQ people. My mental health while attending this school was extremely low. This school and student life is nothing like the real world, hence campus typically being called the Olivet bubble. Mandatory chapel twice a week where they have brought “reformed” homosexuals to talk about how bad the sin is. If I could go back I would never go here again.

I can testify to the fact that all the comments below are true about the ABSN nursing program in Oakbrook. Please read them thoroughly before taking the risk to enroll in this program. I graduated in Summer 2017 after bouncing through many hoops the school throws at students here. Someone below posted about a student in my cohort, Joee, getting arrested after a court order was filed against him by a Professor who went after him by making up an academic integrity claim. I know him personally and heard... Read More

Olivet Nursing ABSN Program is akin to the burning cross they have in their University logo. They want students to burn and die at this school and only interested in their money. Staff are faculty are unsupportive and always complaining about things rather than helping students. They will create reasons to get you out if they do not like you. A classmate in my cohort was kicked out of the ABSN program for a random reason and for complaining about a Professor here for unfair treatment. He is in ton... Read More

I just want to start off saying that I have graduated this program and have gone through all 4 levels of the ABSN program. Often times on these reviews, I notice that the students who are saying that it isn't bad have not gone through the program entirely. The first two semesters are the easiest, which should be taken with a grain of salt because it is still very challenging. However, once you get to level 3 there are specialized classes along with Adult health II and 3 clinical's in one semester.... Read More

I did like everyone else, and I read the reviews. I did not have any issues with the professors in the first quarter. I do want to say this, Olivet is very very expensive, the make you buy a book package of 1,000 bucks plus in the first quarter, plus other books (mind you these books are only for the first 2 quarters). They also make you pay to take exams every week, and not to mention the cost of the, uniforms drug, background, and physical, The school is already extremely expensive I think books... Read More

I first attended Purdue in 2016 to acquire my RN-BSN degree, that was a fail due to the program lack of assistance and grading system. I transferred to Olivet and graduated in 2018. The program was easy to me, I was irritated with the lack of consistency with APA grading. I graduated with a 3.3 GPA, and that was with doing the minimum or you can say a lack of really trying. I wish schools offered the opportunity to take more than one class at a time, to accelerate the program. Yes, I do work full-time... Read More

Do not go to this University. I am a student at the Main Campus. Professors are not clear with expectations. The administrators do not care about student success. Seems staff are openly prejudiced here. They do not like minority students here. The Dean of the program is openly prejudiced.

Be careful with this school ! The admission office is a mess. I dropped a class because I was going through some personal issues, the office told me to stop any activities in the class, so I did, next thing I know they gave me a failing grand and disqualified me from the program, even though I sent all my paperwork not once but twice . I dont believe this is a Christian school bunch of liars

When I first started searching for ABSN programs, I read a lot of terrible reviews about Olivet. I won't lie. However, most of the reviews you see online are from people who have failed out and/or are ticked off, right? I thought maybe that was the case. So, I decided to get on LinkedIn and reach out to some people who had actually graduated from the program. After 2 phone calls, I was hearing many of the same things. Yes, it's SOOOOOOOO hard. Yes, it sometimes sucks. Yes, it can be annoying. No,... Read More

I graduated from ONU's ABSN program in Oak Brook, Illinois in the advertised 16 months, and I have what I think to be an honest and helpful review of the program for those who are wondering whether this program is meant for them. Cost: This program costs over $55,000 not including scrubs, books, and gas money. I put 35,000 miles on my car in the 16 months that I attended this program. Work load: The work load is INTENSE. I did school work and studied every single day of this program. I did NOT work... Read More

Going to olivet Nazarene University ABSN is a nightmare and worst mistake of my lifetime. They are not supportive of student needs. Professors are barely available to help you succeed. Many professors here full of ego. They think of themselves as above everyone and highly qualified when they have barely worked as floor nurses and do not have enough experience themselves to teach kids. These Professors here are nurses who couldn't stand the rigor of the life on the nursing floor, so they decided to... Read More

Choosing to attend Olivet was one of the best decisions I have ever made! The professors in my department invested in me as a professional as well as in me personally, and the classes I took gave me knowledge and experience that I can already see positively impacting my work. Financially, Olivet made it easy for me to afford, and looking back, the investment was so worth it. It's important to find a university that challenges AND cares, because after four years, you will have been molded by it. I... Read More

I had a terrific experience, and thoroughly enjoyed my time at Olivet. I received terrific instruction, and as a performance major, was able to have a variety of performance opportunities. The student experience was great, and different than many of my peers. I enjoyed the quality attention given to every student, and the faith component was prevalent throughout my entire degree.

Looking back at how far I have made it, I wish I walked out the first day. The funny part is the very first day of orientation of level 1 a level 4 student told me and several peers that this program is complete trash. Staff and teachers literally could care less about you. There is absolutely no support and guidance from instructors once you hit level 3. If all the instructors were like the level 1 and 2 instructors then the class portion of the program would be great. Where can i start?? How about complete garbage and evil? For most employed people including myself accepting a job means that we have to do the work that we agreed upon in the title and duties of the position. If we breech this agreement by either not working or doing a half-way job our employment is terminated. Olivet instructors seem to be able to get away with the impossible because they accept a paycheck that YOUR tuition funded and they sit back and do absolutely nothing that their job description... To the future potential students reading all these comments - take them seriously! I was once in your shoes where I said okay, maybe these students are mad because they are lazy or they are bad students. Let me tell you- I was 100% wrong. Olivets ABSN program is the most traumatizing experience of my life. You can work your hardest and give your 110% into studying and you will still fail exams. When I say fail I mean less than 77% because anything below that is considered failing on Olivets standards.... Read More
