"I spent four years at Philander Smith College. My time there was amazing. The atmosphere at the institute is one you would find at home. Of course people are trying to get ahead and will do anything to do so, but Philander Smith College also wants you to get ahead. Faculty, staff, and students encourage each other. Playing basketball gave me another family that even deeper than the Philander Smith College family. Philander Smith College turns young boys and girls into men and women, "Philander Man" and "Philander Woman.""
Small School, but Good Experience

"My overall undergraduate experience was good . I would recommend my school for those who want a more intimate one-on-one experience with their professors. The student body is small, and the classes are set up to where the professors know you by name. The one thing I liked the most were the many opportunities to network. I was able to do a internship every year summer at different universities. One thing I disliked was the lack of preparation seniors received upon graduation. I did not feel prepared to take that next step. I wish my academic advisor would of discussed with me my plans for after graduation, so I would of felt more prepared to move to that next level in my career and education."

"Attending Philander Smith College, my program of study was Psychology. At the time of my attendance, the head of the psychology department was gone and we received guidance from another's department leader who knew nothing about what classes we should take or how to guide us in the right direction. Know why you are in school, do lots of research on your own. And stay true to your dream. Don't let anyone or other people get in your way."
